Many thanks to the club for inviting me to judge Golden Retrievers and as stand in judge for Labradors, the new location was very well set up and looks like a great location for the show going forward. Thank you to all the exhibitors for entering and giving me the opportunity to judge their dogs and for their acceptance of my decisions. Many thanks to my steward on the day for his very professional help.

Puppy (5 Entries, 1 Abs)

1st   Sloan, PALMONAS GLITTERBALL, 7mth old girl presented in lovely condition, very feminine head with lovely pigment, correct ear set, good length of neck into well laid-back shoulders, straight front with correct feet, development as it should be foe age, level top line with tail carried level with back used continuously while moving steadily around the ring. Best Puppy in Breed

2nd Walker & Roberts, GLOI YOU MAKE LOVING FUN, Mid gold girl shown in good condition, good pigment, different style from 1st in head although pleasing, good, correct length of muzzle equal to stop to occiput, clean neck into laid back shoulders, straight front and correct feet, level top line and well-developed rear quarters, correct tail used well on the move.

1st Foster, EAU MY GOLD V D CORNER BROOK FOR AURISTELA (IMP NLD) JW, 14mth old pale girl who I have watched in the ring before, pleasure to now go over her, beautiful head in correct proportions, dark eye and good pigmentation, correct ear set all making a very pleasing feminine picture, good clean neck into well laid back shoulders, well boned straight front with close fitting elbows, legs placed well under body, short coupled with deep ribs, correct level top line, lovely rear angulation, moved freely with drive, Best of Breed

1st Towers, Henderson & Bolano, GREY GOOSE NOVEMBER RAIN (IMP ESP) Mid gold boy of good size and excellent bone, lovely masculine head with good chiselling, broad in skull and well pigmented, dark eye making a lovely picture, clean neck into well laid shoulders, a little heavy in shoulders today which detracted from his outline, straight front, level top line, good in ribs and deep through the heart, tail carried well on the move driven by strong rear quarters.

2nd Wright, PALTON PAVAROTTI, dark gold boy of good size, masculine head, muscular neck, straight front, deep through the heart with well sprung ribs, muscular rear quarters, tail carried on level with back, not quite the picture of 1.

1st Holmes & Higgins, KELLYWILLOW AUGUSTUS 4-year-old upstanding boy pleasing head, muscular neck into correct shoulders, would benefit from less weight over shoulders, good bone, in front, chest of good depth, top line level, strong rear quarters moved ok with handler.

1st Ewart, BEAUPIPPIN DUSKY LILAC, a lovely well-made mid gold bitch, very feminine head with good pigmentation, clean in neck, good shoulder placement, straight front, short coupled with well sprung ribs, top line good with lovely tail set, strong rear second thighs, moved with drive, on another day would be contender for BOB

2nd Wright, PALTON PANETELA, 9-year-old boy who did not show his age, masculine head, good pigment, good length of neck, another with too much over the shoulders, correct front, deep in chest, level topline, well-muscled rear quarters, moved well.

1st Roberts, STORMROSE COCO CHANEL, 13 mth old chocolate bitch of quality type, broad in skull correct stop, nostrils well developed, correct eye set, clean and strong in neck, long well laid-back shoulders, legs well placed under body with close fitting elbows, good width of chest for age, topline level, good width of loin, strong well-developed hindquarters, correct feet, lovely tail set of correct type, moved effortlessly round the ring. No hesitation in awarding Best of Breed   

2nd Roberts, STORMROSE SIMPLY HEAVEN, Black girl presented in good coat, litter sister of 1, feminine in head, powerful in neck, shoulders well laid back, legs well under body, good width of chest, level topline, short coupled with good width of loin, well-turned stifle and hocks correct, tail correct did not have the presence of litter sister.

1st Roberts, BRONIA YOKANGA GOLD, 5-year-old yellow bitch of good type, correct in head, strong in neck, well boned straight front round feet, well sprung ribs, level in topline, tail set correct in type and set, rear hindquarters well-muscled and well let down hocks moved freely covering the ground.

1st Mr K & Mrs B F Roberts, STORMROSE GOLDEN FORTUNE JW SHCM VW, 10-year-old boy who was very much acting the puppy today, masculine in head and clean, powerful in neck and well placed into shoulders, good front with bone, correct feet, well sprung ribs, short coupled with good width to loins, strong rear hindquarters, correct tail carried well on the move, gave the handler a run for his money today.
