Newmarket & District Canine Society 12 June 2022

My thanks to the officers and committee for a well-run show; the wind affected some dogs (and disintegrated the judge’s book!) thanks to my excellent steward for keeping everything running smoothly.

Belgian Shepherd Dog (Groenendael)

J (1), 1, Fowler & Mancey’s Toptune Take a Chance on Me, what a nice start to the day, a most appealing young bitch with a well balanced, typical head, well set and shaped ears which she used to good effect, dark eye, correct height/length ratio, light brisk action, just coming into adult coat, liked her a lot. BOB.

O (1) Fowler & Mancey’s Niavana Moon River at Toptune, mature bitch, dam of the junior to whom she has given many good qualities especially in her excellent head properties, well made both ends, good feet, moved well enough but not as settled and she is a touch longer cast. RBOB.

Belgian Shepherd Dog (Terveuren)

O (1) 1, BOB, Elliott’s Sulanevaeh Raul Thane, 6yo handsome mature male, in full impressive coat, masculine well-balanced head with good ear and eye, correct angles both ends and pleasing proportions, made good use of the big ring.

Border Collies

P (1) 1, Domotori & Benyi’s Lucky for You Ritmo de la Noche (Imp Hun), 7 months b/w, well shaped head with good strength of muzzle, good flow of neck into shoulder, kept topline well and nice balanced angulation, good going away and active in profile; just needs to fill in front a little, slightly untidy coming at me but a quality puppy; BP & PG3

J (1) 1, Oliver & Simmons’ Simmovon Shockwave at Tambuzi, b/w, pleasing head with well shaped muzzle and stop, dark eye and ears set well, neck correctly set into well-laid shoulder, matching hind angulation, well ribbed up, very good fill for age and tight feet, moves really well in all directions and especially in profile, RBOB.

Y (2) 1, S Shockwave at T; 2, Domotori & Benyi’s Lucky for You Wesley JW (Imp Hun), masculine r/w with a quality head and outlook, good outline and proportions, matching correct angulation front and rear, good tailset and carriage, clean with precise footfall coming and going; not sure if the wind was affecting him but not striding out in profile today as I have seen him do.

PG (3) 1, Greening’s Kanamaren Take These Pearls, this ultra feminine b/w took my eye immediately and that first impression was confirmed on going over her, she is very well made all through and so typy, strong jaw, balanced head and pleasing outlook, well ribbed up and she really scored with her movement, so light, active and purposeful with correct head carriage, a real herding dog, lovely to watch. BOB & G3; 2, S Shockwave at T; 3, Porter’s Kirkwind Shooting Star.

L (2, 1 abs) 1, Woodrow’s Arrodare In the Zone, 2yo b/w, nice head with dark eye, strong jaw and good earset, well laid shoulder, good turn of stifle, kept topline well on the move, clean going away and good in profile, paddling a bit in front.

O (3) 1, Greening’s Kanamaren Hold On My Heart, 5y/o mature bitch, well balanced outline with pleasing head and front, good feet, feminine head with strong jaw, good turn of stifle, excellent profile movement, a touch close going away. In excellent coat and well presented as were all the Collies today; 2, Tansley’s Bilyara River Ranch ShCM, 12 y/ in fantastic shape with no concessiosn needed for his age, of excellent type with very good front and feet, masculine well shaped head, well off for body, moved cleanly all round; 3, Beaumont’s Kanamaren Trick of the Tail at Borderbeau JW ShCM.

Hungarian Puli

O (1) Henshaw’s Ch Magikus Belatrix Black, stood alone but a very worthy winner. Desired square outline, fine strong bone, dark eye and strong teeth, keen expression with very good front and feet, deep brisket, well muscled rear, movement precise and light, in full excellent coat; BOB.

Old English Sheepdog

O (2) 1, BOB, Naismith’s Shaggybo Beautiful Dream, very nice young bitch, feminine but sturdy with a pleasing outlook, square outline, very good front with plenty of fill, moved really well with plenty of drive, and good head carriage, excellent coat and well-presented; 2, RBOB, Howsam’s Melleonars Go for Gold at Jandoes (Imp Deu), 3 y/o masculine boy in full coat with a very nice head and outlook, correct topline, in very good coat, would just like a little more fill in front.
