British Utility Breeds Association

19/03/2022

I’d like to thank the society for inviting me to judge, my steward for keeping things running smoothly and most of all, all the exhibitors who entered their beautiful dogs under me today. I was excited by the quality, especially in the puppy and junior classes, a positive future for the breed. So many really lovely youngsters unfortunately went unplaced today I wished I had more cards.

Puppy (15/12)

1, Carodal Jacobs Ladder. Beautiful 9 month old liver spotted bitch, evenly decorated, elegant but with enough substance. Pretty head and lovely amber eye, her expression was sweet, ears held nicely to frame her face, correct scissor bite. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders and level topline flowing into a nice tailset and carriage both standing and on the move. Deep chest with good spring of rib already and tight elbows. Balanced moderate angles front and rear which gave her both reach and power to move efficiently around the ring. Straight front down to tight cat feet and presented in great coat and condition. Best Puppy, shortlisted for BIS

2, Ailsadot Astral Lyra. Eye catching 11 month old black spotted bitch with hand painted spots. Heavier frame than 1 but has many of the same qualities. Beautiful expression and lovely dark eye. Correct scissor bite. Nicely arched neck into good shoulders, level topline, correct tail set and carriage. An overall balanced puppy, was just a little looser on the move than 1 but still showed me enough to warrant her place. Presented in great coat and condition.

3, Rapanooey Sugar Donut.

Junior (18/14)

1, Dallydyl Honey Trap. Beautiful 12 month old liver spotted bitch, nicely decorated. Nothing overdone, feminine but has plenty of bone. Pretty head, with amber eye, ears well set and held, kind expression, correct scissor bite. Lovely arched neck of good length into well laid shoulders and level topline onto a nice tailset and carriage both standing and on the move. Lovely front angles, optimal length and return of upper arm, elbows held tight to chest, straight legs down to nice cat feet. Her width of thigh balances her front to give an overall perfect picture. Presented in lovely coat and condition. A spirited girl who made her experienced handler work hard today but her movement was undeniably true. One to watch.

2, Dvojica Excuse My French At Dalfin JW. Lovely 17 month old black spotted bitch, pretty head with a sweet expression, dark eye and correct scissor bite. Good length of neck which is nicely arched. Well laid shoulders and level topline. Moderate angles front and rear gave a balanced outline in profile. Good round bone but still remains elegant throughout. Could easily have swapped places with 1 but I think she’s better suited to a bigger ring where she can show off her powerful movement to its best. full of potential, definitely a bright future.

3, Dallydyl Code Breaker.

Yearling (11/8)

1, Dallydyl Honey Trap. 1st in Junior

2, Hafwenna We Will Rock You. Smart 17 month old black spotted male with plenty of substance. Nice head, with broad flat skull, dark eye, ears well set and held to frame his face. Correct scissor bite. Good length of neck into well defined wither, level topline into correct tailset both held well on the move. Moderate angles front and rear, nicely muscled throughout. Moved well but another who would benefit from more room to show off his reach and drive. Presented in good coat and condition.

3, Perditas Never Say Never.

Post Graduate (8/7)

1, Tyrodal Seven Of Nine At Dalstorm. Pretty showy 2 year old liver spotted bitch, beautiful head with amber eye and intelligent expression. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders, level topline and strong loin, tail set and held nicely. Plenty of heart and lung room in her well sprung ribs and deep chest. Balanced in outline, straight front legs into tight cat feet. Strides out well with reach and drive. Presented in great condition. Very attentive to her handler. RBOB

2, Dallydyl Merry Fortune. Lovely 3 year old liver spotted bitch, similar outline to 1 but on a smaller frame. Nice head with amber eye and gentle expression. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders, level topline held on the move, good tailset and carriage. Moderate angles front and rear, straight legs down to cat feet. Moved out well, just preferred the drive of 1. Nicely decorated and presented in great coat and condition. Handled well.

3, Buzzbrook Spellbreaker.

Open (9/9)

1, Sophtspot In The Zone. Outstanding 5 year old black spotted male, for me he ticks all the boxes, everything about him says quality. Handsome head, lovely dark eye and kind expression. He holds his ears well and he has a correct scissor bite. Plenty of substance, well muscled throughout, clearly showing he is male but not coarse in any way. Good length of neck into laid back shoulders and well defined withers. Ribs well sprung, deep chest, strong loin, level topline held on the move and his tail is set and held nicely. Elbows are tight to his chest, straight front legs, slight spring in pasterns down to tight cat feet. His ideally balanced front and rear are put to use as he shows off his smooth rhythmic movement which looked effortless. His coat is the icing on the cake, dark black well placed spots, on a clear white background. Presented in excellent coat and condition. Handled well. BOB

2, Dalstorm Golden Guinea JW. Handsome 3 year old black spotted male. Good head of correct proportions with lovely dark eye, nice ear placement and correct scissor bite. Good length of neck leading to level topline which he holds on the move. Deep chest and straight well boned front which is balanced by his rear with good turn of stifle. Moved out well but I preferred the reach of 1. Presented in good condition.

3, Divazzi’s Desire For Romance At Hafwenna.
