 Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen

As with the Grands I felt very humbled to have some of the breed’s top exhibits entered under me today. For my Best Dog I selected Ch/am Ch M and M's Stellar Mayhem and Madness (Imp Usa) (Mrs E & Mrs D & Ms J Cadmore & Moore & Hayes), for my Reserve Best Dog I chose Erylan Zeus Roi Des Dieux ShCEx (Mr T & Mrs D Bartley). My Best Bitch and later Best of Breed was Ch Soletrader Missy Elliott JW (Miss C L & Mrs E Cooper & Cadmore) and my Reserve Best Bitch and Best Puppy being the very exciting youngster Soletrader Tina Turner (Mrs C & Miss N Blance). My Best Special Beginners was awarded to Probert Calypso (Mr & Mrs R Moore)

1st Place Soletrader Times Square (Mrs E & Ms C Cadmore & Neill)

This is a young chap of just six months with bags of potential. He has a super head on him for his age, masculine with good balance, a super eye, and good furnishings. Ears of good length. Long in neck, super front assembly, shoulders well set and a good return of forearm. Stands on good legs and feet. He has the correct depth of chest for his age, is well ribbed up and short in loin. Strong hindquarters with a good bend of stifle. He moved out well for one so young using his tail well. Best Puppy Dog.

2nd Place Erylan Poseidon De La Mer (Mr T & Mrs D Bartley)

Another smart puppy with a lot to like about him, larger size than the winner but he was still in proportion. Shoulders well-laid, enough depth of chest for his age, would like him a shade tighter in elbow, stands on good feet. Good through the body into strong hindquarters, with stifles well bent. Held his shape well on the move, good in profile but not as tidy as the winner on the up and down today.

1st Place Ch/am Ch M and M's Stellar Mayhem and Madness (Imp Usa) (Mrs E & Mrs D & Ms J Cadmore & Moore & Hayes)

Smart male, I like his size and type. he scored in movement in this class. He has a good alert expression. His head is masculine, moderate dome to skull, short muzzle and a good eye. Decent length of neck into well-set shoulders. Good well boned legs. Enough depth of chest, good through the ribs, topline level. Good hindquarters, stifles well bent. Excellent coat and condition. Pleased to make him my Best Dog.

2nd Place Erylan Zeus Roi Des Dieux ShCEx (Mr T & Mrs D Bartley)

Another dog of pleasing type, heavier set than the winner. I liked his headpiece, good overall proportions, good length of muzzle and ears. Good through the neck into well laid shoulders, well-made front assembly, stands on good straight legs. Good depth of chest, well ribbed, held his topline well. Coat in harsh condition, moved out well to take this place and Reserve Best dog.

1st Place Afterglow Dough Ble Impact (Mr & Mrs R Moore)

Strongly built chap, he has type about him, but I wouldn’t want any more of him. His head is masculine but a tad strong for my tastes, he has decent ears. He has a good lay-back of shoulder, moderate angulation fore and aft. He has a deep chest and length in loin. He was in excellent coat, moved out well in profile, just a tad untidy in front action.

Puppy Bitch

1st Place Soletrader Tina Turner (Mrs C & Miss N Blance)

This lady is just six months but in my opinion is very special. Her head is typical with pleasing eye, good length of ears. Long neck into well laid shoulders, needs to drop into her front but will do that as she matures. Stands on good straight legs. Well ribbed up and level topline. Quarters well developed. She moved out really well with accuracy in her footfall to take this class. In the challenge she had real attitude and really took my attention, she was so very close to top honours, Reserve Best Bitch and Best Puppy. If she carries on developing in this vein will have a bright future ahead of her.

2nd Place Erylan Pois De Senteur for Nottorg (Mrs A Taylor)

Nicley made lady, today she was at the growing stage and had lost her shape a little but that will sort itself out as she matures. Good head piece on her, feminine in expression enhanced by a dark eye. Strong neck into a decent lay back of shoulder, stands on good straight legs. Well made in body and has decent quarters. Moved freely with plenty of attitude.

1st Place Erylan Deesse Des Fleurs (Mr R, Mrs G & Miss E Foote & Mcaulay)

Smart girl with a lot to like about her, she holds her shape well and has good carriage. I liked her head; she has a dark eye and feminine expression. Strong neck, decent lay back of shoulder, would like her a little tighter in elbow. Plenty of depth to her chest, holds her topline well and has a harsh coat. Decent quarters on her, would like a shade more bend to her stifles. Moved out very well to take the class.

2nd Place Erylan Bohemian Rhapsody at Glanbeuno (Miss S E Whiting)

This young lady was not happy and wasn’t playing ball with me today. She is very pretty, has a good dark eye. Balanced angulation front and rear. I would like a shade more of her all through, but she should gain that as she matures.

1st Place Ch Soletrader Missy Elliott JW (Miss C L & Mrs E Cooper & Cadmore)

What a smart young lady she is just 18 months but everything is in the sight place. She has a super outline on the stack and just excels on the move both in profile and fore and aft. Beautiful feminine head and expression. Good long neck into a super front assembly, shoulders well laid back and a good return of forearm. Well bodied, good depth of chest, topline level. Super quarters with stifles well bent and correct tail. Coat harsh, moved around the ring as if she owned it, I thought she was cracking, my Best Bitch and Best of Breed.

2nd Place Ch/ir Ch Erylan Hera La Reine ShCEx (Mr R, Mrs G & Miss E Foote & Mcaulay)

Have done this lady well in the past and I like her a lot, out of a different mould to the winner. Now three years old, she is well made with a super head piece, ears of correct length. She has a well-made front assembly, neck long and shoulders are well laid back. Good through the body, ribs well rounded. In good coat, quarters well developed, tail short and well set and carried well on the move. Had a decent action on the move. Unfortunately, she was not as firm in topline on the move today, which cost her the class.

3rd Place Ch Soletrader Flora Good Time (Mrs E & Ms B Cadmore & Major)

1st Place Ir Ch Clonallan Just Beginning avec Erylan ShCM Ir Vet Ch VW (Mr R, Mrs G & Miss E Foote & Mcaulay)

A grand old lady who is 10-year-old. She is a strongly made girl, her head is well proportioned, long neck in to well laid shoulders, enough return of upper arm. Good in body, held her topline throughout. Quarters well made with a good bent of stifle. Coat in harsh condition, moved out well with a sound action. A credit to her owner. Best Veteran.

Another one with good type about her. She is feminine is head which is well proportioned, she has a kind eye which gives a pleasing expression. Balanced angles front and rear, hold her topline well. Decent quarters with stifles well bent. Coat in good harsh condition. Not as tidy on the move as the winner today, good tail carriage.
