North of England Spaniel Club Open Show

20th November 2022

A pleasure to judge for this enthusiastic and friendly long standing society.

Best In Show from a strong line up was Hackett and Williams IWS Sh Ch Curlyco My Hot Rockstar. Reserve went to Pickering’s Clumber Wahnahnish Superman of Hajacan.

Best puppy in show brought some very promising youngsters forward and I awarded it to Thirlwell’s WSS Ferndel Watermark. Reserve to him was Chandler’s ESS Elazlan Tribal Craft.

Best Veteran in Show was Chandler’s WSS, Sh Ch Chanangel Sticky Wicket, reserve to Collins’ Cocker Cassom Sky Rocket at Candyke.

Puppy (2)

1 Hackett and Williams’ Malanis Belle at Foulby

10 months and full of joy and vigour. Balanced head with alert expression and kind eyes. Balanced in body and in super coat. Moved well here. A very promising youngster.

2 Foody’s Lospith Storms over Ciarteila

Another one with plenty to like. Lovely head with plenty of shape and well placed ears. Straight front leads to round feet. Good length of rib. Not as positive on the move as the winner.

Post Grad (1)

1 Foody’s Kendenner Louisa at Cairteila

Maturing well with lovely head showing good width to her skull and low set ears. Straight, well boned front, level topline and well-turned stifles. Moved well and carrying plenty of coat. RBOB.

Opne (3, 1abs)

1 Hackett and Williams’ Sh Ch Curlyco My Hot Rockstar

Mature male full of quality, in full coat and presented to advantage. Not surprised to see that he carries his title. Balanced head of good length. Strong neck leads to well-placed shoulders and well boned front. Well ribbed with short, level back and a good width to his quarters. He moved well here to win Best of Breed and pleased to award him Best In Show. A pleasure to judge.

2 Cunningham’s Foulby Fidelma of Elvandar

Rising 8 and enjoying her time in the ring. Best Veteran.

1 Wood’s Chanderhill Eagle Eye

Promising youngster with kind well shaped eyes, strong neck and straight front. Well bodied with good length and firm over the loins. Moderately angulated quarters. Moved well, Best of Breed.

Ellen Dobson Veteran Stakes (5)

1 Chandler’s WSS Sh Ch Chanangel Sticky Wicket

Ten year old looking so well for his age, presented in first class coat and condition and retaining his rich red colour. Worthy Champion with lovely head and a well-proportioned body. Good angulation fore and rear. A credit to his owners.

2 Rainey’s Cocker Kisscan In It To Win It

Well-presented 8 year old, looking so well, and belying her age. Balanced head with good neck and well ribbed. In lovely coat.

3 Proudler’s Cocker Kimapa Krazee Kritter

Minor Puppy (2,1)

1 Thirlwell’s WSS Ferndel Water Stone

Quality youngster. Lovely type and showing plenty of enthusiasm. Good head with kind dark eyes. Clean neck of good length leading to well angulated shoulders. Plenty of body for his age, Should go on to do well.

Puppy (5,3)

1 Ritchie’s WSS Renascent Bleaberry at Slapestones

10 months and lovely over all. Well shaped head, nicely put together, all unexaggerated. In good body and condition. Moved well showing drive and extension.

2 Bayliss’ Cocker Shirepark Sir Francis Darke by Wilanorah

11 months and well turned out in good coat. Well-developed ribs and firm over the loins. Good width over the quarters.

Junior (5,2)

1 Calvert’s ESS Calvdale Ever Thus

Clean in out line and presented to advantage in lovely coat for 17 months. Well shaped head with well boned straight front and super feet. Well-turned stifles. Moved with extension, holding the topline well.

2 Pickering’s Clumber Wymeswold Verdejo at Greencourt

16 months and coming along nicely. Balanced head. Straight front of good width and well-rounded feet. Well ribbed with good length of body. Moved steadily.

Awarded this one a RCC recently and RBIS today! Good young D with lots to like, well shaped head with good width and well placed ears. Well-constructed through with well angulated shoulders and well-turned stifles. In good body and condition. Moved well.

2 Palmer’s Cocker Cassom Sun Dreaming Over Colmeir

Attractive three-year-old moving well here. Balanced through with good set on of tail and good feet. In good body and coat, well presented.

1 Mowbray’s Sussex Gainsmill Lilly Luna Potter at Crumbledor

Three year old maturing well and in good coat. Well shaped head. Striaght, well boned front. Good length of rib. Moved well to take this class and the open Stakes.

2 Proudler’s Cocker Kimapa Kinda Krazee

Veteran b/r in really good condition for 12 years old. Moved freely and showed a positive disposition. Living up to her name.
