1. Gaskin’s Dovestream Jamaica Me Bad (Smooth Haired Dachshund) – very stylish 7-month red male of great shape and outline. Super balance and nothing exaggerated. Correct lay back in the shoulder, good ribbing and loin of correct length. Strong well angulated hindquarters which were used with purpose showing good drive from behind. Neat and tight in elbow. Strong prosternum for one of such a tender age shows immense promise. Just wish he had tighter feet. Best AVNSC Hound Puppy and Hound Puppy Group 1.
2. Hills Rangali Gretel at Shimmeree (Basset Fauve de Bretagne) – super cute 6-month pup full of character and style. Lovely balanced head correct eye and good strong jaw. Good strong chest and prominent prosternum, lovely ribbing carried well back with nick strong loin. Well angulated hindquarters used to good advantage when she concentrated on performing. Good straight front moved correct fore and aft. One who will have a very bright future for sure.

1. Gaskins Dovestream Who Killkenny (S/H Dachshund) – Super B/T dog of 13 months. Top drawer conformation. Good conical head and dark eye. Strong jaw and lovely neckline into well placed shoulders. Correct oval front, feet could be tighter. Lovely sweep of keel giving correct underline. Super strong topline, great ribbing and short strong loin. Textbook hindquarter construction giving a super powerful drive from behind. On the move also showed a good extension in front. As a dachshund specialist I can be very hard on my own breed, but this dog was of great quality. Moved as one with his handler. Close decision in the group but pleased to award Best AVNSC Hound & Hound Group 2
2. Osbourne’s Derochaise Vincenzo Di Braego (W/H Dachshund) 3-year-old dog I have judged before as a youngster when he was learning his craft. Today was showing well as one with his experienced handler and performed well. Great head and expression strong prosternum good shoulder angulation. Great drive from behind. Just lost out to winner on overall balance on the move and slightly better ground clearance of 1st. Still a great hound.

1. Spring-Arnolds Hyndsight Only In My Dreams – lovely 17-month bitch of super proportions. Very good head of correct length, dark eye and soft expression. Great depth of chest, nicely arched over the loin. I really liked her flowing hound lines throughout when she got her act together moved with a lovely gait - just was not happy to perform on the day.

1. Shannons Erewhon Firefly – 4years bitch of good honest sound type. Good lay of shoulder and depth of chest. Good strong neck into flowing topline and nice rise over the loin. Curvy girl who I have judged as a youngster. Today was just outmoved by her kennel mate. But a quality girl that I still like.

1. Hills Shimmeree Calico’s Cupid – 6 months Blue baby of real feminine charm and elegance. Lovely head, dark eye and kind expression into lovely long strong neck, correctly laid-back shoulders. Neat elbows. Good straight front developing a good depth of brisket. Lovely flowing lines for one so young strong hindquarters and correct accurate movement away and back. In profile preferred her top and underline to the 2nd. Best Puppy & HPG2
2. Reece’s Saleehah Stardancer – 8 months of very sound construction. Nice straight front, feminine correctly shaped head, good eye and correct ears. Strong flowing neckline and good depth of chest. Good hindquarters and correct movement. Another lovely puppy but on the day, I preferred the curving flowing topline of the winner - felt she was a little flat both in the stand and on the move.

1. Wilton-Clarks Shalfleet Making Waves – beautiful brindle/white dog of tremendous style and of a lovely size. Still only a youngster but has all the makings of a fabulous hound. Textbook & super sound all over without exaggeration in any area. Excelled in size and balance loved his depth of chest and lovely flowing top and underlines. Lovely angulation in the shoulder and the hindquarters. Really came into his own on the move, loved the shape he made and the correct front movement when he got into his stride. Looked and performed at his best in the challenge. Delighted to award him BOB & Hound Group 1 – delighted to see him go Reserve Best In Show.
2. Nunneley’s Kelsmonk Kind Of Magic – 3-year-old dog a sound moving lad but for me not the flowing curves of the winner. However, moved soundly.

2. Lockyear & Price’s Ronchanelli Welcome News – 6-year-old dog, presented in fit muscular condition. Of a good size but for me a little short coupled and therefore not quite the extension in movement of the winner.
