East of England Championship Show 6-9th July 2023

Sadly the last show of the Society which holds so many memories for me with notable wins as an Exhibitor and as a Judge of several breeds, Many thanks to the Committee for the invitation and hospitality and sterling work over the years and to my excellent stewards today and Exhibitors for braving the multiple weather conditions.

1556. Leonberger - Puppy Dog Entries: 4 Absentees: 2

1ST 3588 - Dragongardens Turn It On at Billboos (Imp Swe) (Mr A P & Mrs P A & Mr W Crawley) 11mths makes a good shape on the stand, richly coloured jacket. Good mask and pigment, eye colour and shape. Skull and muzzle developing well at this stage. Depth and width of chest good for overall size and bone. Ample stifle and muscle development. Moving still needs to tighten in rear but will come.

2ND 3564 - Lendevers Spring Tide (Miss C Harwood) 8 mths quite raw at this stage as to be expected. Skull and muzzle still changing, nice dark eye and mask with good bite. Moved out fair but needs more balance and fluidity for me. Ample neck and front assembly, chest needs more depth and width. Just needs more time to come together.

1557. Leonberger - Junior Dog 2 abs

1ST 3560 - Alfross Tulabo Aberyscir (Mrs G M Crooks) 13 mths Good shape on the stand, good mask and eye shape and colour, skull to muzzle ratios developing well. Good front assembly and chest developing well with good fit of elbows, good bone to front legs and good feet. Firm in back with good croup and tail set. Moved out well fore and aft with good side gait and tail carriage. Harsh outer jacket and with undercoat.

2ND 3558 - Debbollinby Mighty Thunder (Mrs D S Charwin) 15 mths richly coloured lad, today lacking some undercoat but harsh outer coat. Skull and muzzle ratios developing well good mask, medium colour to eye. Neck fits well into front assembly. Chest depth and width in balance at this stage nice croup and tail set. Moved out well fore and aft. Will change places with 1 many times.

1558. Leonberger - Yearling Dog 4 abs 2

1ST 3595 - Amathus Karmer (Mrs S M Thomas) 18mths Good bone for size make and shape on the stand. Good width to skull and depth to muzzle with good bite, dark mask, oval eye of good colour for coat tone. Ample neck and front angles, chest developing well for depth and width, firm top line, and moderate bend of stifle and firm hocks, nice croup and tail set. Moving showed a balance action with forward reach and drive holding a good shape. Harsh outer jacket undercoat about to blow.

2ND 3551 - Morwinas Yggdrasdil Nui (Mrs M J & Mr J Amesbury) 21 mths. Darker well boned lad, with more jacket than 1 today. Skull and muzzle developing well with dark mask and good bite, eye colour. Moderate neck and chest width and depth. Good croup and tail set. Moderate in stifles and firm hocks on the stand on good feet. Moving was unbalanced thus being close in hock going away today,

1559. Leonberger - Graduate Dog 2 1 abs

1ST 3562 - Bavaruki Lejon Jitterbug with Leonbeck (Mrs J & Mr A Haigh) 3 ½ yrs. old well boned lad make and shape on the stand. Good width to skull and muzzle depth and mask, eye could be tighter fitting. Depth to chest, well boned front legs pasterns could be firmer. Moving needed more positivity and balance.

1561. Leonberger - Limit Dog 5 0 abs

1ST 3557 - Davenheath Guilty Pleasure to Brenaljay (Mrs B Brown) 3 yrs. old. Well boned lad with good shape on the stand, rich colour and dark overlay quality jacket. Skull and muzzle ratios balanced and depth to muzzle with good bite. Moderate stop with oval dark eye and good mask. Neck fits into well placed front assembly, chest has depth and width with good elbow fit, top line was firm and croup moderate giving good tail set and carriage. Medium in stifles and stands on firm hocks and good feet. Moving showed a good forward reach and drive off hocks with balanced ground cover retaining his shape. RDCC Gave his sire DCC & BOB last time I judged.

2ND 3548 - Cleon Armchair Honey Bear at Morwinas (Mrs M J & Mr J Amesbury) almost 4 yrs. Darker overlay than1 and longer in couplings on the stand. Well boned deep in chest and good width. Skull to muzzle proportions good and dark well-shaped eye. Ample neck and front assembly, firm in top line, moderate stifles and firm hocks stands on good feet. Moved out well for and aft holding good shape, pasterns could be a tad firmer for me.

3RD 3575 - Davenheath Gladiator (Mrs H & Mrs G Niall & Mrs G Rothery) Litter brother to 1, many similar qualities. Today not moving with such balance as 1 and 2, another day places could easily be changed.

1562. Lionburger - Open Dog 4 0 abs

1ST 3592 - Ch. Corleone Navigator at Kalizmar (Mr L Studholme) DCC BOB and Working Group 2. Mature lad with good bone make and shape on the stand. Good skull proportions moderate stop and good depth to muzzle, tidy flews and dentition. Eye of good colour and shape. Neck is moderate into well laid shoulders and width to chest well fitting elbows, stands on good feet. Firm in top line and loins with rounded rump and good tail set and carriage. Medium bend to stifles and strong hocks and muscling. Moving showed drive and reach retaining a balanced fluid ground covering action. Well-handled and presented.

2ND 3584 - Lionscourt Prince Kuhio with Onaway (Mrs D Read) Another mature lad, richly coloured and slight darker overlay. Well boned, skull has good ratios to muzzle, moderate stop and eye is oval and dark, with good mask and pigmentation, and bite. Neck fits into well laid front assembly, stands on straight front legs good feet. Chest has depth, toppling is firm loins broad slight slope of croup with good tail set and carriage. Moving once settled and in a balanced stride covered the ground well with ease.

3RD 3547 - Ch. Sulandi Bring Me Sunshine (Miss Z Alexander)

1565. Leonberger - Minor Puppy Bitch 4 0 abs

Here some promising babies, 1, 2, 3, sired by BOB.

1ST 3593 - Leorus Thats Amore (Mr L Studholme) 8 mths Rich gold coloured with nice mask. Skull and muzzle proportions developing well with good bite, moderate stope lovely eye shape and colour. Neck fits well into front assembly, chest developing well at this stage for depth and width with good elbow fit. Straight front legs good pasterns and feet. Loins starting firm as is rear muscle tone. Moving showed a good sound positive gait from all angles.

2ND 3567 - Leosrus Powers That Be (Miss J K Herod) litter mate to 1 many similar qualities. Richly coloured feminine baby. Developing on the right lines just not quite as positive as 1 on the move today but this will come.

1ST 3589 - Simberger Perfect Blend (Mrs L Simpson) 11 mths Feminine outline richly coloured and slight overlay, on the stand with good shape bone and balance. Skull to muzzle ratios balanced moderate stop with oval dark eye, muzzle has depth with good bite. Nice reach of neck into well laid shoulders, chest has depth and width good elbow fit, stands on straight front legs and good pasterns and feet. Top line and loins starting to firm, slight slope to croup giving good tail set and carriage. Moving showed a balanced forward reach and positive hind action retaining shape and balance.

2ND 3593 - Leorus Thats Amore (Mr L Studholme)

1567. Leonberger - Junior Bitch 2 0 abs

1ST 3559 - Debbollinby Thunder Kiss (Mrs D S Charwin) 15 mths preferred her overall make and shape to 2. Not in her best clothes as coat blown but this will come back. Nice mask and head proportions eye and bite. Needs time to develop on for bone and substance. On the move not giving her best actions today as erratic loosing fluidity and balance.

2ND 3583 - Bavaruki Suba Swish at Onaway (Mrs D Read) longer cast and made on the stand another that needs time to come together at this stage of development. Good eye colour for coat tone. On the move was giving handler a hard time as paced most of the time, will need practice to break the habit and patience.

1568. Leonberger - Yearling Bitch 2 0 abs 1 w

During this class it was thundering and lightening and sadly upset the other bitch totally unsettling her.

1ST 3586 - Saljay Tgo Pink Cadillac (Mr J Sherwood)

feminine developing well for balance and shape on the stand. Good mask and skull and muzzle shape and dentition eye lighter as was lighter in coat colour and tone. Ample neck and front assembly, and chest development, firm in top line and muscling to rear. Moved out well for and aft. Harsh well-presented jacket.

1569. Leonberger - Graduate Bitch 6 2 abs

1ST 3582 - Nexgen Bella Donna (Mr G & Mrs L Raynor) 2yrs Feminine silhouette on the stand with good bone make and shape. Head has good skull to muzzle ratios, moderate stop with good eye shape and colour, tidy flews and good dentition. Ample reach of neck into well laid shoulders, depth to chest and good width and elbow fit, stands on straight front legs good pasterns and feet. Top line is firm rounded rump good tail set and carriage. As ground was wet, totally unknown handler to her moved her out with balance and fluidity showing a positive ground covering action from all angles, thus showing her superb temperament. Well-presented quality jacket. In the challenge showed her socks of moving. RBCC

2ND 3578 - Waterscape Cosmopolitan (Mr C & Mrs H Perkins) Rich coloured feminine outline on the stand. Good skull to muzzle ratios and eye colour. Ample neck. Depth of brisket, straight front legs would like firmer pasterns as this showed on the free stand and coming towards.

1ST 3569 - Vanitza Delicious Candy at Leovanna (Imp Bgr) (Mr K & Mrs S Jones). 4yrs. richly coloured mature feminine silhouette on the stand. Good width to skull moderate stop and depth of muzzle with good tight flews and dentition. Dark mask good oval dark eye and good ear set. Nice reach of neck into well laid shoulders, chest has depth and width with well-fitting elbows straight front legs and good feet. Firm in top line broad loins and ample bend of stifles firm hock. Slight slope to croup giving good tail set and carriage. Showed sound drive off hocks and good reach in front covering the ground with ease and retaining shape and balance. Harsh well-presented jacket. BCC.

2ND 3594 - Velikty Medved Angara Hug Kalizmar (Mr L Studholme) 2 yrs. Another quality feminine well-made outline on the stand. Skull proportions balanced to muzzle tidy flews and good bite. Oval eye of good colour used ears giving lovely expression. Nice reach of neck into well placed shoulders, depth to brisket and width to chest and good elbow fit. Top line firm with well-rounded round slight slope of croup giving good tail set and carriage. Moving was a shade closer in hock to start with but soon found a good striding ground covering action. Well-presented quality jacket. Promising future ahead.

3RD 3570 - Anjaleo Coconut Ice to Bavaruki (Mrs J A Jones)

1ST 3556 - Ch. Davenheath Gipsy Girl to Brenaljay JW (Mrs B Brown) Littermate to RDCC. Good feminine outline on the stand rich colouring. Balanced ratios to skull and muzzle with good dentition and mask, eye oval and moderate stop. Nice neck inti well lid shoulders, depth to brisket and width to chest stands on well boned legs, feet could be tighter for me. Moving today was a little loose in front action and not giving her all off her hocks.

2ND 3553 - Ch. Skjaergaadens Riding The Cribbar (Imp Nor) JW (Mr R & Mrs J Bailey) 5 yrs Dark mask and eye balanced in skull muzzle proportions. Longer cast on the stand than 1. Depth to brisket stands on good straight front legs and good feet. Ample bend of stifles and hocks. Moving today was not balanced and fluid in actions, perhaps upset somewhat by adverse weather today.
