Championship Show

23rd April 2023

I would like to thank the Club and Committee for offering me the opportunity to judge at our breed club show, always an honour. I was called upon as Referee for the BIS challenge. Both dog and bitch are lovely examples of the breed but on inspection I favoured the bitch on overall movement just outreaching the dog.

Stud Dog (3,2)

1 Sargent’s Ch Hushwing Wezzlee With Keriquel – This dog has certainly stamped his mark on this progeny presented. Masculine but not course in head, lovely eye and ear shape and set. Good angulation front and rear, well muscled and moved with ease, eating up the ground. Most progeny were uniform in head shape and overall body shape.

Brood Bitch (4,1)

1 Bower & Evans’ Penkhalas Kaska – Feminine bitch of lovely type. Very pretty in head and nice expression. Good angulation and body ratios. Well muscled and good tuck up. Moved soundly. Very typey in the offspring shown today and certainly easy to see the lines. The offspring showed very much the attributes of the dam. All moved well and was an easy win today.

2 Sargent’s ChKeriquel Aqualight – One I have judged and liked before awarding top hours to. Still a top contender in my book as is so well put together. Good should and angles front and rear. Moves with ease. Today she had the same progeny as the stud dog which all didn’t follow type in her case which went against her today.

3 Bolsover’s Charmedkelz All Seein Angel – A well muscled bitch but needs more schooling to get the best out of her. Unfortunately this brood bitch did not appear to stamp type on her progeny presented today.

Brace (6,2)

1 Smith – This pair is so well matched in shape and type. Just slightly different in sizes but both have lovely feminine heads. Good eye shape and obliquely set. Nice overall body shape and angulation. These two moved in perfect unison and have been very well trained to get the best out of them.

2 Seaman – Well matched pair of similar build and moved very well together once settled. These two present well in outline with good height to length ration and good length. Well muscled.

3 Platt – Super sweet pair and trouble to start with. Typey pair but masculine and feminine variations obvious. Both heads correct for their sexes. Size variations affected their flow of movement to start with but came together in the end.

Christine Grisbrooke Special Open Memorial Stakes (14,4)

1 Anderson’s Azgard Cohiba Uriakin – Best I’ve seen this boy to date. One I always believed would take time to mature and is coming on nicely. Agouti male with such a fabulous masculine head without any coarseness. Wonderful soft expression. Eyes almond shaped and well set. Good length of neck leading into well laid back shoulders. Good body shape and angulation well balanced. Good muscle overall. Good leg length aith slightly sloped pasterns. Moved with ground covering ease.

2 Platt’s Wightflight Einich – My BOB last time out and just gave way to 1 due to conditioning today. So feminine but not weak. Very nice head and eyes and ears good for shape, size and set. Angles well matched front and rear which presented a well balanced easy movement.

3 Fletcher’s CH Azgard Bolivar At Whitepeak – My Dog CC last time I judged and litter brother to class winner. Was starting to flag after a long day in the ring. This boy has many the same attributes as his brother but just didn’t match the movement of the first 2. This doesn’t take away from his excellent overall construction. Very nice head piece.
