Firstly, may I apologise that these reports are late! This is a fantastic show, with one of the best show Committee’s and I’m sure it will gather even more support next year. I really enjoyed my day. There were lots of super dogs on show and I had some super hard decisions to make. Thank you to all my stewards through the day. You were brill!

BIS:

Thank you to the group judges for sending through some lovely dogs. I awarded BIS to the fab Dobermann I judged earlier in the day in Santoriello’s Rafthouse Amulets Child. He looked absolutely wonderful with the sun gleaming on his shiny black coat and muscular well-formed body. He was of course so expertly handled and moved with such flare to outshine all the competition. My RBIS was a super hound in the form of Howlett & Phillips’ Wire Haired Dachshund, Tendrow Makes The Right Turn. Looking absolutely beautiful, full of breed type and showing everyone how to move! She could not be denied.

Best Puppy In Show:

Again, some super prospects lined up here, but I fell for the Border Terrier I had judged earlier in the day, Ramus’ Tulawyn Garrison by Onthill. He looked super confident here and was really showing off all his virtues and never put a foot wrong. I shall watch his progress with great interest. RBPIS was awarded to Santoriello’s Pinicio Roses Are Red. A real beautiful Miniature Pinscher and sure-fire champ in the making. Lots of breed type, shapely and lovely to go over. Full of spark on the move and managed to calm herself enough to take this spot. Super prospect.

Best Veteran In Show:

Such strong competition here. I particularly liked the Cocker Spaniel who just missed out on one of the top awards. In the top spot was the Finnish Lapphund, Jackson’s Ch Tilkkuturkin Hallantuoma to Elbereth JW ShCM (imp Fin). No stranger to me and still looking the class act. She has lots of breed type to admire and super construction all through. In great coat and condition and moved to perfection. I just love her personality! Certainly makes her handler work! In the reserve spot was the charming Papillon Davidson-Poston’s Ch/Ir/Nl/Int Ch Spinillons Rebel Rowser JW ShCM CW14 VW ShCEx. A most impressive dog with a wonderful head and smashing to go over. In wonderful bloom and super confident. Strode around the ring and demanded to be noticed. A real cracker!

Weimaraner

Puppy (1,0)

1st: Wood’s Stormdancer Plum Pudding. A very personable puppy who took a little time to settle. Built on nice lines, Well-balanced and shows promise to develop on well. Moves soundly. Lots of maturing to do. Stood alone in the breed today. BOB, BP

Airedale

Open (1,0)

1st Brown’s Jokyl Daily Special. Very nice keen expression. Skull is long enough and flat and not overly broad. Strong jaws. Tight lips. Dark eyes. Ears are v shaped and well set. Moderate length to neck. Balanced angles. Well boned and muscled. Tail set on high. Needs to settle on the move. BOB

Border Terrier

A splendid entry with some classy terriers.

Puppy (3,0)

1st: Ramus’ Tulawyn Garrison by Onthill. Loved this young lads head and expression. Typically otter like with enough breadth and strength to muzzle. Dark eyes with fab spark to them. Small v shaped ears. Spans well. Racy all through and developing well. Moderate angles. Firm topline. Tail set and carried correctly. Good skin. Jacket ok for age. Moves so soundly from all angles. BP

2nd: Cox’s Lady Jed. Very raw and a cheeky little girl. Head is developing well and has the typical expression required by the standard. Dark eyes and pigment. Moderate angles. Quite fine bone but shows strength in body. Firm topline. Muscular. Moves with ease and just slightly better than 3rd on the day.

3rd: Nettle’s Ceilloch Griffin at Onziemehurst

Junior (2,0)

1st: Heeley’s Thistlemead Scentsation. Skull has decent width and muzzle is reasonably short and strong. Dark eyes and keen expression. Neck moderate in length. Upper arm could perhaps angle back slightly more. Chest is deep enough. Moderate turn to stifles. Topline is firm enough. Jacket harsh and dense. Moves soundly. RBOB

2nd: Fulker’s Onthill Crystal Clear to Foxpaw. Like 1st, has a reasonably typical head and expression. Broad enough in skull. Neck correct for length. Preferred upper arm on this one, but she could be slightly deeper in chest. Good bone. Firm topline and correct tail set. Didn’t move out as well as 1st. Shown in good order.

Post Graduate (6,1)

1st: Heeley’s Thistlemead Sundance. Very attractive, but all terrier. Nice otter like head with good breadth and short strong muzzle. Keen expression. Dark pigment. Small ears that are well set. Moderate length to neck. Spans well. Very nice to go over with good angulation without being overdone. Liked her proportions. Excellent mover from all angles and great jacket. BOB

2nd: Cox’s Grand Boy. Not quite so typical through the head as 1st for me, though eyes are dark and pigment is good. Clean neck. Slightly more rounded in rib than my winner. Ok for bone. Moderate angles. Topline firm. Tail set high. Sound mover. Good coat.

3rd: Hughes’ Arunmere Annie Oakley

Open (7,2)

1st: Ramus’ Onthill Daydreamer. A nicely proportioned terrier who is very typical through the head. Looking just a wee bit broad through the body. Neck moderate in length. Ok for bone. Medium angulation. Firm topline. Tail set is high. Moved the soundest in the class.

2nd: Cox’s Grand Boy

3rd: Hughes’ Reedbeck Kittyhawk of Arunmere

Cesky Terrier.

Lots of quality here.

Puppy (1,0)

1st: Burrage’s Komidion Sonata For Sametova. Thought this was a promising puppy. Shows correct length through the head without being overdone. Quite a friendly looking expression. Ears set and carried correctly. Elegant neck. Correct length through the body. Strong legs with good angulation. Topline shows typical slight rise to the well arched loins, Firm hocks. Tail set and carried well. Gleaming condition and moves so soundly. BP

Junior (1,0)

1st: Dukes & Rodgers’ Runiks Akreepa of Dragons. Bit more of a challenge to go over but has a lovely overall make and shape and knows how to show it off. Typical head and very nice through the body. No weediness here, but still retains the elegance that I associate with this breed. Totally balanced throughout and moving very well indeed. RBOB

Open (3,0)

1st England & Burrage’s Ch Ashleyheath’s Black Thunder ShCM ShCEx. A stunning dog. Most typical in make and shape and so good for type. Indeed, brought the standard to life for me here. Great to go over with excellent body for length and depth - so well proportioned. Typical topline for the breed, elegant but masculine, and an exemplary mover from all angles. Great coat and presentation. BOB.

2nd: Burrage’s Sametova Bacaray. Not quite the presence of 1st. Still good to go over and, overall, presents a very well-balanced picture with many good breed virtues on display. Could not match 1st’s overall excellence and not so flowing on the move.

3rd: Dukes & Rodgers’ Placido Musical Miracle at Runiks

Dandie Dinmont

One of my favourite breeds.

Post Graduate (2,0)

1st: Fry’s Mishanda Pearls A Singer. Head strongly made and in proportion. Well domed forehead and muzzle is well proportioned to the skull. Eyes correct for colour and set wide apart. Ears are set wide apart with correct featherings. Shoulders well laid back. Perhaps just a tad heavy across the shoulders. Topline was firm enough. Good underline and typical arch over the loins. Moves soundly but a little sluggish in the heat. RBOB

2nd: Kenyon’s Ceilmear Close Encounter. Didn’t feel this one was quite as typical through the head as 1st - needed more breadth and roundness. Head looked a tad small compared to body. Medium angulation. Moves sound enough.

Open (1,0)

1st: Davies’ Dandie Dream Call Me Winner (IMP ESP) JW EJW’22. Head of good shape and size. Lovely expression with wide set eyes. Ears set well with correct featherings. Good angles and felt his body was ‘long, strong and flexible’ as the standard requires. Typical topline. Felt his coat texture was correct. Excellent mover indeed. For me, still lots of maturing to do, but shows so much promise. BOB

Fox Terrier

Junior (1,0)

1st’s Kettle’s Foxindean Radio Ga Ga. Cheeky and full of personality. Well made and has some nice breed points. Quite a lot of black colouring. Moves soundly.

Post Graduate (1,0)

1st: Roger’s Lunafox Gentle Touch. Very pretty. Not quite the shape and outline I was looking for. Head is ok in shape and eyes are dark and expressive. Moderate angles. Coat in good order. Moves soundly. RBOB

Open (2,0)

1st: Rogers’ Only You Du Manoir Saint Adrien At Lunafox (Imp Fra). Feminine. Flat skull. She has small dark eyes and a really great expression, Nice straight front. Reachy neck. Back is short and tail set on high. For me, she had the best outline here today. Moves up on her toes and soundly. BOB

2nd: Kettle’s Foxindean Wild Is The Wind. For me, not quite the elegance and lines of the winner. Flat in skull, but not looking quite as feminine. Sound in legs and body and very well presented overall. Moves soundly.

Miniature Schnauzers

Puppy (2,1)

1st: Ayling’s Quickpaw Banjo Odyssey. A gassy little dog, full of fun. Lots of time to mature. Shows a good deal of breed virtues and is nicely put together. Moves ok when settled.

Open (1,0)

1st Bishop & Evans’ Nujax Storm Warning. Shows typical head properties with correct balance and head planes. Dark eyes. Cheeky expression. Correct beard. Nice for bone. Square in outline. Deep chest. Well angulated. Tail set on just high enough. Firm topline. Jacket looking and feeling good. Moves very soundly in profile. BOB

Dobermann

Puppy (2,1)

1st: Ingram & Lack’s Jojavik Belladonic Fame. A very classy looking young bitch who wasn’t particularly enjoying the conditions here today which was a shame. Shapely and lots of breed type. Clean lean head of correct proportions. Reachy neck. Looked to have everything in all the right places. Movement erratic on the day. RBOB. BP

Open (2,1)

1st: Santoriello’s Rafthouse Amulets Child. I judged this smashing boy at Southampton last year and suggested he had lots of maturing to do. Well, he has, and a real stallion has emerged. Looked absolutely gleaming today. Masculine head without being heavy. Has the correct degree of chiselling and shape to his head. Good forechest and nice length to his muscular neck. Shoulders slope well and upper arm returns to set his forelegs nicely under him. His pasterns have strengthened since I last met him. Good deep chest and graceful underline. Firm topline with slight slope. Well filled croup and carries his tail very nicely. Moderate turn of stifles and well turned, strong hocks. Powerhouse on the move covering loads of ground. Looked magnificent today. Very well handled. BOB and my eventual BIS. Congratulations.

Junior Stakes

1st: Heeley’s Thistlemead Scentsation. Border Terrier. Critique as above

2nd: Hunt’s Zentaur Jam Master Joy. A very nice Newf who looked great here. Good for type, overall balance and moved out out so lovely. Well handled.

3rd: Watt’s Oakleaf Manor bay of Oakmarsh (Imp Den) Chesapeake Bay Retriever

Open Stakes

1st: Corin & Camm’s Kligenthal Almuric. Norw. Buhund. I seem to have written so much about this dog of late. I can’t add to those previous comments here except to say that he looked and moved fantastic and this placed him first in this quality class.

2nd: Blaney’s Esp/Sui Ch Suna-Sanik’s Electric Noah of Fenrirkin (Imp Now). Greenland Dog. Another I have met and liked before. Upstanding specimen with so much breed type. Great build, bone and balance. Moved with lots of drive and really stood out here in this tough class.

3rd: Williams’ & Toublic’s Cobhay Fancy Phlox

Champion Stakes

1st: England & Burrage’s Ch Ashleyheath’s Black Thunder ShCM ShCEx. Cesky. Critique as above

2nd: Rowes’ Ch Boloria Nice’N Spicy JW. A delightful Wire Haired Dachshund who clearly has all the qualities to make her the Champion she is. Really well put together and good to go over. In superfluous condition and moved fantastic to gain this position.

3rd: Watt’s Sh Ch Oakmarsh Chestnut. Chesapeake Bay Retreiver.
