Cocker Spaniel Club Of Lancashire

My sincere thanks to the Officers and Committee for inviting me to judge this lovely, friendly, and welcoming show. To my stewards who kept the ring running smoothly, and finally to the exhibitors for entering their lovely dogs and giving me the honour of judging them, and for their kind acceptance of my decisions. I was thoroughly spoilt with the depth of quality throughout and it was a case of splitting hairs on a number of occasions. I had a truly wonderful day.

MPD – AC - 4 (1) – headed by two quality young males

1st – Reader’s Medan Agan Time For Stars at Kaniboo (Imp Fr)

Typey young black of 7 months. Loved him for his overall make and shape, and felt he presented a lovely balanced picture both standing on and the move, which he did well once settled. Whilst I did prefer the head and expression of 2, I felt this young man had the edge on maturity through his body to take this class over another lovely boy. Well-presented and handled, I feel he is one to watch

 2nd – Young’s Canyonn Black Caviar

Another very nice young black baby of 6 month. Close up to 1, he is of the type and quality one would expect from this kennel. Lovely head for age and melting expression, clean neck and shoulders and nicely balanced angulation front and rear. He too moved well once he settled into the job at hand, another one to watch.

3rd – Preston’s Brooksbeauty Ryder

MPB – AC – 9 – This was a super quality class where I could easily have awarded 6 first places.

1st – Young’s Canyonn Classic Vision – BMPIS

2nd – Whitehead’s Canyonn Classic Impact

Two super litter sisters headed this lovely class who, at 6 months of age, are both out of the top draw and I am sure they will switch places on many occasions. Of excellent breed type they both have the prettiest of heads and lovely expressions, super construction front and rear and stand on the best of legs and feet. They are also both well made through the body, with good bone and substance for age. Both were put down to perfection and presented to a T, and moved out well; however, it was the ground covering movement with perfect footfall from the minute she entered the ring of 1(which could have shown a few adults how it is done), combined with her commanding ring presence, which ultimately gave her this super class. Loved them both and would have taken them both home in a flash. Will follow their careers with much interest.

3rd – Reader’s Tarrendayle A Moment Like This at Kaniboo (Imp Aus) NAF – another lovely black girl who completed this lovely trio.

PD – AC – 2

1st – Bayliss’ Shirepark Sir Francis Drake by Wilanorah

Having judged this typey B/R boy at 9 months of age, I am pleased to see that at 2 months down the line he is continuing to mature well through his short, well-balanced body. He continues to please with his head and expression, good fore-chest, and nice angulation all though; and he moved around the ring soundly with drive.

2nd – Pendlebury’s Rockllocers Coconut Husk at Sandabys

11-month golden boy with plenty of bone and substance, but I wouldn’t want any more of him. Nicely balanced, well worked masculine head with expressive eyes. Strong neck, and nicely developed fore-chest; he has big ribs. and a nice rear with good second thigh development. A tad erratic to start, he moved well once settled.

PB – AC – 6 (1)

1st – Whiting’s Annilann Miss Scary Poppins

Quality B/R of almost 12 months. Lovely balanced head with a bright and mischievous expression to match her character that made me smile. Of a lovely type she is well made all through with good body bone and rib, and balanced angulation fore and aft. She used her nicely muscled quarters to propel her soundly around the ring.

2nd – Whitehead’s Ryallcourt Tandy Floss

At 10 months this light B/R/T is another quality young female with so much to like. I particularly liked her front construction with her well placed shoulders, nice length and return of upper arm, and excellent fore chest. She presents a lovely balanced outline both stacked and on the move but was just a tad unsettled going away.

3rd – Cox’s Kimapa Kune Kitche

J D&B – AC – 3

1st – Ward’s Wensum Dancing In The Dark – RBIS

At 16 months of age, this quality black young lady has the prettiest, most beautifully balanced correct head and melting expression. Of super type, she presents a lovely balanced outline which flows from head to tail, and she stands four-square on nicely boned legs and neat feet. Good body and substance, and lovely angulation all through. Happy, sound mover showing good drive. Presented in good coat and condition and sympathetically handled. She stayed in my mind all day and continued to make a good account of herself in the challenge to take RBIS over some super competition.

2nd – Beever’s Dandyjan Tiny Dancer

16-month B/R, who is another super pretty young female. Of a similar type to 1, she too has a lovely head piece and expression. Nice bone and substance. Short and compact body with big, deep ribs. She is nicely angulated front and rear, with a big peachy bum and good second thigh. Another sound mover who was well presented. Just felt 1 was cleaner through the neck and shoulders.

3rd – Whiteley’s Glowhill Gallivant

SY D&B – AC – 5 (1)

1st – Collins’ Bartonholm Prince of Tides at Candyke JW

Typey B/R male of almost 22 months who is maturing well. Loved his nicely proportioned masculine head, which is not overdone and lovely eyes and expression. He is well off for bone and substance. Tidy, clean front. Strong, deep body and level top line. He used his nicely angulated and developed hindquarters to propel him around the ring with purpose. Well-handled and presented.

2nd – Mason’s Sandlauga Candy Crush

A fan of the ‘hot foot shuffle’ that had her handler working hard, this pretty headed B/R young lady needs to be handled to be fully appreciated. Short, cobby, and cockery this girl has good bone and substance. Her nicely developed fore-chest, width through the body and big peachy bum and muscled quarters also pleased. Once settled she moved soundly and happily.

3rd – Burns’ Villaspaniol Soaring Glory

M D&B – AC – 2

1st – Whitehead’s Ryallcourt Stitch in Time – BPIS

At just shy of 12 months, this quality light B/R female from the top draw is simply stunning from any angle. Of excellent make and shape, she flowed from her feminine, well-balanced head with lovely dark eyes and kind expression, through to her well-set tail. Excellent front construction and the best of legs and feet. Lovely deep ribs that reach well back, firm topline, and good turn of stifle with well-placed hocks. It all came together on the move where she drove out soundly with purpose. Presented in excellent condition and handled to advantage she pushed the older girls hard in the challenge for BIS but just gave way on overall maturity. Nevertheless, I absolutely loved her and will follow her future with interest.

2nd – Prydderch’s Rockllocers Soul Singer

Honest gold female of 2 years of good overall type and presenting a balance picture both standing and on the move. Pretty head with a lovely expression. Ok neck and shoulders, good bone, and substance. Nice ribs and short back, and nicely angulated rear quarters. Once settled, she moved well shown on a lose lead.

N D&B – AC – 5 (1 withdrawn)

1st – R Stitch in Time – repeat

2nd – G Gallivant

At 14 months this young B/R boy presents a nice, balanced outline. Lovely head piece and expression. Straight front, good length of neck and nicely placed clean shoulders. Good legs, bone and feet. Short back and good topline. Balanced angulation front and rear. Sound and happy on the move. Just felt he lacked maturity through the body, but he has plenty of time on his side.

3rd – R Coconut Husk at Sandabys

Special G D&B – Bk, B/T, or G – 5 (1)

1st – Ward’s Wensum Let’s Dance .

Very pretty 16-month golden girl with the most melting expression and kind eyes. Feminine but with substance. She has good legs and feet and is well balanced all through, I particularly liked how she flowed through her neck and nicely placed shoulders. A tad erratic to start, once she settled into the job at hand she moved well.

2nd - R Coconut Husk at Sandabys – repeat

3rd – Robertson’s Kastrian Illumination

Special G D&B – AOC than Bk, B/T, or G – 4

1st – Bevis & Norie-Miller’s Popocatepetl Tomfoolery - BOS

Impressive and eye-catching O/W boy. Masculine head which whilst his markings can make him appear coarse through the back skull, once you look past this and put your hands on him, this is not the case. Shown in excellent coat and condition, he presented a pleasing balanced outline both standing and on the move. He has the best of legs and super well-padded feet that were trimmed to perfection, as well as good bone and body, and strong well-developed quarters. He moved out well covering the ground with power and ease. Beautifully presented and handled to advantage.

2nd – Davis’ Annaside Winter’s moon

Nicely presented and handled, honest B/R female of good type with the most appealing balanced head and lovely dark expressive eyes. Pleasing front construction with nice return of upper arm. Straight front and good bone and substance. Her big deep ribs and well developed deep second thigh also appealed. Moved well.

3rd – Marsden’s Charivore Winter Solstice

PG D&B – AC – 6 (2)

1st – Kengyelics’ Hebdene Haute Couture - BIS

This attractive black female walked into the ring demanding my attention, and she certainly didn’t disappoint on handling. Of a classic type, she is full of quality and flowed from her lovely, beautifully balanced head and expressive eyes through to her well-set tail. She stands on the best of legs and feet and is well made all through with her super front assembly, good rear angulation, and lovely deep body in between. Using her well-developed quarters and correctly placed hocks, she moved soundly with purpose and drive, showing good footfall, and holding her strong firm topline. Beautifully handled and presented in super coat and condition. Getting better and better as the day progressed, she continued to demand attention in a quality line up and could not be denied BIS. Loved her.

2nd – Anslow’s – Esqueen Give Diamond for Shansart (Imp Pol)

Of a different type, this lovely B/R girl of 17 months pushed 1 hard. Lovely short, compact body with good depth and width all through, and a nicely rounded bum. Super head with expressive dark eyes of correct shape. Straight front and well developed fore-chest. Good turn of stifle with lovely width to second thigh and short hock to heel. Sound and positive on the move. Well-presented and handled, was unlucky to meet 1 on such good form.

3rd – W Let’s Dance

Bred by exhibitor – AC – 8

1st – Kengyelics’ Hebdene Harbour Nights

Another attractive typey black female from this kennel. Mature and presented in hard condition, she is balanced with super bone, depth and substance but still feminine, and has a very appealing head and expression. Super legs and feet, good angulation fore and aft and pleasing fore-chest. On the move, she used her well-muscled quarters to power around the ring.

2nd – Morris’ Riondel Blu Savana

Quality B/R girl of 14 months. Cobby and compact, her balanced cockery body is very well made with good bone, depth and width all through. Loved her balanced head and beautiful dark expressive eyes. Her front assembly is also very pleasing with her nicely placed shoulders, super upper arm and well-developed fore-chest. Strong quarters with good width of thigh. A confident, sound mover she pushed 1 hard just losing out on maturity.

3rd – Shinkfield & Lester’s Quettadene Queen of Stars JW – completed this trio of lovely females.

Not Bred by exhibitor – AC – 5 (2)

1st - R Coconut Husk at Sandabys - repeat

2nd – Daniels’ Charbonnel Dream Come True at Senoia

Sweet black female of good overall type and presenting a balanced outline. Pretty well-proportioned head and kind eye. Her body is short and compact, and she has good bone for her size. Moved ok. Nicely presented and sympathetically handled.

3rd – K Kune Kinch

SB – AC – 3

1st – R Soul Singer – repeat

2nd – Combes’ Tomarisroan Star Maker

Unplaced in the earlier super MPB class, this 7-month B/R girl is very much a baby but of good overall type and of nice make and shape. Neat front, ultra-short body, and nicely angulated quartered. Moved ok when she wasn’t looking for her owner.

3rd – Proudler’s Kimapa Kocka Kaia

Special Open D&B - Bk, B/T, or G – 1

1st – W Lets Dance – repeat

Special Open D&B – AOC than Bk, B/T, or G – 9 (4)

1st – Whiting’s Annilann Mister Allsorts JW

Having previously judged this B/R boy as a puppy when I did him well, it was nice to get my hands on the finished article. Nicely proportioned head and good eye, clean neck and shoulders, strong middle piece with plenty of heart room, and nicely developed rear quarters. With his balanced cockery outline he is of the type and quality you would expect to see from this kennel. Shown in good coat and condition, he moved happily with reach and drive.

2nd – Beever’s Snowgate Parti Over to DandyJan

Of a different type to 1, this is another well-made B/R boy with lots to like with his lovely well balanced masculine head and good expression, strong body properties and nice angulation all through. Whilst sound and true on the move, just preferred the overall free movement and extension on 1. Well presented.

3rd – Prydderch’s Rockllocers Blissful Blush

V D&B – AC – 5(1)

At 8 ½ years of age, this B/R male won this class on his sound accurate movement and good length of stride. Nice head and eye. Moderate length of neck and well-placed shoulders. Compact and square body with good bone, depth and width. Nicely angulated and muscled rear quarters. Handled to advantage.
