Dukeries [Notts] Gundog Club

Dukeries (Notts) Gundog Club Open Show, Tuesday 12 July 2022

Large Munsterlanders

I would like to thank the Committee of The Dukeries (Notts) Gundog Club for inviting me to Judge the Large Munsterlander classes, sponsored by the Large Munsterlander Club, at their Open Show on 12 July 2022. After a two year wait enforced by COVID it was a pleasure to at last be able fulfil the appointment. I would also like to thank my Stewards for running a “tight ship” and their invaluable assistance to me in the ring. Finally, I would like to thank the exhibitors for their trust and faith in entering under me and for sportingly accepting my decisions with good grace.

Class 113 - Puppy Dog or Bitch (2,0)

1st Crumpsbrook Geum At Toberworry (Mr P, Mrs S and Miss H Foreman) (D)

Masculine head with a strong neck leading into well laid back shoulders. Well sprung ribs with a good depth chest under a full coat. Stood firm and square in profile with correct turn of stifle. Well set-on tail and a good straight topline on the move: well balanced and covered the ground with purpose. Developing well. Best Puppy.

2nd Raycris Flaming Tully (Mrs H Scotford) (B)

Bouncy and frisky: enjoying herself like a young puppy should. Nice rounded head, well set-on ears into a strong neck and good topline. Well sprung ribs with good angulation front and rear. Understandably a little excited on the move, but I really liked her and she shows much promise for the future once she settles and gains a little more experience in the ring.

Class 114 - Junior Dog or Bitch (3,2)

1st Crumpsbrook Geum At Toberworry (Mr P, Mrs S and Miss H Foreman) (D)

Repeat.

Class 115 - Post Graduate Dog or Bitch (2,1)

1st Toberworry Harvest Moon (Mr P, Mrs S and Miss H Foreman) (D)

Masculine head and face with pleasing expression. Strong neck and firm topline. Deep chest with good spring of rib. Well muscled and nicely balanced profile with correct angulation front and rear. Tail well set on. Liked the way he moved out with a focused drive, covering the ground with ease: looked like he could do a day’s work. Pushed hard for BoB today. Reserve Best of Breed.

Class 116 - Open Dog or Bitch (3,1)

1st Quilesta Simply Exquisite (Miss V Wilkins) (B)

Pleasing feminine face with expressive eyes. Well rounded broad head with well set on ears. Strong, firm neck and good straight topline. Good depth of chest with well sprung ribs. Well muscled hind quarters with correct turn of stifle. Moved very well with an easy stride and foot fall covering the ground with purpose. Lovely balanced and correct profile when free standing, which tipped the result in her favour today. Best of Breed.

2nd Cazooska Pixie At Settskaye (Dr R Suchett-Kaye) (B)

Feminine head with pleasing expression and well set on ears. Strong neck and deep chest with good spring of rib, straight topline into well set on tail. Sound balanced profile with good angulation front and rear. Moved well with drive and purpose, just didn’t free stand quite as well as 1 this evening.
