Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers

I enjoyed this interesting entry. My thanks to my two efficient stewards. It is a number of years since I judged Tollers though I have watched them from a distance. I’m impressed how much they have progressed in recent years. Three things in particular have improved. All were happy to be examined, there were no small, incorrectly carried ears and hind movement was generally improved, with none of the very close hind movement I saw in earlier years. A couple of exhibits had missing lower incisor teeth – the tooth sockets seemed to be correctly aligned. A few stood very wide in front. Coats were a problem for a number particularly of bitches who were completely out of coat with no undercoat and lacked tail feathering.

PD (1)

1 Sewell’s Littleclose Father and Son to Breakerswell

9 months old. Still very much a puppy but nicely made. Lively mover.

YD (5/1 abs)

1. Lam & Leung’s Tollisty Out to Get You

Attractive junior. Won on head and expression and movement.

2. Strevens’ Tollisty You Can’t Decline

I see litter brother of the winner. Preferred winner’s head. Slightly longer in body.

3. Elkin’s Tollekin Dream Harbour JW

PGD (4)

1. Sewell’s Clegane Inferno to Breakerswell

Overall good outline. Well balanced. Pleasing head. Moved well.

2. C. Jingle All The Way

Less substance than winner and a finer head.

3. Burgess’ Camusmor King Rob

OD (4, 1)

1. Elkin’s Tollekin Caife Americano SGWC

Stood out today for overall conformation and condition. Powerfully made dog. Pleasing head. Strong, well- muscled hind quarters. Moved well with good drive. Excellent coat. Best Dog and BOB.

2. Adshead’s Afonbach Winter Is Coming

Not quite the overall sparkle of the winner. A little shorter in body than winner but not so well balanced between front and hind-quarters.

3. Barker’s Sh Ch Eusanit Silvr Dream Machine

PB (1)

1. Trickett’s Cfyre’s High Tea at Tollpepper (Imp Can)

Promising youngster. Good outline. Pleasing head and expression. Tight feet. Moved fairly well. Best puppy.

YB (3)

1. Smith’s Tollisty Couldn’t Careless

Good outline. Won a tight decision on her coat and movement.

2. Lashly’s Tollisty Blow Your Mind At Citanabel

Another typical bitch, alert bitch. Rather lacking in coat today.

3. Elkin’s Tollekin Dream Dancer JW

GB (2)

1. T. Couln’t Careless

2. T. Blow Your Mind at C.

PG (2)

1. Trickett’s Cfyre’s Spellbreaker at Tollpepper (Imp Can)

Typical in outline. In much better coat than second and I preferred her size. Moved soundly. Would prefer a slightly darker eye to tone in better with her coat colour.

2. Burgess’ Melnitta Sinamay JW

Larger than winner. Would prefer a better lay of shoulder.

O (3)

1. Hunt’s Wakaduze Wapa

Preferred her outline. Balanced angulation. Well -muscled hindquarters with appropriate turn of stifle and hind movement. In better coat than winner. Best Bitch

2. Strevens’ Sh Ch Tollekin Caife Gaerlach at Tollisty

Larger bitch. Well-balanced outline. Perhaps more typical tail carriage than winner. But another not in the best of coat. Reserve Best Bitch.

3. Adshead’s Sh Ch Danehaven Vermilion
