London Bulldog Society

BULLDOG – Steve Parker (Albionpride)

London Bulldog Society - Sunday 12th June 2022

I would like to thank the Officers and Committee of the London Bulldog Society for inviting me to judge this Jubilee Show. I had an entry of 69 from 47 dogs and on the day I had 30 dogs to go over. It has been almost 3 years to the day I last judged Bulldogs due to the COVID situation and postponements.

On the whole the quality of the exhibits was very good but there were a few with narrow jaws and one or two lame, one of which was sound for the class but was crate stiff in the challenge and this swung my decision somewhat. The weather also came into play as it was quite hot and a few of the exhibits and myself were panting which altered their expressions. We as a breed have a lot to be proud of and today I judged very healthy Bulldogs. Long live the Queen, long live the Bulldog.

CLASS 1 - VETERAN DOG or BITCH (3,1)

1. Burchell – Lynmans Limited Edition Dannoble

7 ½ year old. W&R. Bitch. Presented in tip top condition. Good feminine head qualities with neat rose ears. Clear eyes. Good nose with split nose roll. Well let down brisket. Good bone to front. Very nice topline that has not gone dippy with age. Good healthy tail. Moved very well. Very pleased to award this girl BVIS.

CLASS 2 – MINOR PUPPY DOG (3,1)

1. Ironmonger – Mystyle Red Ensign (taf)

Red by name, red by nature. I have seen this dog on social media and was very excited to get my hands on him. He did not disappoint. This is a very well put together 9 month old dog who should have a great future infront of him. Standard well balanced size dog. Red. Super brick shaped head with flat skull of good width and length. Neat thin rose ears with great placement. Dark round eyes. Black well placed nose topped off by a split nose roll. Good mouth and dentition. Really good front with tacked on shoulder. Good forelegs. Excellent topline. Good strong rear. Moved well in his class but not so well in the challenge.

2. McCoy – Rosebull’s Albert

7 month old. R&W. Wide open nostrils. Good brisket and pleasant front. Fair topline but a little longer than first. OK rear with screwtail. Moved okay.

CLASS 3 – PUPPY DOG (2,0)

1. Dearlove – Fat Puppys Black or White (Imp) (naf) (taf)

I simply loved this puppy. There is so much quality oozing from this dog. 10 month old. Brindle & White. Really exceptional head quality. Neat rose ears. Flat skull. Defined stop. Well placed dark round eyes with super pigmentation. Good jaw with good upsweep. Lovely layback. Nicely put together front with good bone to forelegs. Good forechest with well let down brisket. Correct pear shaped body with barrel of rib. Super topline and tuck up. Correct tail set and free moving tail. Moved very well indeed for a dog that had so far been lightly shown. I see a bright future for this boy. Very pleased he was in attendance today. Delighted to award him BPD, RBD and BPIS.

2. May – Sir Donald The Bold

Quite a character. R&W. 9 month old. He was a bit difficult for me to go over. Dark round eyes. Good open nostrils. Good topline. Moved okay.

CLASS 4 – JUNIOR DOG (1)

1. Davies – Baalzebul Cupid’s Beau

Stood alone today but would have stood out in a class of twenty. There was a lot to like about this dog but his movement today won it for me. He moved typically both coming and going. Moved with width at front and roll on the back. He moved with purpose with his head high. Super head piece with flat skull and rose ears. Dark well placed eyes. Lovely foreface with padded cheeks. Good muzzle with width of jaw and upsweep. Sour expression and that upside down U we seem to have lost a bit at the moment. Super put together front that was a perfect square. Good rib. Excellent neck and topline. I’ve said it once and will say it again, really nice movement when viewed from all aspects and wanted to be the best. Very happy to award him BD and BIS.

CLASS 5 - MAIDEN DOG (1)

1. Rodgers – Belushi Singer Man

W&R. 8 month old. Pleasing head with rose ears. Eyes round and dark. Well placed nose. Pleasing jaw. OK front to neat feet. Good rib.

CLASS 6 – GRADUATE DOG (5,1)

1. Hunter – Huntthorn Good Vibrations

R&W. Substantial all male looking bulldog. Good width of skull. Rose ears. Lovely length of neck. Shoulders were well tacked on. Square front with good bone to neat feet. Good toppling. Strong rear. Nice tail and set.

2. Rodgers – Ruakuri The Protector

Deep R&W dog. Nice head with good ears. Large black nose with wide open nostrils. Strong neck. Good shoulders. Plenty of bone to forelegs with a deep forechest and barrel of rib. Nice hindquarters. Moved okay.

CLASS 7 - MID LIMIT DOG (1)

1. Davies – Baalzebul Boo Boo Bear

2 ½ year old. Flashy with super head qualities. I really like the type this kennel is producing. Nice jaw with correct upsweep. Dark eyes. Well placed nose with wide open nostrils. Sour expression. Good reach and width of neck. Good topline. Nice rear angulation with a screw tail which was well placed low. Moved well.

CLASS 8 - OPEN DOG (4,2)

1. Stutter – Erimusbulls Cooper at Linmist

R&E. Lovely headed dog with flat skull. Very sour expression. Dark eyes. Correctly placed ears. Very nice wide jaw with true upsweep. Really good straight bone to tight feet. Well set short tail. Slightly longer in body.

2. Hale & Phillips – Hillplace Trevor at Arturobull

Brindle. Masculine dog. Good ears. Nice head. Well set eyes. Super wide jaw and upsweep. Well padded face. Good rib with nice tuckup. Moved and handled well.

CLASS 9 – SPECIAL BEGINERS DOG (2,1)

1. Takacova – Grey Thor

First time in the show ring for both dog and handler I believe so both were a bit nervous. 2 year old standard size red dog. Clear eyes. Split nose roll. A bit straighter on topline to a screwtail. I would like to see this dog after he has had some ringcraft.

CLASS 10 – MINOR PUPPY BITCH (2,0)

1. Rodgers – Belushi Moonlight Lover

I do like a good brindle and this wee beauty did not disappoint. 7 months. Brindle & White. Very feminine. Dark round eyes. Black nose with open nostrils. Good layback. Good front with very nice let down brisket and tuck up. Nice topline. Free moving tail. Moved well for one so young. BPB.

2. Ross – Grandtree Bootylicious

R&W. Standard size. Rose ears. Dark clear eyes. Pleasing front to neat feet. Good topline to a screwtail. Very nice body shape. Preferred movement of 1. This class could go either way on another day.

CLASS 11 – PUPPY BITCH (1, 0)

1. Green – Ragmarte Three Wishes

11 month old. W&R. Rose ears. Would have preferred finer wrinkle to head. Short cobby body with a lovely topline.

CLASS 12 – JUNIOR BITCH (3)

1. Robinson – Avaword Winifred at Sonpow (naf)

R&W. Dark clear eyes with good head piece. Square on front. Good length and reach of neck. Pear shaped body. Good rear but would have liked more tail but nonetheless it appeared healthy. Moved okay.

2. Green – Ragmarte Three Wishes

CLASS 13 – MAIDEN BITCH (7,3)

1. Foster – Shottle Angelina Balerina

R&W. Fine wrinkle to head. Good nose placement with wide open nostrils. Good brisket and forechest. Short cobby body. Moved okay.

2. Gore – Webbulls Shes Rosy

R&W. Excellent head. Good jaw with upsweep. A bit longer in body than first and would have like more of a roach to topline. Sound tail. Moved okay.

CLASS 14 – GRADUATE BITCH (5,1)

1. Hale & Phillips – Andlare Just Mabel at Arturobull

Red. Feminine looking bitch. Pleasing head. Excellent jaw. Neat rose ears. Wide open nostrils. Short cobby body with a good topline. Square on front. Moved well.

2. Stutter – Linmist Reet Petite

W&R. Super headpiece. Clear dark eyes. Lovely wide jaw. Nicely placed tacked on shoulder but longer in the body for my taste. Well set short tail. Good rear angulation. Moved well.

CLASS 15 – MID LIMIT BITCH (5,2)

1. Davies – Baalzebul Venus

Feminine standard size. R&W. Lovely head qualities. Great length and width of skull with fine wrinkle. Lovely positioned dark eyes. Good well positioned nose with wide nostrils. Good turn of underjaw. Square front which excelled in brisket and forechest. A bit longer in back but good topline. Well set tail. Nice strong hindquarters. Moved well and walked her width.

2. Phillips – Rokoluck Florence

W&R. Nice head with clear dark eyes. Wide jaw and excellent under jaw. Good barrel of rib. Very pleasing topline with good tail and set.

CLASS 16 - OPEN BITCH (9,7)

1. Stutter – Lynmans Party Like Patsy at Linmist

Daughter to the veteran winner. The apple did not fall far from the tree with this one. This is a bitch from the top drawer. Fantastic qualities and I am sure she will be one to watch. W&R Pied. Lovely head. Fantastic length of skull. Dark clear eyes. Well placed ears. Really nice jaw and upsweep. Liked her reach of neck. Correctly tacked on shoulders led to well boned forelegs and neat feet. Her topline was complimented by a nice tuck up. Free moving pump handle tail which was well set. Very pleasing rear with lovely angulation. Moved with ease although I preferred movement of BIS but that said she really pushed for top honours today. BB. BOS.

2. Gore – Webbulls Shes Rosy

CLASS 17 - SPECIAL BEGINERS BITCH (3)

1. Gore – Webbulls Shes Rosy

2. Green – Ragmarte Three Wishes

CLASS 18 - SPECIAL ELIMINATION DOG/BITCH (13, 8)

I can honestly say this class confused the living beejeesus out of me initially but once it was explained to me by my excellent stewards, I got it.

1. Stutter – Linmist Reet Petite (2nd in GB)

2. Phillips – Rokoluck Florence (2nd in MLB)
