Nuneaton & District Canine Society

Nuneaton & District Canine Society Open Show 16th January 2022, Golden Retrievers. I was pleased to judge the breed at this show, my entry of dogs was excellent, especially the puppy class of 15 which made for some difficult decisions, some high tails on the day but overall, a quality entry making decisions difficult. Many thanks to the exhibitors for accepting my decisions on the day. Many thanks to the committee for their assistance and well-run show.

1st Falconer Mrs AE SONEVE SIMPLY SPECIAL FOR SIATHAM

11-month-old pale bitch who oozed quality, very well balanced, correct in size and shape for her age, feminine head with lovely dark pigment, straight front with lovely feet, good length of neck into correct well laid-back shoulders placing legs correctly under body, well balanced body with well sprung and deep ribs, lovely topline which she held on the move, well bent stifle and hocks well let down, correctly placed tail set , held level when in motion  She did not disappoint on the move with good drive and free movement. 2nd Foster Mr B & Mrs C EAU MY GOLD VD CORNER BROOK FOR AURISTELA (IMP NLD) another quality pale bitch of 8 months, also very well balanced, presented in lovely condition, head with kindly expression, balanced and of correct proportions, excellent pigment and correct dark eye, correct clean neck into well laid back shoulders, correct straight front with cat like feet, short coupled with well sprung ribs, topline level, correct rear quarters with tail set on correctly with back, moved freely with long stride, very close contender for 1st place.

My wow of the day, 13 month old gold bitch of beautiful quality she has to finish yet but everything is there, feminine expression, head balanced and well chiselled, lovely dark pigment, correct bite in strong jaws, clean neck of correct length, shoulders well laid back and of equal lengths in blade and upper arm, front of good bone and straight, correct feet, body short coupled with well sprung deep ribs, level topline with correct tail set, strong rear quarters, moved effortlessly with handler showing good free and powerful drive. 2nd Gerhold Mrs J NAVILIS NOUVEAU VENU (IMP. UA)

16-month-old mid gold boy of very good size, powerful and balanced, lovely balanced head with good chiselling, skull broad and masculine, strong jaw with correct bite, good length of neck into well placed shoulders, straight front of good bone, shoulders correct allowing legs to be correctly placed under dog, deep through the heart and ribs well sprung, topline level, rear quarters very good with good muscle definition, tail correct and used well on the move.

3½ year old gold boy of good size, head with kindly expression, broad and balanced with good chiselling, lovely dark eye completing the picture, good length of neck into well laid-back shoulders, a little heavy over the shoulders, straight front with good feet and bone, deep chest which was well sprung, level topline with correct tail carried level on the move, very strong rear quarters, moved well round the ring with handler.

2nd Pounds-Longhurst Mrs S MOSSBURN GALLOPING MAJOR

A youngster in the adult class, litter brother to my junior winning bitch on saying that he was stunning in appearance and just needs to develop, beautiful head so balanced, neck of good length and very clean, excellent shoulders putting legs well under body, straight well boned front with correct feet, level topline good depth of chest which has to finish, lovely rear angulation, moved very well with handler, just beaten by maturity.

6½ year old boy presented in lovely condition, one I have admired before, head well balanced and chiselled, dark eye and good pigmentation, strong powerful neck into well laid back shoulders, straight front with correct bone and good feet, chest well sprung with good depth of rib, elbows well placed to body, topline level with tail set correct and carried level, rear quarters strong muscled and of correct proportions giving a correct picture from the rear, he moved powerfully with good drive covering the ground freely. Best of Breed & Gundog G1   

2nd Loverock Mrs MC PUTJADE PEAKY BLINDER AT LOVISSA

4½ year old boy of mid gold, slightly heavier than my first place, balanced head with good chiselling broad skull and dark eye, slightly shorter in neck to one correct shoulder, straight front of good bone, correct feet, short coupled with good depth to chest, ribs well sprung, topline level, rear quarters strong and muscled. Tail set on correctly, moved soundly and freely round the ring.
