BEST IN SHOW was the stylish Pointer, PYTCHLEY CHASING THE DREAM FOR HOOKWOOD JW ShCM ShCEx with Reserve BIS going to the equally impressive Pomeranian CH SHARHAZLAH’S SUAVE DEVIL.
I felt that these two impressive dogs stood away in the line-up of Group winners and up until the final moment the decision could have gone either way. Both are exceptionally good examples of their breed, exuding type and absolute soundness both in construction and movement. Presented in tip-top condition, I was delighted to be able to judge them and wish them continued good fortune in their show careers.
Best Puppy in Show was a hard fought competition too, this time between 3 youngsters. The final victor was the ‘oh so stylish’ Staffordshire Bull terrier RAYNSTAFF OLD FASHIONED with the runner up being the lovely E.T.T. NASABE DON’T TELL HIM who just about did enough to beat another very exciting prospect in the English Springer Spaniel DEXBENELLA DOUBLE OH SEVEN (who was determined that it was NOT to be his day!). All 3 have beautiful heads and expressions and also so many other virtues and they impressed me greatly. I am absolutely positive that they will all make their mark in their respective breeds if they continue to mature and keep their mind on the job in hand. It was a pleasure to be able to judge them.
TOY GROUP
1. Pomeranian CH SHARHAZLAH’S SUAVE DEVIL.
2. E.T.T. CH WITCHSTONE MINNEHAHA. Pushing the winner all the way this excellent example just lost out in body condition to the exciting Pomeranian. I liked this one for her typical head and fabulous ears and her very correct top-line and movement and was not surprised to find out that she is a title holder. I was delighted to see that she has passed on many of her qualities to her son who went on to win Res BPIS!
3. Chinese Crested BE MY DOG’S TOPSAIL CODY OF ZANJERO JW. This youngster was one of my five selections for the JW Grand Final at Crufts in 2020 and he still impresses me now. He was unlucky to meet the two above in such form today. Full of breed type and moving with some style he must continue to do well.
4. JAPANESE Chin SANSARC ASHOKEN FAREWELL. A very raw baby at his first show but what a find! I loved his head shape and his clean and intelligent eye. He has a wonderful shape to him with perfect dentition and lovely feet. He moved a treat for one so young.
TOY PUPPY GROUP
1. E.T.T. NASABE DON’T TELL HIM, who nearly didn’t win this but suddenly got his mind on the job in hand and eventually performed like a veteran to out move the competition and win!
2. Japanese Chin SANSARC ASHOKEN FAREWELL.
3. Papillon BAILLION BOOGIE ALL NIGHT. I loved his well-placed and good sized ears, carried to perfection. He has a lovely eye and a superb temperament. He just needs to settle in profile but has time on his side.
AVNSC TOY
PUPPY (2,1)
1. NASABE DON’T TELL HIM
JUNIOR (4,3)
1. KENTWONE LIQUORICE FENNEL. Sm Coat Chihuahua. I really liked this youngster’s head and ears. He is good going away but needs to firm up in top-line and front action but has time on his side.
POST GRAD (6,5)
1. HAPPYPAWS KISS IN THE DARK. Coton de Tulear of quality. He has wonderful pigment and dark pads, a lovely intelligent expression and the correct top-line. There’s a lot of dog under the coat and today he pushed the ETT hard but just couldn’t quite match the action so had to settle for Reserve Best AVNSC.
OPEN (6,4)
1. CH WHITCHSTONE MINNEHAHA.
2. COTONTASTIK HERESHARLEY. Coton de Tulear. He’s a totally different type to his kennel mate and I thought that I would like just a touch more of him all through, particularly in fore-chest. He holds the correct top-line at all times and moved with style.
CHINESE CRESTED
JUNIOR (1)
1. DOLLONDAK EZUOJO ZHE. All male and very sound on the move in all directions, this juvenile is well-balanced throughout and with maturity should have an exciting future. Res BOB.
POST GRAD (1)
1. KEEP TRYING HEYBETT. Presented in good coat, this powder puff was just a touch too strong in head and not quite as balanced as I would like but he did move OK, however, I think that he could have made more use of his tail.
OPEN (2)
1. BE MY DOG’S TOPSAIL CODY OF ZANJERO JW.
2. PARCAUWEN CRAZY SECRET JEM AMONG MICHADAINE JW ShCM. Presented in good jacket, I just preferred the shoulders and the top-line of the winner. Ultra-feminine and with a lovely expression she moved true both ways.
JAPANESE CHIN
JUNIOR (1)
1. SANSARC ASHOKEN FAREWELL
PAPILLON
JUNIOR (1)
1. BAILLION BOOGIE ALL NIGHT. PG 3, BPIB & Res BOB.
OPEN (1)
1. INIXIA MOONLIGHT SHADOW. Very much the ‘girl’ and so feminine. She was totally at one with her handler and was presented in good jacket. I loved her ears and front and feet and she moved true. I would just prefer a touch more length of neck to complete the picture of total balance that I was looking for today.
POMERANIAN
JUNIOR (4)
1. SHARHAZLAH’S SON OF A DEVIL. I really fell for this youngster. I loved his head, excellent dentition, bone, front construction, ears and expression. In good jacket he totally out-moved the rest in the class. I see that he is a repeat mating of the BOB and he pushed hard for the top spot but had to settle for Reserve today but must surely have a very rosy future show career.
2. Sharhazlah devilish vixen. Another with perfect dentition and full of personality. She just needs to come up on leg to make the picture of total balance. She moved out with precision and stlye using her tail to maximum advantage.
3. SHARHAZLAH KAMIKAZI DEVIL.
OPEN (2)
1. CH SHARHAZLAH’S SUAVE DEVIL. Group 1, Res BIS.
2. SHARHAZLAH’S SON OF A DEVIL.
PUG
JUNIOR (1)
1. STANS CAMEO. A real juvenile here but with lots to like. He has a good mouth, a lovely shaped head and a clean and intelligent eye with super ears. He holds a decent top-line and is very good going away on the move but was just a touch too exuberant coming back and needs to settle down to complete the picture. BOB.
OPEN (3,2)
1. NIJACPUGS WRECK IT RALPH. Compact and sturdily built and moving OK, today, I just preferred the front of the youngster. Res BOB.
BULLDOG
JUNIOR (2,1)
1. SULLYBULLS STAN THE MAN AT GEENAWELL. This youngster has a lovely and typical top-line and a beautiful expression with great width to his front. He has sufficient depth, good bone and he moved OK. BOB.
POST GRAD (1)
1. ODINSCHILD VIOLET WARRIOR OF JRAYGON. All male with another decent top-line. He just was a little untidy on the move and I preferred the feet of the winner today. Res BOB.
A.V. VETERAN STAKES (20,4)
1. RALPH OF HOUSE NASH ShCEx. Norfolk Terrier. He is a totally captivating personality who never stopped showing and he made the most of himself on the move. He presents a picture of total balance with a firm top-line and excellent tail. In good jacket he could not be denied in very good company.
2. CH KOMIDION NIGHT MUSIC AT SAMETOVA ShCm ShCEx VW. Cesky Terrier. At 12 years she is quite something and her movement is a total joy. She has excellent extension and is totally balanced and she pushed the winner hard and is a credit to her owner.
ROSGAR AUTUMNAL BLISS, Golden Retriever.
