Working Group Birmingham National Dog Show. Day 1,  May 2023

A very strong Working Group and many Champions within. Well done to everyone on their BOBs.

Shortlisted were the BDF, GT. Schnauzer, Leonberger, Tibetan Mastiff, PWD, Newfoundland, Boxer

Seven excellent representatives of their breeds and could change places easily.

BEST : 850 HOLLIFIELD, Mr R & HUMPHREYS, Mr Aaron - Ch RICHEARON PALDEN - TIBETAN MASTIFF – Dog. Black and rich tan markings. Impressive well boned and muscled lad. Superb skull and muzzle dark expressive eye. Deep chest and correct oval ribcage. Muscular rear quarters, with moderate angulation and straight hocks. Covered in a well presented quality jacket. Moving showed positive striding balanced gait from all angles.

RESERVE : 676 WILLIAMS, Mr Byron & NEWTON, Ms Louise G - Can Gr Ch UK Can Am Ch MacDuff's Critical Acclaim - PORTUGUESE WATER DOG – Dog Pushed really hard for top spot but sure it will come. Balanced outline on the stand with excellent presentation. Superb head ratios and dark expressive eye. Well boned straight front and well laid in shoulders. Rear so well-muscled giving a good ground cover with ease and is so effortless.

3rd : 604 BLAKE, Ms S - Ch Sandbears Masterpiece – NEWFOUNDLAND – Dog Broad head and good stop and muzzle. Nice tight eye free from haws. Good lay and strength to forequarters, firm top line. Strong rear quarters tail-set and carriage, which showed in purposeful ground cover. Well-presented quality jacket.

4th : 135 BROUGH, Mrs L & BROUGH, Mr G & CAIRNS, Mrs J - Ch GALICAR INVESTIGATING WITH LIMUBOX JW - BOXER - Dog: Eye catching shape on the stand. Super headpiece and dark eye so expressive. Neck flows into well placed shoulders and elbow fitting into deep chest. Firm top line and well-muscled thighs gives great drive and positive ground cover retaining balance.
