Thank you to the Secretary and committee for my invitation to judge Golden Retrievers. Thank you also to the exhibitors for your entries and accepting my placings. My stewards Elizabet and Grant worked very well together and kept the ring moving at good pace.

Golden Retriever Critiques

Puppy 10 (2a)

1 Phillips’ Shebelta Sweet Soul Music – Dog of 8 months old appearing mature for his age. Good pigmentation and nice shaped head, good neck flowing into a level topline. Set on tail with good fringing. Looking very balanced with good bone and moved well around the ring to win this lovely class of puppies. BP

2 Thomson’s Soneve Dreams are True – Bitch of 7 months old with nice height for a youngster but doesn’t take away the balance. Good pigmentation with sweet expression and correct head shape. Nice angles enough bone and neat feet. Coat and fringing will come in time.

Junior 5 (3A)

1 Trafford’s Astleyfold Spring Primrose – Bitch of 8 months old, unplaced In puppy. Good pigmentation and nice expression. Plenty of coat for a youngster with good feathering on the tail. Nicely balanced and moved well on neat feet.

2 Reid’s Sybiton Ginger Nut – Dog of 9 months old, unplaced in puppy. Good pigmentation and nice shaped head. Lacking of coat but I’m sure this will come with maturity. Preferred movement of 1.

Post Graduate 8 (3A)

1 Thomson’s Soneve Simply Sparkling – Bitch of 20 months old, Good pigmentation and eye creating a sweet expression. Good neck flowing into a level topline creating an overall balanced outline. Enough coat and feathering with good bone and neat feet. Best mover and handled well. BOB

2 Gannaway-Jones’ Scarisbrick Snowflake – Bitch of 22 months old, very good pigmentation and good eye, nice head on good neck and shoulder. Good coat and feathering, moved well although fidgety when standing.

Open 4 (1A)

1 Thomson’s Corsemaul I’m Staying JW – Dog of 3.5 years old. Pigmentation a little lacking but does not deter from it’s expression. Darker in colour, this boy has good angulation and level topline. Neat feet, in good condition and good feathering. Apparently a worker which showed it’s fitness in the ring by moving well. RBOB

      2 Trafford’s Wynrita Misti Daze at Astleyfold – Bitch of 4 years old, good pigmentation and nice head. Good balanced outline with enough bone and neat feet. Lacking in coat today but moved well.
