Shih Tzu Club

The Shih Tzu Club Summer Open Show Saturday 15th October 2022, Held at Rowley Regis Learning Campus, Rowley Regis.

Many thanks to the Shih Tzu Club for inviting me to judge my first Shih Tzu breed club open show, thank you to my two efficient and helpful Stewards what a team! Thank you to the committee for a well-run show and to all of the exhibitors who gave me the honour of their entries. I had a fabulous day and really enjoyed having my hands on so many lovely Shih Tzu.

MPB (6) 1. McIntyre’s Zeeva Double Take At Shanitau, Well balanced dark G/W bitch in good coat for her age, pretty feminine head, large dark round eyes placed well apart, wide muzzle, good width of jaw, arched neck, good front with a nice layback of shoulder, good spring of rib and depth of chest, level topline, high tail set, moved soundly. BPB & RBPIS

2.Maule’s Daltricia Jane Austen, Gold & white feminine bitch, nice outline and balance. Level topline, moved well, with good tail set and carriage. Nice head, dark eye and correct bite. Just 6 months. Well presented and handled.

3.Hiscock’s Ethelsmead Working Girl At Shidizzle.

PB (4, 2abs) 1. De La Cour’s Coursani Sand Queen, beautifully presented, 11 month old g/w bitch nice round head and dark round eye, good nose placement with wide muzzle and wide open nostrils, wide jaw, warm expression, good shoulder angulation and length of upper arm, well bodied, good substance throughout, with a good spring of rib and depth of chest, level topline, good tail carriage, moved soundly.

2. Hiscock’s Ethelsmead Working Girl At Shidizzle. 3rd in MPB g/w just 6 months, nice head and expression, well balanced in outline, nice shoulder placement and corresponding upper arm, good depth of chest and spring of rib for age, level topline, moved soundly showing full pads.

JB (5, 3abs) 1. Brown’s Rossvale Little Black Dress, Lovely smaller B/W bitch, so feminine and has everything in proportion, well balanced in outline, loved her shape, pretty head with correct width of muzzle and nose placement and large dark round eyes, correct bite, arched neck, for me I would prefer a slightly better layback of shoulder, good spring of rib and depth of chest, good tail set and carriage, level topline which she held on the move, good front extension and rear drive showing full pads.

2. Stevenson’s Chanikos Tangerine Dream Of Shenleyvale. Larger brindle and white bitch, good outline and substance, good spring of rib, nice head with a correct bite, moved well.

YB (5, 1abs) 1. Hiscock’s Matsuba Crowning Glory At Shidizzle, G/w feminine bitch, nice round head and dark round eye, nice balanced outline with a level topline held on the move, good spring of rib and depth of chest, fair layback of shoulder and return of upper arm, moved well with style.

2. Kranc’s Lucky Arrow Sanchi (Imp Pol) well presented pale gold bitch, dark round eye, good bite, low set ears, a feminine bitch, nicely constructed with a level topline, tail was well set but could be carried higher. Handled well and moved soundly.

2. Coupland’s Tzusweet Black Pearl.

NB (4,1abs) 1. Maule’s Daltricia Jane Austin 2nd in MPB.

2. Coupland’s Tzusweet Black Pearl. solid black feminine bitch, slightly longer cast than 1, lovely sweet expression with round dark eyes and nice head shape, good width of muzzle, wide nostrils and a tip tilted nose, nice shoulder and length of upper arm, level top line, good spring of rib and depth of chest, moved soundly, coat coming on. Just preferred the overall balance of 1.

3. Stevenson’s Chanikos Tangerine Dream Of Shenleyvale.

Spl BB (6,1abs) 1. Johnson & Rose’s Snoops Golden Lady, Solid gold 7 year old bitch, beautifully presented in good condition and excellent coat, nice head with a dark round eye, good nose placement and correct bite, well balanced in outline, good shoulder and upper arm, good depth of chest and spring of rib, level top line, carried her tail well, sound on the move.

2. Skawska’s Mapimakastar Suzie Hugo, White and Gold bitch balanced outline, level topline, well set tail with good carriage, feminine head with correct bite, slightly wide in front, but had good rear movement showing full pads, moved well.

3. Kranc’s Lucky Arrow Viva (Imp Pol)

GB (2,1abs) 1. Skawska’ s Mapimakastar Delilah Hugo, Compact G/w bitch, sweet head, dark eye and correct bite, fair length of neck and shoulder placement, good length of upper arm, slightly wide in front, level topline carried tail well on the move.

PGB (7,2abs) 1. Swift’s Chanikos Poket Full O’Dreams For Shanjora, Pale G/w bitch with a lovely outline, feminine head, dark eye, low set ears, good width of jaw, nice length of neck leading into a fair layback of shoulder and return of upper arm, level topline, fair spring of rib and good depth of chest, sound and stylish on the move.

2. De La Cour’s Cavateena Situla Scarlet For Lavril (GKC) Smaller feminine g/w bitch nice balance in outline, level topline, nice side movement, preferred the movement on 1 on the day.

3. Bridge’s Sampa Kaja Dolma Mo.

LB (9,2abs) 1. Briggs’ Ch Warathwaite Royal Diva, Beautiful pale gold and white bitch, loved her head, dark round eye and soft expression, she has a square padded muzzle, a slightly undershot bite and good nose placement, good length of neck with a well laid shoulder and a good front assembly, lovely shoulder and upper arm, good depth of chest and spring of rib, firm loin and level topline, a good tail set and carried her tail well on the move. She had a lovely balance standing and, on the move, she moved and showed well to win Best Bitch but let herself down in the challenge for BIS, pleased to award her BOS in Show.

2. Williams’ Paliden Golden Showers, Solid gold smaller than 1, nice head with a dark round eye, good width of muzzle and nose placement well set ears with long ear leathers, well balanced with a good spring of rib, level topline. Moved well.

3. Stevens’ Peekin Hoi-Tee-Toi-Tee-Tu.

OB (7,2abs) 1. Forbes’ Ch Paliden Bucks Fizz To Ekland, B/M Gold bitch shown in lovely condition, feminine with a nice shape and overall balance, nice head with a dark round eye, good length of neck with well laid shoulders and corresponding length of upper arm, nice depth of chest and spring of rib and a firm loin, moved well with style, well handled and presented, RBB.

2. Cannon & Paczkowski’s Ch Corrlough Ice Maiden, Very feminine g/w bitch with a good front assembly, well laid shoulders and good length of upper arm, good rear angulation, level topline with a good tail set. Nicely bodied, with a warm expression and nice head with a good nose placement. Sound on the move and showed on her own terms.

3. De La Cour’s Santosha Ice Queen Of Coursani.

VB (6,1abs) 1. Somer’s Zeeva Shadow Dancing With Meilijo, G/W bitch well balanced throughout with a nice head, dark eye and correct bite, good length of upper arm, level topline, sound on the move, with a nice outline standing and on the move. I liked her attitude and arrogance, presented in lovely condition with a full coat.

 2. Cannon & Paczkowski’s Ch Ziams Mary-Lou JW (ImpSwe) Well made clipped off g/w bitch, sweet head, nice expression, wide muzzle and dark round eye, very good front, shoulder placement and length of upper arm, best forechest here today, good depth of brisket and spring of rib, level topline, good tail set and carriage, would like slightly more turn of stifle for balance, but she moved well with extension and drive and really enjoyed herself in the ring.

 3. Johnson & Rose’s Snoops Golden Lady.

Spl Trimmed/Cut Down B (5, 3abs) 1. Cannon & Paczkowski’s Ch Ziams Mary-Lou JW (ImpSwe) 2nd In VB.

2. Turner’s Matsuba Show Me Heaven, Well balanced gold bitch, nice head dark eye, wide jaw, well bodied, held her topline on the move, carried her tail well and showed full pads.

MPD (7,2abs) 1. Turner’s Rossvale Fantastic Dream At Charonnis, Self masked gold puppy dog 7 months, what a lovely chunky sturdy boy, loved his shape and balance, nice large round head, with low set ears, large round dark eyes, square muzzle well set nose with wide open nostrils, lovely warm expression, lovely wide jaw and nice dentition, with a chin developing well. Good length of neck for his age and nice layback of shoulder with a good return of upper arm, forelegs well under the body, straight and well boned, good width of body throughout, good depth of chest and spring of rib, well ribbed back with the correct length of loin, balanced front and rear angulation, still slightly up on the backend at the moment which is normal for his age, but when he moved his topline was level and he had good extension in front and drive from the rear, lovely high tailset and carriage, very sound on the move, handled and presented so well by his young handler. Pleased to award him BPD & BPIS.

2. Gilkes’ Zeeva Cool Dude, Beautiful rich dark gold & white dog with a good outline and balance, very finished in appearance, lovely head, dark round eye, wide muzzle with good nose placement, wide nostrils, correct bite, low set ears, good length of neck and shoulder placement, good spring of rib and depth of brisket, level topline, he moved well, and was beautifully presented and well handled, today I preferred the tail carriage, sturdiness, reach and drive of 1.

3. Maule’s Daltricia Jack Higgins

PD (3,2abs) 1. Provost’s Paliden Magic Star, Dark gold & white masculine dog, with good front and rear balance, placed VHC in the Minor puppy class, nice head, level topline, moved well.

JD (3) 1. De La Cour’s Santosha Memory Of Love, Solid gold mature dog, lovely shape and balance, Lovely large round head, dark round eyes with a good width apart, square muzzle, well set tip tilted nose, excellent width of jaw, correct bite and good dentition, sturdy with good substance and body, good depth of chest and spring of rib, firm strong loin, level topline with a good tail set and carriage. Moved soundly with reach and drive, showing full pad. Well presented and handled, he is so well made and able to free stand keeping his shape both standing and on the move. One to watch for the future.

2. Barrell’s Mifcah’s By Royal Command, Pale g/w dog elegant and mature, not the head and expression of 1, but still a lot to like, dark round eye, good width of jaw, good width of body, level topline, good tail set carried well, moved soundly. Handled well.

3. Stevens’ Peekin Reggie Rebel-Tu

YD (2) 1. Bradshaw & Symonds’ Cremefern Trigger A Storm At Symaraju JW, Sturdy g/w dog with good substance and body, Masculine round head, with dark round eye and well placed tip tilted nose, wide muzzle and nostrils, correct bite, low set ears, nice shoulder placement, level topline, good spring of rib and depth of chest, well set tail, moved soundly and showed full pad going away. A really nice well-constructed dog.

2. Steven’s Peekin Jazz-A-Matazz-Tu, G/w dog with a nice shape, finer than 1 throughout, level topline with a good tail set, sweet expression and nice head, moved well.

ND (1) 1. Maule’s Daltricia Jack Higgins, Pale gold & white dog 3rd in Minor Puppy Dog, lovely shape, nice head with a dark eye, level topline and good tail set, moved well.

Spl BD (1) 1. Skawska’s Mapimakastar Jason Mio, Dark brindle & white dog, nice balanced front and rear angulation, sturdy with good substance, large round head with a dark round eye giving a warm expression, fair length of neck and layback of shoulder, good depth of chest and spring of rib, firm loin, tail set could be higher, moved well with extension and rear drive.

GD (1) 1. Sullivan & Diffey’s Marhilway Driving Edge At Jacquinta, Dark gold & white masculine dog, nice shape and balance. Round head with a dark round eye, good wide jaw and dentition, good depth of chest and spring of rib, well ribbed back with a good loin to rib ratio, level topline, moved soundly and showed well.

PGD (3,1abs) 1. Skawska’s Mapimakastar Jason Mio, 1st in SBD

2. Wilbourne’s Stardante Han Sum Model With Simbalove, well coated and nicely presented g/w dog moved well, level topline, dark eye, not the substance or balance of my first place, moved well.

LD (7,4abs) 1. Briggs’ Warathwaite The Kingslayer, Well balanced dark gold & white dog, sturdy with good bone and substance throughout, lovely masculine head with a dark round eyes set well apart, Short square muzzle and wide open nostrils giving a lovely expression, low set ears with long ear leathers and a good length of neck leading into a well laid shoulder and good length of upper arm, good depth of brisket, strong straight forelegs with elbows held in, sloping pasterns and large rounded well padded feet, he has a good spring of rib and depth of chest and is well ribbed back with a strong loin, level topline and a good tail set, a good tail carriage on the move, he is a sound mover with good front extension and rear drive. So much to like about him, beautifully presented and well handled, he has a bright future ahead, was pleased to award him Best Dog & BIS.

Kubis’ Tiziano Serenissima, Very dark gold & white dog well balanced, nice head, dark round eye and excellent mouth, good width throughout, good length of neck, good spring of rib and depth of chest, with a good length of ribcage and firm loin, level topline, with good tail carriage, moved soundly and showed well, well handled.

Silsbury’s J’Adoremy Red Bounty Forever.

OD (5,1abs) 1. Maule’s Ch Daltricia Jamie Lee JW, This smart black & white dog is in excellent condition and muscle tone, he is well balanced throughout, well constructed and sturdy, lovely to go over with a strong masculine head, wide muzzle and jaw, low set ears with long ear leathers, a good length of neck leading into a well laid shoulder with a good length of upper arm, Strong well boned straight forelegs with elbows held in, good pasterns and large well padded feet. He has a good depth of chest and spring of rib with a strong firm loin, good rear angulation and strong hocks, he powers around the ring and is so sound on the move. Pleased to award him RBD & RBIS.

De La Cour’s Santosha Dark Secret With Coursani This solid black dog really appealed to me for his balanced outline and sound movement, he is very nicely constructed and smaller all through than 1, well presented and handled, he was unlucky to be in the same class as 1 today, He has a lovely round head, dark round eye, square muzzle and a well set nose, wide jaw and lovely expression. Balanced angulation fore and aft, level topline, well set tail that he carried well over his back, he moved well showing full pad. A lot to like about him.

Sullivan’s Ch Jacquinta Lets Go Andy JW.

VD (5,2abs) 1. Silsbury’s J’Adoremy Thunderbolt Zuse ShCM, Free moving well balanced g/w dog, nice head and dark round eye, wide jaw a bit longer in nose but had wide open nostrils, good length of neck, level topline good spring of rib, depth of chest and well ribbed back, he has a nice outline and is in good condition, handled and presented well. Pleased to award him BVIS.

2. Turner’s Ch Artelino Moomins Adventure, G/w heavier set dog, very sturdy and strong in bone, lovely large round head with a large dark round eye, wide muzzle and wide jaw, level topline and good tail carriage, showed full pads on the move.

3. Yeoman’s Kezang Golden Idol.

Spl Trimmed/Cut Down D. (1) 1. Turner’s Charonnis Vega High Roller, Rich gold dog nicely balanced, level topline, good body and substance, with a nice round head and dark round eye. Handled well by his young handler and enjoyed his day out.
