Gordon Setters

I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge Gordon Setters. Such a great venue for an open show made better with the help of the committee and stewards ensuring all ran smoothly and making it an enjoyable day.

Class 40 - Puppy (2:1)

1st and BP, Mappin’s, Carnoustie Are You Ready For It (AI) IMP AUS). A nice young boy that will only improve with age and I will watch him with interest as he matures. Lovely head of correct type with nice stop and general pleasing expression, Good forechest and front angulation, good strong bone, his depth and spring of ribs are as I would expect of this age. Good level topline which he held well on the move, great rear angulation with good bend of stifle and nice length from hip to hock. His movement is still a little loose, but everything is correct and he still demonstrated good drive.

Class 41 - Junior (2:0)

1st and BOB, Ashley-Turner’s, Hernwood The Botanist. A nice looking masculine dog with well shaped head and nice eyes with low set ears. Strong neck and nice forechest and very good front angulation with good substance in bone, well ribbed and good topline of which he held superbly on the move. Nice rear angulation with bend of stifle, on the move he demonstrated drive and held his tail well too although if moved a little faster this would show his power in drive more. Coat in lovely condition and superbly presented. He will only get better in the coming years.

2nd Ozog’s, X-Man Black Lofty At Amberlove (IMP POL). Strong head that was a little broader than 1 still with good stop, good front angulation and shoulder lay back acceptable good topline but I preferred the croup of 1, Rear angulation is balanced with the front with good bend of stifle. Moved nicely and presented well.

Class 42 - Post Graduate (5:2)

1st Ozog’s, X-Man Black Lofty At Amberlove (IMP POL). As seen in Junior.

2nd Crowther’s, Ronaldsbill Midnight Blitz. Feminine head with nice expression, good reach of neck with balanced angulation front and rear, A little lighter in bone but with a level topline. Initially on the move she was a little off balance but when she settled moved well.

3rd Smith’s, Palangor Moonlight Shadow

Class 43 – Open (2:0)

1st and RBOB Crowther’s, Hernwood Stella Firework. A pretty feminine bitch with a pleasing head with low set ears, well sprung ribs and good depth. Sound conformation across all areas with nice topline. On the move she is really balanced with good drive, a pleasure to watch her go round. Presented and handled well.

2nd Smith’s – Pegasett Jack the Lad of Boswedden. A mature dog with a nice outline, a head as is should be with good stop and dark eye and pleasant expression, good front and rear angulation with stifles well bent topline ok but was held better on the move, moved nicely and demonstrated acceptable drive.
