Pointer

Puppy 1/1

1) Booth - Lundgarth Everest b 9mths O/W Stood alone but a lovely quality puppy.

Nicely balanced overall, correct size, feminine. Very nice head qualities Good head planes giving the correct shape face but not exaggerated in anyway. Raw in the body but balanced.

Moved parallel going out and back and moved with reach in profile. Tail carried well and lashing action developing nicely. BP and PG2

Junior3/3

1) Booth - Lundgarth Everest

2) Collins - Collholme Balthasar d 15 mths O/w Youngster I’ve seen before last year. Filled out a lot and a much more mature dog. Still young but head qualities good, strong but not in anyway coarse. Ribs going well back. Movement very good and much more confident.

Post Graduate 4/1a

1) Collins – Collholme Angelique b 15 mths O/W Well this young lady, sister to 2nd in Junior, has improved a lot from the steadiness point of view. She wouldn’t stand still last time. But this time well 10/10. Elegant head piece, kind intelligent expression good pigment. Bodied up a lot and is well balanced. Good spring of rib, good return of upper arm. Good feet and hindquarters. She moved very well. Much more confident now. Pushed very hard for BOB

So pleased to see these two again and see their progress.

2) Weaver – Dappeline Chance for Anniezu d 2 yo O/W They say dogs have the terrible 2s and this lad is a handful. Handler did well. But what great enthusiasm he has, and he covered the ground well. Correctly assembled front. Good bone and feet. He is a bit all over the place when he moves but he’s a teenager in his head so getting him to trot was an achievement. Well done.

Open 3/1a

1) Bond – Joneva Just My Style d 2 yo B/W What can I say. Couldn’t take my eyes off this very glamorous chap. But he’s not a case of style without substance. Coat is fantastic condition. Beautiful head, nicely chiselled, eye shape giving kind intelligent expression. Ear leathers fine and well-shaped. Strong elegant neck into well laid shoulders flowing into a lovely topline. Plenty of heart and lung room, good bone and feet. Ribs going well back, something some males lacked. Very well-muscled hindquarters. So moved just the way I like showing his stamina power and drive. Smashing dog BOB and G2

2) Astbury - Penwest Photo Finish for Dorbury d 3 ½ yo O/W Strong head, good pigment, kind expression. Tall rangy dog with good angled front and same behind. The height to length ratio could be better but he moved well though at a disadvantage being on such a slope.

Retriever(Flat Coated)

Post Graduate 2/1a

1) Salt - Levelmoor Blackadder 3yo b Long moulded head, intelligent expression, nice small ears. Well laid shoulders and good topline. Well done on chest and bone and feet. Moderately angled rear end and well set tail Moved out well and in profile very good reach and carried tail very well.

Open 3/3

1) Romeo-Dieste - Hopevalley Morning Rainbow JW 4yo b Cracking youngster now in maturity. Judged her before an absolutely fell in love. Super chiselled wedge of a head excellent eye shape and ear set. Quality throughout. Excellent front assembly with the right spring of rib and short square loin. Strong hindquarters well angled stifles. Moved very positively elegantly but with drive. I thought all the Flatcoats entered moved well. BOB

2) Mantle - Almanza Ain’t Nobody’s Business at Rheiwvalley (Imp Swe) 4 ½ yo b Slightly bigger than the first place but an elegant moderate girl. Good head shape and strong neck. Well off for chest and nice front. Longer cast to compliment size but very correct topline and strong hindquarters. Again moved well and carried her tail correctly.

Retriever (Golden)

Junior 1/1

1) Gannaway- Jones – Scarisbrick Snowflake 13 mths b What a gentle soul she is. First time out I think she handled it all well. Nicely balanced head, skull and foreface good. Good pigment eye shape and ears well set. Strong neck but not overdone. Front well-constructed and good bone excellent feet. Well off for ribs and strong short loin. Good width of thigh and well carried tail. Moved with confidence considering so a well-deserved first and BOB

Retriever (Labrador)

Puppy 3/2a

1) Thompson - Meadowline Mogul 9m b Yell Cracking youngster. Absolutely loved her head. Broad skull well defined stop, very neat and clean. Lovely eye and expression. Good pigment. Lovely flow from neck to shoulders to croup. Moved well. BP

Junior 4/1a

1) Potter - Harrop Pick Pocket d 15m Really liked this boy. Stood four square with a good head carriage and length of neck to body to legs a very nice ratio. Nice clean strong head but not over done; moderate. Good forequarters well laid shoulders and straight well boned legs. Muscular clean moderately angulated hindquarters with a nice otter tail well carried on the move and standing. Moved well fore & aft and covering ground in profile. Look forward to seeing his progress.

2) Hutchinson - Glosmere Ragamuffin d 16m Different type to 1 much more cobby and more mature perhaps. Good head piece and nicely angulated forequarters and hindquarters. Heavier in the body but moved well.

Special Yearling 4/1a

1) Williams - Dowen Captain Jack d 15m Very mature dog with a good broad skull and strong foreface but not coarse at all; very clean. Strong neck and shoulders, well sprung rib cage, and strong hindquarters. Moved well when he settled. Presented nicely.

2) Potter - Harrop Pick Pocket

Post Graduate 6/6

1) Long - Carpenny Pheya b 4yo I got very excited when I saw this one. Very very balanced overall. Stood four square over her ground. Textbook head with an intelligent kind expression never taking her eyes off her handler. Very well presented in excellent coat.

Excellent bone and well sprung ribs and short firm loin. Super topline which she keeps on the move. A quality bitch from a quality kennel I was delighted to see when I saw the catalogue later. BOB G4

2) Gower - Aughton Chase Honey Pie b 2 ½ yo Very nice type. Fit for Function. Nicely moulded head. Kind intelligent expression and another that is at one with her handler. I bet she keeps you on your toes. A pleasure to go over. Loved her ratios and leg length and muscle. Super neck. Excellent topline and tail set.

Open 8/2a

1) Thompson - Meadowline Me Chico d 6 ½ yo Upstanding dog well balanced and covers the ground well. Sire of the nice puppy. Good headpiece and strong neck though might have liked a bit more. Nicely angulated front well sprung ribs and good strong hindquarters.

Just preferred the bitch from PG in the challenge.

2) Hutchinson - Glosmere Ragamuffin as before

Retriever (Nova Scotia Duck Tolling)

Junior 3/1a

1) Greenwood - Coedhelyg Ho Ho Ho b 15m Refined head clean and almost wedge shaped. Good eye shape and flat cheeks. Long elegant neck into well laid shoulders and straight front. Very good hindquarters just needing the topline to settle. Carried her well set tail well. Hopefully will carry on and mature nicely.

2) Brand - Coedhelyg Jingle All The Way d 15m Litter brother to 1 so similar comments just a bit more of him which was correct. He paced a bit so difficult to assess movement even though I let them a run a couple of times. He was a bit of a fidget too so maybe with some training and practise he’ll be good. Keep doing it, you’ll get there.

Post Graduate 5/2a

1) Morse - Eusanit Celtic Sea b 2yo Couldn’t really put a foot wrong. Lovely type a quality bitch beautifully presented and handled. Well balanced. Right size for a female. Clean sculpted head with lovely almond eyes. Excellent shoulders and well dropped chest. Ribs going well back nice rear end with correctly feathered and carried tail. Moved like a dream really. BOB

Open 1/1a

Spaniel (Field)

A breed I absolutely love! Only 2 present but we had fun!

Post Graduate 2/1a

1) Moore – Gadhelic Jennyanydots b 2 ½ yo Liver Totally balanced overall. Elegant but strong. Noble clean well chiselled head, kind soft expression, intelligent eye. Neck body and leg ratio all good. Good length of back and moderately angulated hindquarters. Moved sound as a bell. Didn’t put a foot wrong.

Open 2/1a

1) Shipton - Broomeece Firecracker over Mishules d 2 ½ yo Black but not just black but glossy shiny fabulously presented boy. Excellent masculine head. Just love the bone and feet on a nice Field and he had that. Powerful dog which he showed when moved because somewhere around there was a bitch in season so the poor boy was totally discombobulated. I took several photos just to get him in profile for my write up. In the end BOB went to the bitch but not for wanting anything structurally from him.

Spaniel (Welsh Springer)

Post graduate 1/1a

Open 1/1

1) Philipson - Menstonia Meteor d 4yo Well balanced boy with a good flow from his neck through his topline into his croup. Head was just lovely. So nice to see a correct head with nothing overdone. Good proportions and not heavy or jowly. Clean nicely chiselled. Elegant but strong neck. Well laid shoulders nice body not weak but full and strong without heaviness. A very fit dog. Coat is excellent condition and well groomed. Moved or rather flowed around the ring covering the ground. BOB well deserved.
