Newmarket & District Canine Society

Many thanks to the Committee of Newmarket & District Canine Society for the kind invitation to judge at this well-ran show and to all Exhibitors who entered their dogs. Although postponed for 2 years in a row, it was certainly worth the wait and I felt that both, the Committee and Exhibitors, were all having a wonderful day, just what showing should be about. I would also like to thank my lovely and very experienced Steward who kept me in line and assisted with running the ring smoothly.

GOLDEN RETRIEVER

I was extremely pleased with the quality on the day super, and in some classes, I had to make some very difficult choices. Most dogs were in great condition and moving in a good size ring was not challenging. It is good to see so many balanced dogs with no obvious exaggeration, as well as all shades of gold. I would like to say thank you to all the Exhibitors who showed their dogs under me, some of you travelled a far distance and that is all much appreciated.

PUPPY (5, 1a)

This was a very nice class of very promising youngsters! Some more bouncy than the others, but all equally possessing happy, outgoing personalities.

1. Tarsey’s MITCHNEL YOU PIERCE MY SOUL So very balanced for one so young. Such a pretty head and intelligent expression of this cream girl. Lovely neck flowing into a straight topline, well laid back shoulders, short coupled, good fore and aft angulation, straight front and tight feet, short rear pasterns. She moved so well and with ease and was a pleasure to watch, so well put together and totally at one with her handler. BP

2. List’s HAYDENGOLD GOSSIP GIRL Another cream young lady and just over six months of age. Not yet as together as one, which is to be expected at this young age, but without a doubt she is so full of quality! There is a lot to like about her, including her feminine head, straight legs with super bone, tight feet and just as 1st, she has an excellent length of leg. Another one with a dead level topline and excellent reach of neck. She wasn’t as settled on the move and I think she needs a bit more time fully show herself off, however there is no rush, and I am sure she will be a shining star in the future.

3. Brown’s SANSUE LOVE NOTE

JUNIOR (2, 0a)

1. Tyler’s MOLBRAM IMPOSSIBLE DREAM Just over 12 months old cream girl that walks into her stand perfectly, standing foursquare on straight legs. She has such a pretty, feminine head with dark pigment, good reach of neck, super forechest and matching front and rear angulation, good bone. Super topline and bend of stifle, well set on tail. On the move she shows good reach and drive, she’s very steady and in so much harmony with her handler.

2. Berry’s STELLAMARIS DRUMMER BOY This boy has an excellent length of leg and was shown in super condition. He has a masculine head with a correct earset, good pigment. He’s a good size dog and I think needs more time to fill up. He has short rear pasters and straight legs with good feet. Not as deep in body as one and I would prefer tighter fitting elbows. He moved well and I am sure with practice he will present himself even better

YEARLING (1, 0a)

1. Berry’s STELLMARIS DRUMMER BOY

POST GRADUATE (6, 1a)

Another lovely class lead by the two super girls. I think the boys were just unlucky to meet them today.

1. Warren’s COOMBSTOCK WINTER GREETING AT TARNBROOK A cream 2.5 year old lady in super coat. Lovely outline and so mature for her young age, but not exaggerated in any way. Beautiful neck line and well laid back shoulders, good length of leg and moderate angles. Well sprung ribs, short coupling and good bend of stifle. I really liked her on the move, which is not surprising as she’s so well made.

2. Seamons’ & Beeson’s MESSANO JUST DANCE Lovely bitch in a fantastic condition. Pretty head with good pigment and lovely length of neck. Textbook, firm topline. Great front and rear assembly, excellent length of leg and correct tail carriage on the move. She moved with reach and drive, and was very attentive to her handler. Younger than 1st, but just absolutely right for her age. These two could easy swap places at any time.

3. Maynards’ CHINNORDALE GRAND FINALE (AI)

OPEN DOG (3, 0a)

1. Smith’s THORNYWAIT ILUMINATI AT GOLDMARKER This lovely 3 year old boy stood out in this class for his overall balance and super condition. Masculine, but not overdone head, good reach of neck, good layback of shoulder and return of upper arm, short coupled. He stood firmly on straight legs and carried his tail level when moving. Good reach and drive on the move, however he was slightly unsettled on the day. A nicely constructed boy overall.

2. Webb’s FLETLANDERS BILLY FLYNN AT HECTSON I couldn’t believe this boy was 8.5, in such super shape and he seemed like he enjoyed his time in the ring. Presented in good, cream coat. Matching front and rear angulation, plenty of forechest, good length of leg, deep in body, well sprung ribs. Firm topline, which he kept while moving, and correct set on of tail. He moved effortlessly presenting good reach and drive.

3. Roper’s CATNNELS INSIDE STORY FOR BRENSHAM SGWC

OPEN BITCH (5, 1a)

I found both of my main (adult) winners in this class – excellent!

1. Seamons’ MESSANO KISS ME NOW The more I looked at this mid gold bitch in gleaming coat, the more I liked her, just simply lovely! For me, she has everything in the right place and possesses a classic shape. Pretty, feminine head with correct length of muzzle, lovely neck, good shoulder placement and straight with just enough forechest, good length of the upper arm. Excellent leg of length and so short coupling. She has just enough bend of stifle to complete a picture of total balance. She was handled so well and she moved like a dream, so effortlessly. I didn’t hesitate to give her BOB.

2. List’s HAYDENGOLD TIME TO REMEMBER Another super bitch in this class and without a doubt the two winners could easily swap places at any other time. She is so well constructed with her super length of neck, pretty head with just enough stop, super layback of shoulder and firm topline. Just as 1st, she excels in length of leg and is as moderately angled. She has some maturing to do and more coat to grow, but I can honestly say she was one of the best movers today. I was truly spoilt in this class and not surprisingly this lovely lady went onto get RBOB.

3. Smith’s GOLDMARKER LUMINARA
