Golden Retrievers

Thank you to the committee for the opportunity to judge this well-run show. Good venue and ring size. Big thanks to my two excellent stewards, Dawn & Jenny for all their help on the day. I had a lovely quality entry, a special mention to the depth of quality in the males today. Unfortunately, the background noise seemed to unsettle a few of the youngsters & this was reflected in the placings. I found no issues with bites today. PD (6,3) : 1.Archer’s, Haydengold Just A Rumour At Sunandair JW . Liked this young boy a lot, litter brother to my bitch puppy winner. Super balanced outline, happy boy with a cheeky expression, dark pigment & eye, well off for bone, straight front legs with well-presented tight feet, good length of neck, correct shoulder layback & elbows well under the body, strong topline, impressive quarters with the correct amount of second thigh, super tail set. Moved well for his age, nicely presented mid gold coat. 2. Moore’s, Purbarn Friends Together. Another happy boy, attractive head with a dark eye, smaller frame than 1, ample bone, tight feet, preferred the neck & front of the winner, short coupled, good rear angulation, moved well. Mid gold coat.3. Foreman’s, Ambersun I’ll Fly For You. PB (7,2) : 5 quality puppies with maturity being a factor in my placings. 1. List’s, Haydengold Gossip Girl JW. Animated 12-month-old who is maturing very nicely, should have a bright future. Not in the best of pale coats today but displayed a stunning clean balanced outline, attractive feminine head with dark pigment & eye, straight front legs & good feet, strong clean neck, excels in front angulation with a good amount of chest. Her front is nicely balanced with her rear quarters with correct amount of second thigh & straight rear pasterns. Good tail set & carriage. Moved very well with plenty drive & length of stride, although she can lower her head which can temporarily spoil her outline. Very well handled. BP & BB. 2. Ewart’s, Parlickview Blaze Of Glory Over Beaupippin. Very balanced 9-month-old with no exaggerations, beautiful sweet head, as with the winner scores highly in neck & front angulation, straight front legs with super cat like feet, short coupled, good second thigh. Well-presented gold coat. Moved well but not the ring presence or the outline of the winner on the move. 3.Phipps-Baker & Baker’s, Maddouse Hippi Hippi Shayk. JD (4,1) : 1. Taylor & Tenn’s, Strettonhill’s Ultimatum. Confident boy shown in a gorgeous golden coat, impressed with this honest youngster who will need time to fill his frame, soft but masculine head with a dark eye, well off for bone, straight front legs with super feet, well angulated throughout, elbows close fitting, correct tail set & carriage, moved well with a level topline. Final point for JW today, congratulations. 2. Kipps’s, Wheatcroft Rainbow. Liked this youngster but sadly not happy today. Beautiful boy with a clean outline, well-made throughout but movement a bit erratic. 3. Moore’s, Purbarn Friends Together. JB (8,1) : 1. List’s, Haydengold Gossip Girl JW . 2. Laylands’s, Applecote Love In Disguise. Attractive eye-catching outline, larger frame, another not in the best of coats, beautiful head with a dark eye, always fully focused on her handler, super clean neck, deep chest, straight legs with good feet, well angulated throughout, firm topline standing & on the move, correct tail set & carriage. Moved well but preferred the more consistent movement of the winner today. 3. Smith’s, Goldmarker Luminess (A1). G (10,3) : Real depth of quality in this class. 1.Garget & Morriss’s, Goldmarker Coming Home To Garvin (A1) JW. Immediately impressed with his balanced outline, very happy boy, shown in a gorgeous golden coat, super masculine head, clean muscular neck, good layback & elbows well under the body, straight legs with cat like feet, ample second thigh. Moved well with correct tail carriage, 2. Taylor & Tenn’s, Strettonhill’s Ultimatum. 3. McNeish’s, Drumklity Toodle Pip JW. PG (6,3) : 1. Laylands’s, Applecote Love In Disguise . 2. Hammond’s, Merimoor Adventuress. Nice type, attractive golden coat, pretty head & dark eye, straight front legs, nice feet, preferred the neck & front of the winner, correct rear angulation, good topline standing & on the move, would have liked a tad more enthusiasm on the move. 3. Staniland’s. Johannson Saint Beatrice. OD (4,1) : 1 Foreman’s, Ambersun Heart And Soul. Exuberant boy who was really on top form today demanding my attention, expertly shown to advantage on a loose lead, smaller frame, stood four-square with an ever-wagging tail. Attractive masculine head with a cheeky expression, dark eye and pigment, rich golden coat, strong muscular neck, well laid shoulders, good chest, elbows close fitting, short coupled, good bend of stifle, straight rear pasterns at all times, moved very well with drive & super enthusiasm, excellent topline standing & on the move. BOB. 2. Laylands’s, Applecote Hearts Desire. Quality dog. Unfortunate to meet the winner today, lots to admire, shown in a wonderful rich golden coat, soft but masculine head, dark eye and points, balanced profile, super cat like feet, good layback & return of upper arm, level topline, correct second thigh, moved with reach & drive. Well handled. RBOB. 3. Smith’s, Thornywait Iluminati At Goldmarker. OB (6,1) : 1. Nelson’s, Cadwst Eternal Flame . Comfortable winner of this class. Well-presented mid gold coat, attractive feminine head with a happy expression, dark eye, good length of neck leading to excellent front with the elbows well under the body, firm topline, correct rear angulation, moved very well & nicely handed. Quality bitch but wouldn’t want her to carry any more weight. 2. Phipps-Baker & Baker’s, Tenfield Alcor At Maddouse SGWC . Mature 5-year-old bitch. Another shown to advantage on a loose lead, happy girl with a cheeky expression, dark eye, mid gold coat, straight front legs, good feet but would prefer less trimming around the nails, nicely angulated throughout. Moved well. 3 Ewart’s, Beaupippin Dusty Lilac VW.
