Berkshire Downs and Chilterns Golden Retriever Club Open Show : 2nd of July 2022

I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge this open show. I had a thoroughly enjoyable day with some beautiful goldens to judge.
Thank you to my Stewards Dawn & Lesley for keeping me right during the day.
Minor Puppy Dog :
Such a lovely class of puppies with a great future ahead of them.
1. Mills Mr B and Mrs. B : Kentishgold Tigger at Millwater. Beautiful 6 month old boy in a lovely mid gold coat. Very handsome head with a gentle expression, correct ear set and dark eyes. Well laid shoulders with excellent front assembly, deep chested and short coupled. Super top line with good tailset and good rear angulation. This puppy moved so well for his age, when he stopped having far too much fun.
2. Archers Miss P : Haydengold Just a Rumour at Sunandair. Another lovely puppy in good mid gold coat. Nice head with excellent pigment and a kind expression. Good length of neck, good top line and good tail set with a wagging tail. Good lay back of shoulder but would prefer more upper arm and forchest to balance the excellent rear angulation. Moved with drive.
3. Purvis Mrs T : Kentishgold Paddington
Puppy Dog :
1. Jeremiah Miss C : Lampcien Snow Risk. Another young puppy with promise for the future. This young boy has a larger frame and will take some time to fill. Beautiful head with a very soft expression and excellent pigment. Good reach of neck into very well laid shoulders, good forechest and good return of upper arm. Deep chested with a good spring of rib. Excellent bone. Little bum high at the moment just affecting his top line. Good rear angulation and moved with drive once settled.
Junior Dog :
1. Taylor Mr J & Mrs B : Alibren Aldaniti at Tannadice. Very pleasing head, good strong neck into excellent shoulder placement, would prefer more upper arm to balance. Good top line. Nice straight front legs with excellent feet. Short coupled with very good rear angulation. Beautiful Mid Gold Coat. Moved well.
2. Wallington Mr D : Ambersun with Hearts of Oak. Lovely masculine head, strong neck and good shoulders. Super top line and tailset, with a good spring of rib. Straight front legs, well off for bone and super cat like feet. A balanced dog who moved well, just carrying his tail a little proud on the day.
Yearling Dog :
1. Baxter & Riley Miss B & Mr N : Bermary Captain Hastings JW. Handsome young male with pleasing head, kind eye and with excellent pigment. Good length of neck into well placed shoulders, excellent front assembly and straight front legs. Dead level top line and tail set. Excellent rear angulation allowing this boy to move with drive. Shown in a lovely coat.
2. Taylor Mr J & Mrs B : Alibren Aldaniti at Tannadice
Novice Dog :
1. Wallington Mr D : Ambersun with Hearts of Oak
2. Jayakumar Miss S & Mrs L : Furryworks Tourmaline for Jayasova. Pleasing head with a good eye shape but would prefer a darker eye. Straight front legs with good feet. Good reach of neck with excellent top line and tailset. Balanced front and rear. Not in his best coat however a very happy boy who moved well.
Undergraduate Dog :
1. Grainger & Turner Miss S & Ms R : Amilone Aramis. 2 year old cream male with a lovely masculine head and a pleasing expression. Good reach of neck into well laid shoulders, good front angulation, straight front legs, good deep chest and good length of loin. Good topline and tailset giving a lovely overall picture. Balanced rear angulation allowing this dog to move with good reach and drive.
2. Taylor Mr J & Mrs B : Alibren Aldaniti at Tannadice
Graduate Dog :
1. O’Gorman Mrs P & Mr S : Berrymeade Moscow Mule. Lovely Mid gold dog in good coat. Nice head with dark eye and good ear set. Good length of neck into well placed shoulders. Good front assembly with good forechest. Level topline with tail set level and happy wagging tail. Good spring of rib & short coupled. Excellent rear angulation with hocks well let down. moved effortlessly round the ring. A very balanced outline. Reserve best dog.
2. Cooper Miss A : Amilone Cosendonk at Dikeadaze (AI). Beautiful blonde coated male with the most handsome head, masculine yet very kind. Strong neck with well placed shoulders, good forechest, good return of upper arm giving a balanced outline. Excellent top line and tail set, excellent rear angulation moving with drive round the ring.
Post Graduate Dog :
1. Wallington Mr D : Wynrita School Daze. Nice balanced dog in profuse gold coat. Masculine head with lovely pigment and dark eye. Strong neck, excellent shoulders with a good top line. good front assembly, deep chested with good spring of rib and short coupled. Good rear angulation with good width of thigh, well muscled and moved well.
2. Simms-Stelling Mrs P : Penbridge Play Fast and Loose for StVincent. Mid gold boy with a clean outline. Nice head and good length of neck set on well placed shoulders. Level topline and tailset. Balanced front and rear angulation, good depth of chest, straight front legs, tight feet. Moved well.
Limit dog :
1. Taylor Mr J & Mrs B : Alibren Eccles at Tannadice JW, Stood alone in the class but very worthy of 1st place. Lovely cream boy in super coat. Most gentle head, well chiselled and good pigment. Strong neck into well placed shoulders flowing into a dead level topline and tailset, with a wagging tail always carried level on the move. Good front assembly with deep chest and short coupled. Excellent rear angulation allowing him to move well with drive.
Open Dog :
1. Kinchella Mr P & Mrs T : Honeymill Elder Warrior. This boy caught my eye as he walked in the ring, I have admired him from ringside and was delighted to have him come into my ring. The most beautiful head, intelligent with a soft expression, lovely dark eye and pigment. Strong neck with well laid back shoulders, good forechest and excellent return of upper arm. Deep chested with a good spring of rib & short coupled. Good width of thigh with a good bend of stifle, very well muscled. Super topline and tail carriage with a constant wagging tail. Shown in a beautiful gold full coat. He looks a picture on the stand and captures you on the move, effortlessly covering ground. Best Dog and Reserve Best In Show.
2. Williams Mr & Mrs T : Thornywait Full Monty at Trebettyn. Good size mature male in profuse gold coat. Well chiselled head with soft expression. Would prefer a little more neck. Good shoulders and front assembly. Good deep chest, well off for bone and substance to his body. Super topline and tailset, balanced rear, just gave handler hard time on the move, but once settled, good footfall.
Veteran Bitch :
My favourite class of the day, all are such a credit to their owners and the breed.
1. Turner Ms R : Grains of Golds Arwen of Amilone (Imp Swe) SGWC. Having watched this bitch ringside I have admired her greatly and was delighted to finally go over her. Most feminine head and still such great pigment. Balanced throughout with good front and rear quarters, excellent shoulder placement, dead level topline and tail carried level on the move. And cant this girl move - Perfect footfall and driving from rear. In good hard condition. Best Veteran In Show.
2. Seamons Mrs P & Mrs J : Messano Double Or Quits JW. Another fabulous veteran girl who does not look her age. Feminine head with great pigment and the sweetest expression. Good topline and tailset, Good front & rear angulation, short coupled. Shown in a beautiful full cream coat and good condition. Moved so true.
3. Kinchella Mr P & Mrs T : Wynrita Scanalmonger
Minor Puppy Bitch :
1. List Ms L : Haydengold Gossip Girl. This puppy is just right for her age. Most beautiful head with dark eye and pigment. Good length of neck into well placed shoulders. Dead level topline and tailset, with tail carried level on the move. Good front and rear angulation, not overdone in anyway. Straight front legs and super cat feet. Good bone and moved really well, will love to watch this girl grow. Best Puppy In Show
2. Layland Mr M & Miss L : Applecote Love In Disguise. So much to like about this puppy. Feminine head with lovely dark eye and super pigment. Good reach of neck into well laid shoulders, good front assembly, deep chested, short coupled and good bend of stifle. In a lovely pale gold coat, moved well.
3. Hazelton Mrs L & Mr J : Cailloch Rowie
Puppy Bitch :
1. List Ms L : Haydengold Gossip Girl.
2. Smith Mrs E : Gablecross Rosie Cotton with Lucastes. Very feminine head with excellent pigment. Good reach of neck, good shoulder placement into dead level topline and tailset, with tail carried perfectly level on the move. Good front and rear angulation allowing her to move with good reach and drive. Straight front legs and good bone. In good condition.
3. Layland Mr M & Miss L : Applecote Love In Disguise
Junior Bitch :
1. Healy Ms M : Marsabit Shimmer & Shine. So much to like about this Gold bitch, pretty head with dark eye and gentle expression. Good reach of neck with good shoulder placement. Good angulation front and rear. Straight front legs. Good spring of ribs and length of loin, good width of second thigh. Lovely topline and tail set level and carries so on the move. Covered the ground well.
2. O’Gorman Mrs P & Mr S : Berrymeade Kinvara. Feminine young bitch very similar attributes to 1st. Lovely balanced picture with good angulation for and aft, solid topline and constant wagging tail. Moved with drive, just not quite as flowing as 1st.

1. Healy Ms M : Marsabit Shimmer & Shine
2. Nelson & Ashton Mrs V & Mrs C : Willowlawn Staycation at Cadwst. Lovely cream girl in a lovely coat. Very feminine head beautifully proportioned. Good length of neck flowing into well laid shoulders and a super topline. Good front angles and forechest, straight legs and good feet. Good spring of rib. Good bend of stifle leaving a balanced picture.

Good reach of neck flowing into shoulders, well placed. Good forechest and return of upper arm. Super topline leading to a very waggy tail. Good depth to chest, well ribbed, and short in loin. Good width of second thigh with good bend of stifle. This girl moved so effortlessly round the ring.
2. Cole Mrs L : Rooksbury Kalypso. Mid gold girl with a good head, solid topline, good bone, straight front legs with nice feet. Balanced front and rear. Moved with good drive covering the ground well. Not in the best of coat but still a beautiful picture.
3. James Miss A : Tsarmont Starlet
Post Graduate Bitch :
1. May Mrs J : Cherrygold Storyteller JW. A very pretty girl. Lovely head with good eye shape and sweetest expression, always smiling. Super front assembly with good forechest. Straight front legs with super catlike feet and well off for bone. Good substance to the body, with good bend of stifle and well muscled. Moved so well covering the ground with her ever wagging tail carried level off her back. Reserve Best Bitch
2. Todd Mrs P : Toddrosa Oasis Charm JW. Slightly larger framed girl but very balanced. In a lovely cream coat with a clean outline. Nothing overdone, balanced front and rear, clean neck flowed into the dead level topline and tailset. Moved well.
3. List Ms L : Haydengold Time To Remember
Limit Bitch :
This class was full of quality.
1. O’Gorman Mrs P & Me S : Thornywait Top Notch for Berrymeade JW. And this girl really is Top Notch… I have admired this girl from ringside and was delighted to be able to have the opportunity to judge her. Femininity all through from nose to tail. Oozes quality. Kindest head with a melting dark eye. Good reach of neck flowed to the best of shoulder placement and onto a super topline and tailset. Excellent front angulation with good forechest, tight elbows, straight front legs and super cat like feet. Good spring of rib, good width of second thigh and super rear angulation which allowed her to move beautifully - effortlessly covering ground. No hesitation in awarding Best In Show.
2. Nelson Mrs V : Cadwst Eternal Flame. Another girl I have admired from ringside and she didn’t disappoint. The most appealing head, with good length of neck flowing into excellent shoulder placement and then the dead level topline and tailset. Excellent front and rear angulation, well off for bone, straight legs, hocks well let down. Moved true, a very sound bitch.
3. Turner Ms R : Moonshine De Ria Vela over Amilone (Esp) JW.
Open Bitch :
1. List Ms L : Haydengold Rumour Has It JW. Gold girl, who while not in the best of coat, is so pleasing to the eye. Excellent front and rear quarters, good depth of chest, short coupled, level topline and tail carried level on the move
2. Fry Mr K : Fenpinque Coco Chanel. Nice Cream girl, nice head with good shaped dark eye. Strong neck, excellent front and rear angulation. Super topline and well bodied. In hard condition which showed on the move.
