Bournemouth Canine Association

Thank you to the officers and committee of Bournemouth Canine Association for inviting me to judge Shih Tzu at your first Open Show. It was a really scorching hot day but I did not find any dogs that were struggling or any noisy breathers. I had a nice entry for a Friday and the quality was great.

Class 262 Graduate Dog or Bitch ( 4 Entries, 1 Absentee)

  1st DIFFEY, MRS M - Marhilway Explored the Edge

18 month old Gold & White bitch. Lovely type who has appealed to me before. She is a really pleasant surprise to get your hands on, so feminine all through but without compromising on substance, just how it should be. She’s a good size and low on leg. She makes a nice shape standing, large round head with dark, round eyes, large enough and well spaced. Excellent, defined stop giving tip tilted nose, with wide nostrils, good chin and overall excellent expression. Correct reverse scissor bite with excellent dentition. Good reach of neck to carry head proudly. Well laid shoulders. excellent width through the chest which is well let down, good fore chest. Straight front legs with good bone. Excellent spring of rib, extending well back, so sturdy, short strong loin. Good tailset, carried well enough over back. Good rear angulation which allows her to move nicely with good drive showing full pad. Good front extension and overall very correct, smooth flowing movement. Like her a lot, look forward to see how she matures. BEST OF BREED.

2nd SULLIVAN, MS J & DIFFEY, MRS M S L - Marhilway Driving Edge at Jacquinta

18 month old Gold & White dog, litter brother to 1st. Many similar qualities but he is all male. So solidly built.

Large masculine head, large dark eyes, good mouth with reverse scissor bite and good teeth. Well placed nose on a level with lower eye rim, well defined stop. Wide open nostrils. Excellent pigment. Good length and reach of neck enough to carry the head proudly. Well laid shoulders. Wide and deep chest with excellent bone. Good spring of rib which extended well back. High set and carried teapot tail. Good rear angulation which allows him to move with the correct drive showing full pad. Good overall size but he will drop into himself in time.

1st RAULT, MISS PORSCHA - Cavateena Autumn Whisper

2.5 years Gold & White Dog. Well balanced dog with excellent shape. Skull well rounded and ok for size. Round eye. Good pigment. Excellent bite & dentition. Wide open nostrils. Good reach and length of neck which allowed him to carry his head correctly on the move. Ok for width and depth of chest. Ribs nicely sprung. Excellent tail set and carriage. Slightly higher on leg. He was in excellent coat and condition. He was so sound and free on the move keeping his shape at all times and moving with drive showing full pad.

2nd SILSBURY, MRS J - Juhuas Expecto Patronum For Jadoremy

Just 3 years Solid Gold Dog. Larger and heavier overall than 1st. Wide rounded skull, dark round eyes. Wide nostrils. Excellent bite and dentition. I felt his shoulders could do with more layback, allowing for better angulation, neck and head carriage. He had a very wide chest. Well let down, well off for bone. Huge ribcage extending well back. Tail was well set on. Not carrying his shape on the move and was sluggish but completely understandable with the weather.

 1st SULLIVAN, MS J - Ch Jaquinta Let’s Go Andy JW

Just turned 6 years Gold & White Dog. Nice size boy with plenty substance and full coat. Large round head. Large dark round eyes. Excellent width between eyes. Good stop, wel placed nose and wide open nostrils, wide jaw. All contributing to the warm yet masculine expression. Good neck of sufficient length to carry head proudly. Good front angulation, good width of chest and all through. Well sprung ribcage reaching well back well angulated rear with moderate turn of stifle. High set on of tail and carried well. Moved with sufficient reach and drive for the weather conditions but really came to life in the BOB challenge where he put on his best performance showing his excellent movement, reach, drive and full pads.

2nd DIFFEY, MRS M - Marhilway Spirited Edge

Rising 3 year old Gold & White Bitch just the right size and balance. Such a typical expression. Large dark round eyes, definite, deep stop, excellent tip tilted nose with wide nostrils. Large skull. Good dentition with undershot jaw giving well pronounced chin. Sturdy body, well sprung ribs reaching well back. Good tail set on high and carried well. Good drive from behind showing full pad.
