I would like to thank the committee of the Cheltenham & District Canine Society for their kind invitation to judge at this well run and supported show. Special thanks go to the exhibitors of Golden Retrievers, as I was a very last-minute change of judge for them. But to all the exhibitors, it was a real pleasure to have the opportunity to judge your lovely dogs

What a super start to the day. Lovely class of youngsters.

1. Mrs Jackson-Haines - Leighsham Chantilly

Beautiful 11 month old pale bitch. She caught my eye for her lovely balance, presenting such a pleasing outline on the stack. Nothing is out of place, each part seamlessly flowing into the next. Quality all through with so much promise. Pretty feminine head, showing good balance and with soulful dark eyes with a soft expression. Her clean neck flowing into a firm and well held topline. Deep in the brisket and well developed in forechest. Standing on well boned limbs and tight feet. Moving out with positive footfall and at one with her handler. Beautifully presented and handled - BPB

2. Dr & Mrs Pickup - Blenstone Yellow Topaz

A real babe this 8 month old pale bitch was enjoying her day, not quite the finish of winner today, but with so much to admire. Thought her to be slightly more compact, with super substance. Lovely feminine head, which is well proportioned, nicely chiselled and melting expression. Good depth of chest and spring to the ribcage. Well boned and tight feet. Liked her width of thigh and bend of stifle. Moving out with good drive

3. Miss James - Tsarmont Starlet

1. Mrs & Miss Ives - Balsamina Bellini

A slightly smaller frame to this 15 month old bitch, but loved her overall balance and proportions. Standing, her body lines are flowing and feminine. Pleasing head with a good length to the foreface, well chiselled, and kind dark eye to give a gentle expression. Good length of neck, well developed through the ribcage and elbows tight to the body. She holds her firm topline both stood and on the move, with a well carried tail. Moving with correct footfall

2. Mr & Miss McNeish - Drumkilty Toodle Pip

Pleasing 16 month old bitch, just needing time to finish filling her frame. Showing good overall balance, with lovely bone. Feminine head and melting expression. Good length of neck, flowing into a firm topline. Enough depth to the brisket, not quite the forechest of winner. Strong hindquarters, with a good width of thigh and well turned stifle. Moving out steadily for her young charge

1. Mr & Mrs Wooden - Catenae Candy Floss At Salako

Fell for this 19 month old pale bitch, who seemed to find it highly amusing to be a muppet, but loved her for it! So smart in her overall balance and construction, symmetry giving lovely body lines, along with strength and femininity. Quality head piece, with good width to the back skull, strength, and depth to the foreface, nicely chiselled under the eyes, which are a beautiful dark brown, with the darkest pigmentation all giving such a soft expression. Clean neck of good length, well placed shoulders, into a firm topline and tail set. She has pleasing depth to the rib cage and well developed in forechest. Standing fore square on well boned limbs and cat like feet. Strong hindquarters which she did put to good use when she settled, showing to be true and happy in her action, driving from the rear. Well presented in good coat - BB

2. Mrs Nelson - Cadwst Eternal Flame

Lovely profile to this 2 year old mid gold bitch, balanced and unexaggerated. She has a flow from nose to tail. Pleasing head, which is balanced in proportions, with kind expressive eyes. Good length of neck, firm topline which is held both stood and on the move. Chest is down to the elbows, not quite the forechest of winner. Quality bone and well rounded feet. Strong hindquarters, along with a good bend of stifle. Moved out purposefully and at one with her handler

1. Mr & Mrs Hush - Benrowan Esprit

Most appealing darker gold bitch, in her prime at 4 years of age. Very honest and balanced, clean in her outline as she stands fore square and displaying harmonious proportions. She has the most feminine of heads, and gentle in her expression. Well developed in forechest, with the ribcage down to the elbow. Strong and firm topline which was held at all times. Good width of thigh, which was put to good use to drive around the ring, not quite as clean in front today. Works in harmony with her handler

2. Mrs Falconer - Rossgilde My Fair Lady of Siatham JW

3 year old pale bitch, pleasing in her overall body proportions. Feminine head, with a soft dark eye. Clean neck flowing into a firm topline. Enough depth and forechest with well sprung ribs. Lovely hindquarters, showing good width and well let down hocks. Holds her outline on the move, just not quite the coordination of winner today

Puppy (7,3)

1. Mr & Mrs Challis - Vizslanya Csibe JW

Beautifully balanced and unexaggerated 11 month old bitch, everything just right for her age. When stacked she has good body proportions and sound in her construction. Feminine head, with correct ratios, eye toning well with the coat, showing a median line. Her clean neck is of good length and shows the slight arch. Good depth to the brisket, with a firm topline and short strong loin. She puts her hindquarters to good use on the move, as she flows around the ring with correct footfall and lovely drive – BP

2. Ms Bradley - Highforce All Or Nothing

There is so much to like on this 11 month old dog, who has done all his growing and now just needs to finish filling his frame to complete the picture. Lovely masculine head, lean and well chiselled, eye toning with coat. Good length of neck, with enough depth of brisket, ribs nicely sprung. Forelegs straight and close fitting elbows, with well boned limbs onto lovely cat like feet. Holding a firm topline, liked his width of thigh which were well muscled. A powerful and precise mover

1. Mr & Mrs Harrison - Glenbrows By Design

Very smart 15 month old dog, looked an absolute picture on the stack. From a smaller mould, but all dog, and so well put together. He has a superior air about him, so shows himself off to advantage. Having a masculine and balanced head with the correct proportions, lovely toning oval shaped eye to give a gentle and inquisitive expression. Clean neck with a slight arch flowing seamlessly into a firm short level topline. Lovely depth to the brisket and well developed in forechest. Well boned limbs and strong pasterns. Hindquarters show a good width of thigh. On the move looked a picture in profile, not as tidy when coming towards you, super drive, and precision behind - RBOB

Lovely 15 month old bitch, with lots to like. She is of a nice overall size and stamp, being balanced and unexaggerated. Pretty head and kind expression. Good length of neck showing a slight arch. Holding a firm and level topline, good depth to the brisket and well developed in forechest, moderate rear angulation. Standing on lovely cat like feet. Moving out sounding with good parallel width behind, just not the drive today of winners.

Very smart, 2 year old bitch, well balanced and shapely. She has lovely body lines, feminine and unexaggerated. Nicely proportioned head piece, being lean and noble, lovely kind eye, with the desired median line. Her clean neck is of good length and flows seamlessly into a firm and level topline, finishing with the correct tail set and carriage. Brisket is down to the elbow, with a well developed forechest. Strong hindquarters with a good width of thigh. Lovely to watch on the move, not putting a foot wrong. Clean and precise in her footfall – BOB, shortlisted in group

2. Hardcastle & Bradley - Vizslanya Sziena JW

Another super bitch, close up to winner with so much to admire, just didn’t seem as settled on the move today, which was a shame. She is full of quality and very pleasing to the eye with her shapely outline. Such a gentle expression from her dark eyes. Flowing from nose to tail, with lovely depth to the brisket, firm topline and short coupled. Muscular hindquarters with a nice sweep of stifle, standing on well arched toes. She has a ground covering action, just not as tidy behind today, but showed drive

1. Miss Bellamy - Moontorn Better Half of Me

11 month old bitch, showing lots of character and promise. Typical in her demeanour, exuberant and full of beans, just loved her. Her outline when stood is balanced and shapely. She has a pleasing head piece, lovely dark eye, kind and slightly mischievous. She has a flow from nose to tail. Good length of neck, deep in brisket, firm topline with well boned limbs. Her hindquarters show a good width of thigh. On the move she holds her shape and is true in her action. BP & Puppy Gp4

2. Mrs Stevenson - Feldkirk Rose N Roses

Another pleasing youngster, not quite the development in body as yet of winner, but she is only 6 months old. A really sweet babe. Not fazed by anything. Lovely head, such a gentle expression from those dark eyes. A little raw through the body as you would expect at this age, but everything is in the right place. Good length of neck, firm topline, with a well bent stifle. A little loose in her movement fore and aft, showing lovely drive in profile

16 month old black dog, who has impressive outline when stood. No mistaking his gender, he is all male, having strength but in no way overdone. Masculine head, with a kind dark eye. Super depth and spring to the ribcage. Well boned limbs, feet a little flat. Strong and muscular hindquarters. A happy chap on the move but today not really showing drive from behind. Shown in good coat and condition.

1. Ms Pingree - Calzeat Gentlemans Agreement To Heatheridge JW (imp Swe)

Very smart 3 year old black dog, his body lines are graceful but with strength, and he let his presence be known! Lovely dog who stands fore square with good body proportions, giving balance and a stamp of quality. He has an attractive and well moulded head, gentle dark eye with well set on neat ears. His neck flows seamlessly into a firm and well held topline. Liked his depth and development of forechest. Standing on well boned limbs and well knuckled feet. Strong and muscular hindquarters, with a good width of thigh. Moved with enthusiasm and pizzazz, carried his tail a little fraction higher. Shown in gleaming coat – BOB & Group 4

Keen and alert 4 year old black bitch, showing herself off with enthusiasm. Feminine all through and of a nice size. Lovely moulded head and kind expression. Good depth to the brisket and well developed forechest. Holding a firm topline both stood and on the move. Strong hindquarters, use to drive around the ring, just not as clean in her front action today. At one with her handler

1. Ms Pingree - Castlerock Burning Love To Heatheridge JW

Fully mature and looking in fine fettle, this black dog may be coming up 7 years of age but no one told him. He has a shapely silhouette, having a pleasing amount of bone and substance, with nothing overdone. Handsome one piece head, with kind dark eye. Having a neck of good length, flowing well into his firm topline. Chest is well let down with the correct spring to the ribcage and short strong loin. Strong muscular rear. Shown in full bloom and moving out soundly, just today could not match the drive of his kennel mate, and had to settle for RBOB

2. Mr & Mrs Goodman - Blacklake Cordelia

What a delightful 8 year old bitch, she just loved to smile, give kisses, and full of the joys of spring. She is of a nice overall size and shows good balance. Pleasing feminine head and dark kind eye. Good length of neck flowing into a firm topline. Brisket down to the elbow and standing on well boned limbs. She moved out with enthusiasm but not quite the precision of winner today.

Really smart 4 year old red dog, who looked an absolute picture on the stack, strong and compact in his outline, keen and alert in his demeanour. Masculine head, with slight rounding and width to the backskull, strength to the foreface, dark eye kind eye. Strong neck flowing well into a firm and well held topline, super ribcage and forechest. Muscular hindquarters with good width of thigh. Strode out on the move, holding his outline and showing himself off to advantage. Shown with a hard jacket and well presented – BOB

Happy and outgoing 4 year old B&T bitch, who showed herself with confidence. Feminine head of good proportions, lovely dark expressive eyes, and neat well used ears. Well bodied, with a good ribcage and depth. Forelegs straight onto neat feet. Moved out purposefully and at one with her handler. Shown with a harsh coat - RBOB

2. Mrs Price - Umbrage Red Van

21 month old red bitch, nice overall shape but not showing herself off. Pleasing head, with good width to the backskull, well defined stop and strength to the foreface. Her dark eyes give an intelligent and gentle expression. Strong neck flowing into a firm topline, a fraction longer in body. Nicely angulated fore and aft. A little flat on the move.

Eye catching 6 year old B&T dog, who let his presence be known. He has a keen and alert attitude and stands proud. He has a balanced head piece of the correct proportions, good stop and dark eye giving a keen expression. Harmonious in his angulation fore and aft. A fraction longer in body but lovely depth to the brisket and good spring to the ribcage. Well boned with neat feet. Moving out with correct footfall and driving from the rear - BOB

2. Miss Knapp - Kinsridge Caribbean Queen

2 year old red bitch, liked her overall size, balanced in her head proportions, with a lovely kind dark eye and good stop. She is nicely angulated fore and aft, tending to lose her topline today. Good width of thigh. Not showing herself off to advantage on the move, but was true in her action
