My sincere thanks to the Officers and Committee for their invitation to judge at such a friendly, welcoming and well organised show. Thank you to all the exhibitors who entered and to my hard working Steward. It was a privilege to judge such a quality entry.

Golden Retrievers

Puppy (5,1w/d)

A class of extremely promising puppies, it was a very close decision between them.

1st Sloan’s Palmonas Glitterball. 9 month old pale bitch, in good coat and condition. Happy, confident and beautifully presented. Well balanced, with a lovely outline, not exaggerated in any way. Good dark pigmentation, correct bite and well balanced head with a kind expression. Good length of neck, well laid back shoulders and straight forelegs. Balanced throughout the body, level topline, well bent stifles and straight hocks. Moved well with a good free stride and held her topline on the move. BP. Pleased to see her awarded PG4.

2nd Bell’s Hoaaloha Ahyoka. Another well balanced puppy, very happy and confident, handled and presented well. 7 month old pale bitch in excellent coat and good condition. Lovely head and expression, with dark pigmentation and correct bite. Good length of neck, well laid back shoulders, straight forelegs and good depth and spring of rib. Well balanced through the body, well bent stifles, straight hocks. Well boned and good feet. Moved well once settled. I look forward to seeing her as she matures.

3rd Bell’s Hoaaloha Kealoha.

Junior (4, 2abs)

1st Gerhold’s Navilis Vivat Vivaldi (IMP UKR) NAF TAF. A young dog I have watched with interest for a while, he did not disappoint. Just 12 months old and a little excitable today but very well balanced with a good outline. Nicely balanced head with dark pigmentation, correct bite and kind expression. Good length of neck, well laid back shoulders, straight forelegs and good depth of chest and rib. Well balanced throughout, short coupled, well bent stifles and straight hocks. Good topline and tailset. Very happy and confident on the move, with a good free stride, keeping his topline level and carrying his tail level. More settled in the challenge and deserving of BOB. Very pleased to see him shortlisted in a very strong group, especially as he is still a youngster.

2nd Keay & Youngson’s Treeveville Coastguard (AI). Another nice young pale dog. 17 month old and in good condition. Well presented and handled. Nicely balanced throughout, good head and expression, correct bite and good length of neck. Good depth and spring of rib. Well bent stifles. Level topline. Moved well with a good stride, a little slow at times and carried his tail a little high for my personal preference.

Post Graduate (3,2abs)

1st Gerhold’s Navilis Nouveau Venu (IMP UKR) JW. Alone in his class but a thoroughly deserving winner. Just 2 years old and in excellent condition. Well presented and handled. Well balanced outline. Lovely light gold coat, good pigmentation and correct bite, Nice balanced head, Good length of neck and well laid back shoulders. Good depth and spring of rib. Short coupled and strong through loin. Level topline, good tailset and tail carriage. Moved well with drive and free stride, a little excitable at times but enjoying his day.

Open (7, 5abs)

1st Bennett’s Gold Totem Ma Belle (IMP RUS). Quality 22 month old bitch in lovely golden coat, presented well and handled beautifully. Lovely feminine head and expression, with good pigmentation and correct bite. Nicely balanced throughout and not exaggerated in anyway. Good length of neck and well placed shoulders. Good depth of rib and short coupled. Well bent stifles and straight hocks. Good topline. Moved well with drive and a good stride.

2nd Taylor’s Stormford Honeysuckle ShCM. Another super quality bitch that I have had the pleasure of judging before. At 10 years old she can still show the youngsters how showing should be done. Still in great condition and enjoying her day. Lovely head and expression, good coat and handled beautifully. Good length of neck and well placed shoulders. Nice balance throughout body, well bent stifles, straight hocks and good feet. Level topline and she carried her tail well on the move. Moved very well, for a lady of her age, with a good free stride.
