Camborne Redruth Canine Society

Cambourne and Redruth Open Show

9th July 2022

Thank you very much to the Society for inviting me to judge the Working and Pastoral Groups, to the exhibitors for bringing their dogs under me, and to my steward for keeping me organised. I chose to go through due to the weather and also to stay outside where at least there was a breeze.

Veteran (3,0)

A very difficult and quality class …

1st Dawe’s Ewynbox The Cornish Issue JW, ShCM, 11yo red Boxer d, balanced outline, good head proportions with good length of muzzle, lovely expression, ears ok, good length of neck and front - but handler tended to stand him a little too far forward, well boned, good width of chest, good topline, fabulous hind angulation set off by a good width of thigh, good tail for set and thickness, moved very well.

2nd Akehurst Ch Kernow All My Loving, 8yo BMD b, initially thought this lovely girl would be my class winner, handler tends to stand her hind end too close so she looks a bit stuffy in outline, good head and expression, very slightly loose eye and snow nose, well boned and in super coat, moderate angulation fore and aft, good feet, moved well.

3rd Burnett’s Sushi Too Hot To Handle, RBOB Boxer.

BOB

2nd Eldred’s Karmidale Talk Of The Town At Belthorne, 8 yo sable dog, another presented in full coat, not quite the balance of 1 as tends to stand a little wide in front, head with sweet expression, well angulated fore and aft, just enough bone, giving a lot away in age but not the movement of 1.

Moved well. Lovely bitch, time on her side, RBOB, BPIB, Puppy Group 1.

PG (1,0)

1st Scanlan’s Jotars Reach for the Stars With Franmar, 18m, red merle b with tan markings, good head planes, obliquely set eyes - colour in keeping with coat, ears a little heavy, good width to chest, well off for bone and good feet, topline level, well sprung rib and depth to elbow, for me needs a bit more angulation fore and aft, but she is equal and therefore balanced and moved soundly.

O (3,0)

1st Scanlan’s Mistyholly Blues Brother of Franmar ShCM, 7yo blue merle d, nicely marked with clear blue and rich tan, balanced with good height to length ratio, head with good planes and expression, good ears for size and set, good length of neck, well angulated shoulder, deep chest of good width and well ribbed back, level topline, well angulated hind quarters. Dripping in coat which initially made him look heavy in front, but once had hands on him could feel that he wasn’t. Moved well. BOB.

2nd Scanlan’s Allmark Fairytales of Franmar, 6yo tri colour b, with the darkest of black and rich rust, partial white collar on show side, balanced outline with good proportion of height to length, good head with a dark eye and lovely expression, ears a little large, good length of neck, well boned, lovely feet, good topline but jacket is heavy and makes her look a little stuffy, good hind angulation, bob tail, moved well … however not with quite enough enthusiasm for BOB today.
