Puppy (4,2)
1st Forbes’ Canemamans Primo Al Fine - 10 month old who is a large lad already. Long, angular head with equal length in skull and muzzle, which is deep and slightly arched. An almost square outline and gives the image of a strong hunter, even in one so young. Strong, long, well laid-back shoulders with return of upper arm. Oval bone standing on tight, well arched feet. On the move he was together and fluid, showing reach & drive in an extended, fast trot. Best of Breed and Best Puppy.
2nd Bubois’ Withamfriary Veni Vidi Vici – 7 month bitch who wasn’t showing her best today. She is smaller in structure but so well balanced. Almost square in appearance with well laid back shoulders and good bend of stifle. Head retains femininity while muzzle and skull are divergent with soft expression from her dark eye and correct ear set. True moving with reach and drive.
Junior (3,2)
1st Sladden’s Valcor The Confessor at Canemamans - 13 month strong boy. Well laid back shoulders, with tops of shoulder blades well separated. Good width of thigh with turn of stifle. Standing on tight, well arched feet. Planes of the muzzle and skull are divergent with arched, deep muzzle. True movement in rear and powerful in profile. Just not as true in front as the puppy to settle for Reserve Best of Breed.

Open (2,1)
1st Sladden’s Tyrbechgyn Believe You Will at Canemamans JW – 4 year old fully mature male who was a little shorter in muzzle. Oval eye with ears set level. Lovely front with well laid back shoulders, blades set well apart. His chest is broad and deep with well sprung ribs. Moved well in profile.
Gordon Setter
Puppy (1,0)
1st Walker’s Lignum Teller – 11 month lad who has hopefully completed his height growth and now needs the rest of his body to catch up and body up. Good depth of chest, and well made. Dark brown, round eye and ears set low, lying close to head. Muzzle slightly longer than skull. Was messy on the move, but showed potential. Just needs to mature.
Junior (3,1)
1st Ashley-Turner’s Hernwood The Botanist – Stylish dog with symmetrical confirmation and has the appearance of a “weight-carrying hunter” who holds and presents himself well. Well laid back shoulders and well bent stifles. Level topline with continuous line to the tail set. Deep chest with ribs well sprung and muscular, wide loins. Strong head, would like a bit more breadth, but he has time. On the move he was free and true from all angles, showing plenty of drive. Best of Breed
2nd Sandiford & Lewis’ Hernwood Gin Fizz JW – Sister to my winner and similar comments apply. She just sits in a smaller, more feminine frame. Her brother just won on showmanship but she is made correctly and in profile on the move was perfect head to tail. Reserve Best of Breed
Post Graduate (4,1)
1st Ashley-Turner’s Hernwood The Botanist – 1st Junior
2nd Upton-Lovett & Upton Roydack Peaky Blinder – Strong boy coming into his maturity. Dark eye showing keen, intelligent expression. His head is still to mature but he has the foundations. Strong bone, oval, close knit feet, strong, level topline and wide loin. Well angulated front and rear.

1st Sandiford & Mazzeo’s Hernwood Christmas Prince – 3 year old of good height and bone and straight forelegs. Muzzle slightly longer than the length of the skull. Well laid back shoulders and tight elbows. Strong, level topline with tail set on and carried level with the back. Moved OK.
Retriever (Flat Coated)
Junior (1,0)1st McQuade’s Gemswin River of Dreams – Lovely, captivating girl who really comes to life on the move to show her potential. In profile she shows reach & drive, with head and tail carriage to finish the picture. Beautiful head, long and moulded with broad, flat skull and slight stop. OK for bone and just needs to develop a little more in the chest, but this will come with age. Well angulated fore & aft and holding a level topline. She stands on round, strong feet. She may have been standing alone, but pleased to award her a well deserved Best of Breed.
Spaniel (English Springer)
Junior (1,0)
1st Weyman’s Spuffing Prosecco – Young and still very immature at just 12 months, but still lots to like. Feminine head with good breadth and balanced to body. Medium sized, almond eye and ears set in line with eye. Short, strong loin with tail set off a sloping croup. Well muscled with good angulation fore & aft. Tight compact feet and moved well and carried her posture like she owned the ring.

Good amount of bone and standing on tight, compact feet. Firm level topline and short, strong loin. Lovely width of thigh and well angulated through. Moved true with reach and drive. Just didn’t have the overall presence on the day.
