I would like to thank the society for inviting me to judge at their show. It has seemed like a very long wait with the show being cancelled for the past 2 years due to the covid pandemic.

I was very fortunate to have such lovely exhibits to go over. I must say for a breed where mouths have become an issue, I can happily report that all mouths today were good and some I would say were ‘perfect’.

Chihuahua (Long Coat)

Puppy – (2)

1st – Stangoe’s STANGHURST TOP GUN – 10 months old red boy. This I believe was his first show. A lovely little puppy. Very pretty head and eye. Lovely dentition. Perfectly level top line and a well carried tail. Moved well. One I will watch with interest. BP

2nd – Berrington’s PAPPERSLEY RED TIGER – 11 months old cream sable. Another lovely boy of nice size. Very attentive to handler. Good head and well placed ears. Moved with drive.

Junior – (1)

1st – Humphrey’s AMARANTOS HERMIONE – 13 months old black tri. The most beautiful head, nicely rounded eye and correct ear set which created that typical chihuahua expression. In lovely condition with just the right amount of coat for her age. Good movement. Still very much a puppy with her playful character – she made me laugh.

Open – (2)

1st – Berrington’s ELLOCHI CRAZY NIGHTS FOR PAPPERSLEY JW – a 5 year old male who I have seen many times from the ringside and one who did not disappoint on this closer inspection. A lovely mature boy with a great coat. A nicely rounded head with large eyes and nice length of muzzle. A very well made and balanced boy overall. A very smart mover who carries himself well. BOB.

2nd – Berrington’s ELLOCHI GIN O’CLOCK – 17 months old gold and white parti. Nice sized bitch of good proportions. Good head and mouth. Moved well once she settled.

Chihuahua (Smooth Coat)

Puppy – (6, 3a)

1st – Frostick’s STANGHURST JORDAN INTO MARLUKENEY – 7 months old cream boy. I really liked this boy. A typical cheeky chihuahua. Good head properties and well made body. Looked lovely on the move maintaining a level top line and good overall profile. A little nervous on the table but with time and confidence I am sure that will rectify. BP

2nd – Slavinec’s MINX TIARA AT CHARONCHI – red sable bitch of 10 months. Another nice puppy. Good head and mouth. Moved with confidence and drive.

3rd – Murray’s DONATELLO SECRET OF ANGELS AT DAVIXITY (IMP SVK) naf taf

Junior – (5, 3a)

1st – Humphrey’s AMARANTOS BLUE MOON – blue fawn male of good size. Very typical chihuahua head. Correct mouth. Nice reach of neck. Sound mover. Lovely tail set and tail carriage. Was told later that day that this was his final JW point – congratulations to his owner.

2nd – Murray’s DAVIXITY GALORE JW – very pretty gold and white bitch. Very showy girl with lots to like. Very unfortunate to meet 1 today. Like her tail set and carriage. A lovely picture on the stand and when on the move.

Open – (7, 1a)

A lovely class full of quality exhibits who I am sure could change places on other days.

1st – Murray’s DAVIXITY NIJINSKY – black tri male of 3 years. A lovely boy who I have admired on many occasions. Nice small compact boy with good body proportions. A nice head with well placed ears and lovely expression. Correct length of muzzle. Good reach of neck into well laid shoulders. Really showed himself off on the move. Very attentive to his handler. BOB

2nd – Stangoe’s STANGHURST TIME TO SHINE – 2 year old cream bitch. A very nice example of the breed. Pleasing head, nice length of muzzle and good mouth. Smart mover. Would like to see her use her ears more to show off her expression.

3rd – Smith’s MOLTOBELLO MISS MYRTLE OF HULAWAWAS
