Bakewell Agricultural & Horticultural Society

16th July 2022

Judge: Paulina O’Gorman – Berrymeade

Many thanks to the Committee of Bakewell Agricultural & Horticultural Society for inviting me to judge at their show. What beautiful showground with big rings and plenty of space for exhibitors to put their crates up. It is just a pity that the high temperature of the day, understandably, resulted in a large number of absentees. Thank you to all the Exhibitors for entering their dogs and for giving me the chance to go over them.

PUPPY (10, 5a)

A super class of puppies!

1. Price’s PUTJADE PUMPKIN SPICE One I’ve admired from the ringside since I first saw her. So balanced and feminine. She has a gorgeous, well-proportioned head, good length of neck and good layback of shoulders. Good forechest, correct length of leg and short coupling, matching front and rear angulation, well set on tail, excellent coat. Stands firmly foresquare on straight legs with good bone. When she moves, she owns the ring, so effortless and true coming and going! I will be watching this young lady with interest. BP

2. Taylor’s & Tenn’s STRETTONHILL WITH PASSION Another lovely youngster and just 10.5 months old. Beautiful outline of this well-balanced bitch. Femine head with lovely pigment and good length of muzzle. Excellent reach of neck, good forechest, straight front and correct length of leg. Firm topline and short coupling. Good fore and aft angulation, tail set on well. Beautiful pale coat. She moved out well.

3. Laylands’ APPLECOTE LOVE IN DISGUISE

JUNIOR (7, 3a)

1. Walker’s & Roberts’ GLOI YOU MAKE LOVING FUN Such a pretty head with the most beautiful expression on this nearly 12 months old bitch. Good length of neck, good forechest and bone. Firm topline that she kept on the move. Moderately angulated, short coupled, presented in lovely coat. Moved out very well keeping her tail level.

2. James’ TSARMONT STARLET This bitch has a clean outline and she is very feminine with such pretty head. Good length of neck flowing into well laid back shoulders. Excelling in length of leg she covers the ground with ease.

3. Munro’s ALIBREN READY TEDDY

POST GRADUATE (7, 3a)

1. James’ TSARMONT STARLET

2. Munro’s ALIBREN READY TEDDY Lovely masculine head with soft expression, so eye-pleasing, This boy has a super length of leg and is of good size. He has good bone and straight legs, short, neat hocks. I would have just preferred slightly tighter fitting elbows. Good angulation fore and aft, moved out well.

3. Smith’s GOLDTINKRED MOON RIVER AT ROCAMOKA

OPEN DOG (5, 1a)

This was another class full of quality.

1. Loach’s & Zubair’s PUTJADE PUSH THE BUTTON A balanced throughout young boy presented in a beautiful coat. Masculine head with melting expression, lovely front assembly, good front and rear angulation. He stood on straight legs with good length and cat like feet. Short coupled with level topline that he maintained while moving. He excelled in movement, so true and effortless. Such an eye catching young man and without hesitation I was pleased to award him BOB.

2. Riley’s WYLLOH LOST IN TRANSLATION JW Another lovely boy with beautiful head, masculine but soft. He certainly has a lot of fun in the ring, which is lovely to see. Strong, well-made dog with good bone, cat like feet and matching front and aft angulation. Short coupled, super bend of stifle and near hocks. Suer mover as one, but was lacking in coat today. RBOB

3. Leyland’s APPLECOTE HEARTS DESIRE

OPEN BITCH (10, 3a)

1. McCulloch’s PRINCESS CORA OF ZARKANDAR A lovely 3 year old bitch in pale gold coat. I liked her overall balance and pretty, feminine head. She was standing on straight legs with good feet. Matching front and rear angulation, short coupling. Very well constructed bitch presenting a lovely outline. She moved out well in her class and I was considering her for top honours, however she seemed to have lost the enthusiasm on the move in the final challenge.

2. Smith’s ROCAMOKA HARBOUR LIGHTS This 8 year old girl was presented in super coat. Lovely head and expression, well laid back shoulders, excellent length of leg. She moved out well and what a pleasure to see a veteran in such a great shape.

3. Walker’s and Roberts’ GLOI UNCHAINED MELODY JW
