Judge Mike Blay (Longbarrow)

I must thank the committee for the invite and their running of the show, the exhibitors for taking my decisions with grace, and my fellow judges for putting through a super selection of dogs to officiate over in the BIS ring.

BEST IN SHOW

A quality selection to go over, on any other day any of the 7 could have won. At the top of the Christmas tree I chose the Tibetan Spaniel.

Cooper’s – Ch Malia Pumpkin Pie by Susu JW. A fantastic 2 yr old bitch who didn’t put a foot wrong in the main ring, loved her head shape and alert eyes, super neck and shoulder placement, liked her proportions when stacked, being slightly longer in body than height at withers, found her in super silky coat, well muscled behind with a moderate turn of stifle, came alive on the move, jaunty but straight and true both going and coming towards. Couldn’t deny her BIS.

RESRVE BEST IN SHOW

Bott, Allen and Morgan – Quensha Crimes of Passion. An Irish Setter Bitch who I judged earlier in the day, sweetest of feminine heads, super neck and shoulders sloping well back, deep in chest and well sprung ribs, straight front legs, slight slope to topline shown without any exaggeration, well muscled loin and super hind quarters, muscular with well turned stifles yet not over stretched when stacked. Loved her free flowing movement showing great drive.

BEST PUPPY IN SHOW

Again another set of 7 who all deserved to be there, unfortunately I could only pick 2. I must mention my own breed, one tends to be harder on ones own breed, but the GSP Winterwell Iggy Inch merits a mention being a super example of the breed and I think will have a good future ahead of him in the show ring, just unlucky to come across 2 outstanding puppies ahead of him at the top of their game already.

Craig’s – Annavah Belinda of Davricard. Wow, apparently the first show for this Beagle bitch, absolutely beautiful and took my eye the moment she entered the ring, loved her head shape, kind eye and without coarseness, strong neck and well laid shoulders, good rib and level topline, strong loin leading to super hind quarters, well muscled (even at this age) and correct turn of stifle, on the move she didn’t put a foot wrong, free striding, taking everything in her stride with maturity defying her 6 months, thoroughly deserved to go BPIS.

RESERVE BEST PUPPY IN SHOW

Ryan’s – Cavallibrook George Ezra. Cavalier Kings Charles Spaniel a smart pup already at the top of his game, lovely balanced outline when stood, best of heads with a kind gentle expression, slightly arched in neck set on well laid back shoulders, good front, and super body shape, tight compact feet and under his profusion of coat well turn stifles. Loved his free flowing movement and on another day would have stood top of the class.

BEST VETERAN IN SHOW

Bawden & Brown’s – Ch Khanate Gin Fizz ShCM. Schnauzer. Lovely well turned out 10 yr old, who didn’t put a foot wrong. Nothing over exaggerated about this boy, super head shape, moderate length to neck and set on well laid shoulders, good front and well sprung ribs, short strong loin and well muscled rear, found him in super harsh coat, loved his angles behind, so balanced on the move, showing a power from behind that defied his 10yrs.

RESERVE BEST VETERAN IN SHOW

Burrage’s – Ch Komidion Night Music at Sametova ShCM ShCEx VW. Cesky terrier. Male who’s I’ve done well for in the past, if anything his movement gets better with age, full of drive and propulsion, best of head shapes, slightly long and blunt wedge in shape, good neck and correct shoulders, good rib and correct body shape with rise over his well muscled loin, found him in good coat and pleased to award him RBVIS
