Windsor Gundog Society

Windsor Gundog Society Open Show 6 April 2022: My thanks to the Officers and Committee for allowing me to judge at your show, to my ring steward Martin for keeping things running smoothly and, mostly, to the exhibitors for braving the weather which thankfully stayed dry during my breeds. English Setter: P(1,0) – 1. Loakes Goldbirch Hearts Desire – Balanced bitch with very pleasing outline. Feminine head with good stop, dark eyes, ears set on low and all correctly proportioned. Liked the front, well ribbed, level topline and nice bend of stifle. Moved out well making good use of her tail - BP; J(1,0) – 1. Williams Richecca Midwinter – Another quality youngster who looked a picture stood. Masculine head with good length of muzzle, correct bite and low ear set. Strong neck, nicely sloped shoulders, well sprung ribs plus a well angulated and muscled rear that drove out on the move both in the class and in the challenge; fully deserving of BOB; G(1,0) – 1. Catton & Cooks Valsett Starlite Sky Storm With Ferngate – Another young dog that has a nice head and pleasing expression. Good front, shoulders and neck. Well ribbed with correct topline and tail set. Sound overall, he moved ok in his class but lost out on strength in rear movement to the Junior winner hence RBOB; O(2,2). Irish Setter: MP(1,1); P(1,0) – 1. Hall Glennara Cherry Cola – Just short of a year old, this bitch is developing nicely. Racy in outline and nicely proportioned, she has a pleasing head and lovely dark eyes. Liked the angulations throughout, good arch of neck, well ribbed, sound top line and correct tail set. Moved out well for one so young – BP; J(2,1) – 1. Peters Corranroo Hot Sensation – Very feminine bitch just into Junior and maturing nicely. Fine & pretty head with nice planes. Nice length of neck, well-made front, good spring of ribs and sound rear. Moved ok; N(2,2); G(4,2) – 1. Evans’ Twoacres Double Bubble – Nicely balanced bitch with a pleasant head and a lovely straight coat. Good sternum and rear. Won the class on movement; 2. Fox & Fiders’ Kerryfair Heart To Heart – preferred the overall head shape and rear of this younger bitch who has some maturing to do. Everything else is nicely proportioned but she didn’t have the steadiness in movement compared to the winner; PG(6,2) – 1. Catling Quensha Family Portrait For Teleri – Elegant, well balanced bitch with beautiful head, dark eyes and lovely expression. Good length of neck into nice shoulders, correct topline and tail set. Well angulated front and rear with a good sternum and spring to ribs. Steady and assured on the move using her tail well – RBOB. Delighted to witness her gaining her first CC 3 days later in Scotland – fantastic and well done; 2. Kennedy-Sloane Twoacres Destiny – Another quality bitch with a pretty head and balanced outline. Sound throughout with nice topline and rear. Steady on the move but didn’t have the purpose and drive of the class winner; 3. Barnes Gwendariff Lets Look At Me; Res. Evans Twoacres Spring Blossom; OD(1,1); OB(8,3) – 1. Edwards Gwendariff It’s Numero Uno At Bonhomie JW – Lots to like about this elegant, racy bitch of good substance. From her pretty head to her correctly set tail she has many good points including front, spring of rib, topline and bend of stifle. Balanced throughout with lovely straight coat. Moved true with drive and lashing tail – BOB; 2. Elkins Twoacres Promise Of Spring With Avacet – A finer bitch all through compared to 1 but equally balanced. Sound body with nice angulations and good topline held on the move. Preferred the substance and drive of 1 today; 3. Fox Kerryfair Special Diamond; Res. Catling Teleri Here Comes Summer (AI); VHC. Cox Tiroen To The Moon And Back; V(1,1).
