Thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge at this lovely show and to the exhibitors for a fabulous quality entry and giving me the opportunity to judge your hounds.  The show was very busy and my sincere personal thanks to my stewards, Jo Ryan and Lesley Elliott, for keeping me on track.

Post Graduate (2)

1st    Addis’ BUBAS JUNO OVER SAVANNASTORM

Smart quality bitch. Well shaped head with a soft expression and good wrinkles.  Nice angulation and moved out well once settled.  RBOB

2nd    Savage’s CHAGMAS CHRISTMAS GYPSY GHOST FOR AXMIXA (IMP NOR)

Nice overall quality bitch, well balanced. Nicely shaped head but a good tailset. Moved well, but preferred the precision of 1st.

1st    Nash’s CH TOKAJI MOON OVER MIAMI WITH MUTOKO JW

Very smart bitch presented in good condition.  Good head with lovely expression, nice chiselling with correct ear set and wrinkles.  Super feet and nicely balanced fore and aft.  Lovely movement and side gait showing drive. BOB

2nd    Savage’s CHAGMAS HEY JOE AVEC AXMIXA (IMP NOR)

Well bodied mature dog.  Quality, nicely wrinkled head with good ear set and wrinkle. Nice feet.  Balanced throughout and moved well.

1st     Allenby’s RUBIS DU DOMAINE D’ASGARD AVEC RANGALI

Stood alone but didn’t distract from the quality of this happy 19mth old bitch.  Shown in excellent coat and body condition.  Nice head giving correct expression with good ear set.  Lovely lay of shoulder, with correct shape and depth to body.  Good rear and tailset.  Moved well. BOB

1st    Knowles & Metselaar-Williams’ STINTON SOLITAIRE AVEC BRAILLEMENT

Super young boy but not being the most cooperative but when he settled he moved out nicely with a good topline.  Lovely head with good ears, good length to body and well ribbed.  Nicely boned and super feet. RBOB BP

1st    Knowles’ ARAPELO ETOILE AVEC BRAILLEMENT

Lovely correct masculine head with correct ears with good fold and large dark eye.  Well balanced and moved out well.  Nice depth developing, well ribbed and good bone and feet.  Well set stern.  Correct coat. BOB

1st     Simms’ AFTONLEE AROS

Very smart young man at just 6mths, moved out well and seemed to be enjoying his day. Lovely expression coming from correct head shape good set of eyes  and ears.  Nice balanced outline with good front and rear standing on correct feet.  Good tail set and carriage. BP.  HPG3

Junior (3)

1st    Maun’s BOWERHINTON BRIGTH LADY

Super young girl who stood out.  Lovely colouring and presented in super condition.  Great movement coming from lovely balanced angulation.  Nice length of ribbing and overall excellent shape.  Correct wedge-shaped head with good ear size.  Will watch her with interest.  RBOB

2nd    Clarke’s GRAYTHOR COSMOPOLITAN

Lovely young male of good outline and very balanced throughout with good square shaped body.  Handsome correct head with good eye and ear set.  Moved out well with good profile action but felt he needed a bigger ring to show his fore and aft.

1st    Cowper & Bingham’s KESTOS REX OF ROTHENBORG

This male encapsulates my understanding of the breed.  Beautiful masculine head of correct shape and proportions.  Correct eye and ear set.  Balanced body of correct depth, nice ribbing and coupling giving correct shape.  Super tail set and carriage.  Moderate angulation, good bone onto tight oval feet.  Superb free, easy movement. Presented in lovely condition, good coat showing correct markings.  BOB, HG1 and delighted he was awarded RBIS

2nd    Maun’s CH BOWERHINTON BASSANIO

Another handsome male full of breed type with many of the same qualities as first.  Beautiful headpiece, lovely markings highlighting good eye and ear set.  Lovely shape with correct proportions and angulation.  Good tail set and carriage.  Shown in beautiful coat.  Moved out well,  with good side gait and maintaining topline.

1st    Allenby’s SOLETRADER FUN TIMES FOR RANGALI

PBGV. Such an exciting young bitch, whose excellent confirmation is reflected in her lovely correct movement showing reach and drive that belies her 6mths.  Beautiful correct head giving lovely expression from correct eyes and low set ears.  Good neck leading to excellent front angulation with balanced rear.  Body of good proportions for age, good tail carriage.  Will watch her with interest.  Pleased to award her BestAVNSC, BP, HG2 and HPG1.

2nd    Harrison-Stratford’s SOUTHPOINT LADY LOKI NAF (IMP PRT)

Greyhound. Beautifully feminine throughout and developing nicely at 9 mths.head.  Long neck leading to lovely front angulation, good pasterns and feet.  Correct length of rib to loin and powerful hindquarters.  Despite the small ring moved with reach and drive.

1st    Adams’ SONHAM PADDINGTON JW

Dachshund (W-H) Lovely boy who headed a good class.  Correct head full with good eye and ear set. Strong neck leading to lovely front, strong keel and good feet.  Well-ribbed with good topline.  Strong hind-quarters and moved out true showing reach and drive.

2nd    Dickinson’s DERDLEDASH NAUGHTY NEPTUNE

Dachshund (W-H)  Giving a bit away on maturity but good head with correct dark eye, good ear set, balanced angulation and good keel.  Good topline and well-ribbed.  Movement true and sound.

A difficult class as a few lovely exhibits were not co-operating.

Dachshund (W-H) B. Very smart with a lovely expression.  Good head and eye.  Long neck leading to good front and keel.  Good length and depth to body presenting a nice shape.  Good hind-quarters and tail carriage.   Ground covering movement without exaggerations.  Res.BestAVNSC

2nd    Wedge’s DOLAN DOCK OF THE BAY

Dachshund (L-H) Lovely red dog presented in gleaming coat.  Handsome head of good shape with lovely kind eye. Nice front angulation and correct fore chest.  Lovely body proportions and good loin.  Well developed rear angulation and moved with drive and purpose.

Dachshund (W-H) Very smart 3yr old bitch with good expression.  Lovely head with nice dark eye.  Strong neck leading to good body shape and well ribbed back.   Balanced angulation giving positive easy movement.

B&T Coonhound.  Beautiful young bitch, feminine head of good shape and good ear set falling nicely.  Good neck with lovely front assembly.  Good shape and depth through the body, good tail set.  Moved out well showing reach and drive once she found her stride.  RBImport

2nd    Smith’s COVEHITHE BIG HUNK O LOVE

B&T Coonhound.  Lovely masculine hound with typical head and good ear carriage.  Strong through the body, good coupling.  Lovely front, good feet, balanced rear.  Moved well but felt he needed more space to come into his own.

1st    Stanley’s COVEHITHE STEAM BOAT WILLY

B&T Coonhound.  First and second our litter brothers.  Both are beautiful stallion hounds with little to choose between them.  Super head with good eye shape and low set ears falling into folds. Strong neck leading to well laid shoulder, nice depth to chest.  Good body shape, strength through the loin and good topline.  Good bone, standing on correct feet. Good rear angulation and tail carriage.  Moved with reach and drive showing a lovely stride.  Pleased to award him Best Import and HG4.  

2nd    Binnersley & Tomkinson’s COVEHITHE DUKE OF HAZZARD

B&T Coonhound.  Many of the same attributes as his brother - super head, good ears.  Lovely neck, balanced front and rear angulation with lovely shaped strong body.  Nicely muscled, good feet and pasterns. Moved out well but not the stride of 1st in this setting.

1st    Wayman’s SPEYMALT NORTHERN STAR JW

Whippet.  Handsome 8yr old presented beautifully.  True head with good ear set and size.  Lovely neck leading good front angulation.  Standing on super feet, good shape all through and still maintaining his topline.  Correct rear angulation giving true movement fore and aft and super side gait.

2nd    Baldwin’s AVENTINE SCOTTS BLUFF

Dachshund (W-H). Lovely male with super expression from good head shape. In lovely coat, balanced angulation, nice body throughout with good keel and level topline.  True movement showing drive.

1st    Webber’s DENIMBLUE WILLDO

Whippet.  Larger stamp blue boy, presented in hard condition.  Masculine head with correct eye and ear placement.  Presented a lovely shape coming from good angulation and nice off the croup.  Excellent feet.  Moved out well, covering the ground and showing reach and drive.  HPG4

A lovely male who I have admired ringside but never judged, and he didn’t disappoint.  Masculine head of correct proportions giving lovely typical expression.  Good neck leading to lovely shoulder placement, well boned standing on good feet.  Correct depth and length to body, well developed hind-quarters.  Correct stern and carriage.  Moved out beautifully with reach and drive in an easy action.

Lovely balanced girl with feminine head of good proportions.
