BOURNEMOUTH CANINE ASSOCIATION – Open Show Held on: Friday 12th AUGUST 2022

Judge: Mr. Russell F. Jones (Quemerford)

This was the 1st Open Show to be held for Bournemouth Canine Association and I was pleased to be invited to Judge Pastoral Breeds and the Group. This show was held on the same ground at the Championship Show which started the following day, so has all the same facilities. It was a well-run show and I have to thank my stewards who were sterling throughout the day. Many thanks have to go to all the exhibitors for the entries and who took their placings with grace.

COLLIE (Smooth) J D/B (1,0), 1. Miss Abby Lusty, Blamorder The Hustler: A 15mth old b/m bitch that is of a very pleasing type with a nice out-line. She is very feminine with a well-balanced head with nice eyes and a good bite. Good length of neck, good shoulders and nice brisket with good body. Really nice tail set and good angles to rear. Overall, a very pleasing girl. She was handled well and moved out well around the ring.     PG D/B (1,0), 1. Miss K. Riva, Manordelfi Rock On: At nearly 2yrs of age this s/w dog is very pleasing and of a nice type with a nice out-line. He has a well-balanced head and his skull is of a good shape, good ear set, dark eyes, good muzzle and bite. Good length of neck, nice lay-back of shoulder with good angles, good chest and neat top-line, good tail-set and good angles to rear. Nice tight feet. He moved out with drive and I was pleased to award him BOB and later Grp.3. Well done.     O D/B (3,0), 1. Sweeney, Mrs. Jean & Sweeney, Mr. David, & Lusty, Miss Abby, Blamorder Do Quite Nicely: A 3yr old b/m bitch that is quite feminine and of a neat type, well-balanced with a nice out-line. Moved out ok I was pleased to award her. BOS.    2. Smith, Mr. & Mrs. N. & A., Uk. Port. Esp. Gib. Ch. Winter Is Coming to Tentola (Re. Imp.): A 5yr old b/m dog that is of a good size and is very pleasing when standing. He has a masculine head, good neck and front. Good body and back end, but was unfortunately let down on the move today.    3. Miss Abby Lusty, Can. Gr. Ch. Cardross Red Dirt Road to Blamorder (Imp Can.): A 7yr old s/w dog that is well up to size. He is very masculine with a pleasing out-line. He was just not settled on the move today.

GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG J D/B (1,0), 1. Mrs J. Morton-Hadley, Kingsfrome End Of an Era: A 15mth old bitch that is a dark coated long coat. The handler was not used to showing GSDs so was unable to show her off to her best. Especially on the stance, not easy for a novice, that said she is an honest bitch and was better on the move. Needs help from an experienced breed person. O D/B (1,0), 1. Miss A.M Jones, Kintaro Hot Off the Press, Sh.CM: A bitch that according to the catalogue is 9yrs old, and yes and I doubled checked as she certainly doesn’t look it. She is of a pleasing type with a good out-line and good colouring. Moved out well so I was pleased to award her BOB.

PYRENEAN MOUNTAIN DOG O D/B (4,3), 1. Mrs Delia Shepherd, Vis’skall’s Hazuki Del Avantgarde, (Swed Imp), (AI): A 3.6yr old dog that stood alone in this class. He is of a pleasing type with a nice out-line. He was just a bit lazy, so needs firmer handling and encouragement to move. That said I was pleased to award him BOB.

SAMOYED J D/B (5,0), 1. Mr. D. Young, (Handling for Dayus, Mrs. Carly), Cocosamel Vibrante: A very nice 13mth old bitch. She has a lovely out-line and is of a nice type. She has a feminine head, good dark eyes, good muzzle and bite. A good neck, layback of shoulder, good front and angles with a nice depth of brisket. Liked her good angles to rear and neat hocks. She was shown in good coat for her age and was nicely presented. Also, nice and settled on the move covering the ground with ease. Pleased to award her BOB.     2. Prout, Miss Charlene & Prout, Mrs. Karen, Frosti Fluff at Furzeland: A 7mth old bitch that was the youngest in this class. She is of a very nice type with a nice out-line and has a lot going for her. She was very steady on the move so I was pleased to award her BP.    3. Marino Parlanti, Miss N. (Handling for Marino Parlanti, Miss Nikkia Taima & Hirschmann, Mr. Steven), Flowy Wolf in Sheep’s Skin, (Imp. Pol.) (Az2): Another nice bitch that is 11mths old. Just needs time to settle down, then should do well.    4. Mr Donald, W.N & Young, Mrs. Melanie A., Cocosamel Camelia: Bitch. 5. Mr Richard Fielding, Silvertips Starry Knight, (AI): Dog.    PG D/B (3,0), 1. Prout, Miss Charlene & Prout, Mrs. Karen, Jackson Maltayed at Furzeland, (Imp. Pl), (NAF): 9.5mth old dog of good type and out-line that won this class with ease. He is well put together for his age and his coat is coming along nicely. Moved well around the ring and I was pleased to award him BOS.    2. Mr. D. Young, (Handling Norris, Miss C.), Cocosamel Noir: A dog that is just over 12mths of age. He is of a nice type with a nice out-line, was very nice to go over. Just let himself down on movement today.    3. Mr Donald, W.N & Young, Mrs. Melanie A., Cocosamel Camelia: Bitch that is very feminine that is also just over 12mths of age. Just lacking in coat at present and still needed to settle on the move.    O D/B (1,0), 1. Mr Donald, W.N & Young, Mrs. Melanie A., Cocosamel Misia: A 5yr old bitch that is of a very pleasing type. She has a nice out-line and just lacks coat at present, I would like to see her in full coat to finish the picture. She moves well around the ring.

AV IMPORTED REGISTER BREEDS (PASTORAL) O D/B (1.0), 1. Mrs. Donna Elaine, Ridgewell, Brigam Snow Blanket: A White Swiss Shepherd Dog, A 15mth old dog that stood alone in this class. He is of a pleasing type and has a nice out-line. He still needs some work to get the best out of him as he is very untidy on the move. BOB.

AV PASTORAL NOT SEPARATELY CLASSIFIED J D/B (2,1), 1. Mrs. Ann & Mr. Peter Hillier, Mybeards Zip (AI): A Polish Lowland Sheepdog. A 13mth old dog with plenty of coat for his age. He is of a nice type and has a nice out-line, moves well. He has a nice head, dark eyes, good muzzle and bite. Nice length of neck, nice body and deep brisket. Strong back and good angles to rear. Handler just needs to slow down a little on the move, but he is only young and has time on his side.    O D/B (3,1), 1. Ms. Tanya Ann Pilgrim, UK Ch. Domburg By Appointment at Woodbriar: A Belgian Shepherd Dog (Tervueren). A 5yr old dog presented in tip-top condition, he was an easy winner. He has a good head and skull, correct ear carriage, dark eyes, well defined muzzle and bite. Good length of neck and strong excellent lay of shoulder, deep brisket and plenty of bone. Strong back, neat tuck up, good tail set and good strength to back end and good angles to rear. He is of excellent type and has a good out-line, he dominated the ring moving superbly around and up and down the ring. Pleased to award him Best AVNSC and later Grp. 1. Many congratulations.    2. Mrs. A.E. Monks, Bergeau Forever Starlight: A Belgian Shepherd Dog (Tervueren). A 3yr old dog. He is of a pleasing type and out-line and is an honest type. Moves ok. Just lacks presentation skills.

AV PASTORAL P D/B (7,4), 1. Dr. M. Shahmatova, Nashdom All Eyes on You: A Border Collie, aged 7mths old b/w dog that is a very nice type and out-line. Makes a lovely picture and was well handled to get the best out of him. Moved really well around the ring.     2. Mrs. Sylvia Joy Purchase, Puncknowle Queen Ivy: A 10mth old Shetland Sheepdog pretty tri coloured bitch of good type with a nice out-line. Just pipped by the 1st on the day. Moved very well.    3. Marino Parlanti, Miss N. (Handling for Marino Parlanti, Miss Nikkia Taima & Hirschmann, Mr. Steven), Flowy Wolf in Sheep’s Skin, (Imp. Pol.) (Az2): Samoyed bitch, as before.     J D/B (7,2), 1. Miss Ann-Marie Taylor, Darian End Game: Border Collie, a b/w dog aged 16mths that out-moved the others in this class today. He is of a pleasing type with a typical out-line and was enjoying himself today.    2. Mr Donald, W.N & Young, Mrs. Melanie A., Cocosamel Camelia: Samoyed bitch, as before.    3. Mrs. Diane M. Morgan, Germal Moet Ice Imperial at Darkquest: Border Collie b/w dog that is just over 1yr of age. He is of a pleasing type, unfortunately he lets himself down on the move. Such a shame. 4. Mrs. Donna Elaine, Ridgewell, Brigam Snow Blanket: A White Swiss Shepherd dog, as before.    PG D/B (3,1), 1. Mr Donald, W.N & Young, Mrs. Melanie A., Cocosamel Camelia: Samoyed bitch, as before.     2. Mrs. C. Pigott, (Handling for Mrs. C.E. Piggott and Mr. R.F. Pigott), Gilcoru Amour D’brie: A black Briard bitch that is just over 2yrs of age. She is not a bad bitch, unfortunately was let down by her handler today, which was a great shame.

AV Veteran (Pastoral) 7-9 years D/B (5,2), 1. Mr Donald, W.N & Young, Mrs. Melanie A., Furzeland Devon Blaze Avec Cocosamel: Samoyed, a 7yr old dog of a good type and out-line with plenty of coat. He is very neat for his age and moves out well covering the ground with ease. He has a pleasing head, good skull and eye. Nice neck and neat front and rear and good legs.    2. Mrs. Jennifer Webb, Megarmaree Just Amazing, JW, Sh. Cex: A 7yr old Bearded Collie dog that is of a pleasing type and outline. He has a lovely temperament and was shown in good coat. Unfortunately, he didn’t move out as well as 1st on the day.    3. Farmer, Mrs. Madeleine Patricia, Taranza Moondancer at Bhavya: A b/w Border Collie bitch that is 8yrs of age. She is of a pleasing type and out-line and was nice to go over, but unfortunately did not want to move today. It was a hot day so I cannot blame her. Hope she got a nice ice-cream.

AV Veteran (Pastoral) 9+ years D/B (2,0), 1. Miss A.M Jones, Kintaro Hot Off the Press, Sh.CM: A GSD bitch, as before. Best Veteran.     2. Shahmatova, Dr. M., Nashdom Unpredictable: An 11yr old b/w Border Collie dog that was enjoying his day out with his friends. He was not quite in condition on the day, that said thank-you for the entry.

PASTORAL GROUP: 1. Ms. Tanya Ann Pilgrim, UK. Ch. Domburg By Appointment at Woodbriar: Belg. Shep. Dog (Tervueren). Dog as before. Grp 1.    2. Mr. Jake Walsh, Grand Ch. Elite’s Spin to Win, RAF, TAF, (Imp. USA): Australian Shepherd Dog. A 5yr old tri coloured bitch of super type and out-line. She was handled to perfection by this young handler and was an absolute dream on the move. Well-deserved her placing.    3. Miss K. Riva, Manordelfi Rock On: Collie (Smooth). Dog, as before.     4. Mrs. Stefani Flower, Serenias Pumpkin Spice: Collie (Rough), A very nice s/w 9mth old bitch that is very feminine and handled well. Shown in good coat for her age. She deserved her group placing and went on to get P.Grp.2. Well done.

PASTORAL PUPPY GROUP: 1. Miss Julie Rivers, Orora’s French Silk at Merrimak: An 8mth old g/w Bearded Collie bitch, that is a very nice type and has a good out-line. She moved out superbly around the ring dominating the space. Super to see, well done. P.Grp.1.    2. Mrs. Stefani Flower, Serenias Pumpkin Spice: Collie (Rough) s/w, as before. P.Grp.2.     3. Mr. Jake Walsh, Birkcross You Blu Me Away: An 10mth old b/m Australian Shepherd Dog that was well handled and of good type with a good out-line. Deserved his place in this group. P.Grp.3.     4. Mrs. C.V. Marett, Twinan Lets Be A Clown at Gayteckels, (TAF): A lovely Welsh Corgi (Cardigan) bitch just 6mth’s of age, b/w enjoying her 1st show and doing well, a lovely little mover. P.Grp.4.
