Finnish Spitz

A really difficult appointment with many different makes, shapes, sizes and types. Quite a challenge, and I had to make lots of compromises, but certainly a very enjoyable day with a superb breed. Thank you so much everyone.

Puppy (3,0)

1st: Rolfe’s Enkelini Kirsikan Kukka. Obviously very immature, but for me, she stood away and shows bags of potential. Head is developing well and clean cut and refined enough for me. Lovely eyes which are almond in shape and dark in colour. Her ears are certainly sharply pointed and the set looked ok on the few times I managed to observe it. Neck ok for length. Could perhaps be slightly squarer in outline. Little bum high at present. Tail set is ok. Lovely feet. Rich colour. I felt she had a very nice stride when she got going. One I think that could really hit the top honours as she matures on. I shall watch her progress with interest. BP & RBOB

2nd: Rolfe’s Enkelini Hopeinen Ukkonen. Looking more mature than 1st but still quite long and leggy at present. Eyes good for shape and set and ears are pointed and well set. Moderate length to neck. Quite well built. Chest still to develop on. Firm topline. Tail set is high. Rich colour. Not the preciseness of movement of the winner.

3rd: Yeung’s Valokki Liekki

Special Yearling (2,0)

1st: Knight’s & Stokes’ Valokki Guovssahasat. Quite nice head with typical expression though could perhaps be just a tad more refined for my preference. Dark eyes of correct shape. Ears are set moderately high and are of the correct shape. Correct length to neck. Very well angulated all through. Squareish in outline. Tail is set on high. Very precise mover.

2nd: Knight & Stokes’ Toveri Evie of Lelaps. Looking very refined and delicate in her state of undress. Very pretty and I appreciated her head and expression. Rather more upright in her angulations than the winner and needs to drop in chest. Topline is firm. Tail is set on high and curls ok. Rich colour. Movement rather erratic. Needs to mature on and tighten up all through.

Open (2,0)

1st: Slater’s Valokki Suvituuli. There is much to like about this bitch. She has a very typical head with an endearing, mischievous expression. Dark, almond shaped eyes. Lovely neck. Great angulation. Nice for bone. Deep chest. I would like her just a bit shorter in loin. Moderate tuck up. High set tail with good curl. Moderate bend to stifles. Great feet. She would persist in pacing on the day, which rather ruined her chances here. Very eye catching girl.

2nd: Rolfes’ Saisaasen Salmiakki via Valokki. Masculine through the head with quite nice expression. Eyes are dark and almond shaped. Dark lips. Correct balance to skull and muzzle. Balance in angulation. Chest ok for depth. Topline firm and he had decent proportions. Tail set looked a tad low.

Veteran

1st: Knights & Stokes’ Ch Toveri Turo of Lelaps. Of undoubted high quality. Showing his years in some respects, but for 10+, I felt he was fab.. Excellent breed type and lovely expression. Well put together all through with very balanced angles fore and aft. Deep chest, moderate tuck up. Firm topline. High set tail. Good feet. Best proportions of the day and really fills the eye for overall conformation with the standard. Super on the move from all angles. Didn’t hesitate in awarding BOB here. Well done.
