Border Counties Hound Club – Open Show

Firstly, I would like to thank the committee of The Border Counties Hound Club for inviting me to judge the whippets at their open show. I would also like to thank all exhibitors who entered and stayed on to show their dogs under me despite it pouring it down with rain and being so late in the day. The weather was far from ideal showing conditions, it showed in some exhibits however, they did their best.

Puppy (6,2)

1 Dillon & Bailey’s, Dreamjet Float my Boat at Runforest, Fawn and white parti dog of 9 months old. Nice puppy, pleasant masculine head, good length of neck into correct lay of shoulder, nice overall topline. Good spring of pastern, neat feet, nice rear assembly with well let down hocks. Good muscle tone in the rear which he used in his movement. One of the best movers on the day with plenty of reach in front (BP).

2 Chaytor’s Ramita’s Belle of the Ball. Fawn brindle bitch puppy of 9 months old. Nice sized, shapely feminine girl with a kind expression. Good fill in front, and definite tuck up. Shown in good condition, neat feet, coat was lovely to go over, moved out well in profile. Just preferred the rear angulation of 1 and would have preferred her tail carriage to be a tad lower on the move but she is a happy puppy.

4 Higginbottom’s Dizzy Bear at Dawnsafon

Special yearling (5,3)

1 Newton’s Nevedith El Ite, Black brindle bitch of 17 months. Nice feminine head with a kind expression, strong jaw, good length of neck into well laid back shoulders. Plenty fill in front and deep brisket for her age. Enough muscle tone in the rear and plenty width between the thighs. Moved out well in profile with plenty of reach in front, true coming and going.

2 Paipala & Winup’s Rogansrock Harvest Moon, Fawn Brindle male of 21 months, nice masculine head and expression. Lovely shapely dog with ample rise over the loin and tuck up. Good hindquarters with nice amount of muscle tone. Moved out ok in profile, his fore chest just not as developed as 1.

Novice (4,1)

1 Bower’s Saraquele Smooth as Silk, Lovely sized fawn bitch of 16 months old. Liked the overall picture of this bitch and she held herself well despite the rain, pleasant head and eye, good length of neck into well laid shoulders. Good front and depth of chest. Nice shapely topline with enough rise over the loin and definite tuck up. Good hind angulation and well let down hocks. Moved out well, nice free, easy movement, true coming and going. (BOB)

2 Dillon & Bailey’s Dreamjet float my Boat at Runforest. Winner of Puppy, just lost out to one as still got that immaturity in the body which will come as he matures.

3 Higginbottom’s Dizzy Bear at Dawnsafon

Post Graduate (3,1)

1 Brew’s Palmik Sir Percival, Fawn parti dog of 22 months. Masculine dog, nice head and expression. Nice front assembly, deep brisket, ribs well sprung with plenty of heart room. Nice overall topline, with a gentle rise over the loin, it was a pity he was carrying a touch too much weight which didn’t give him a cleaner S underline. Good hindquarters, with plenty of muscle, moved out well.

2 Paipala & Winup’s Pagarni it’s Snow Joke Cum Rogansrock, Fawn brindle of 2.5years old. Nice feminine bitch, pleasing head and expression. Good length of neck, into well set shoulders. Nice overall topline, with a definite tuck up. Shown in lovely coat condition and neat feet. Moved ok, not a true coming and going as 1.

Open Dog (1,0)

1 Webb’s Crosscrop Shadow Dancing, fawn brindle of 3 years old. Masculine dog, nice for size, shown in good condition. Pleasing head, nice eye, good length of neck into shoulders. Good depth of chest with plenty of heart room. Good spring of pasterns in front and neat feet. Topline has a gently curve over the loin and definite tuck up. Nice rear angulation, well let down hocks and good amount of muscle tone. Moved out well in profile.

Open Bitch (4,2)

1 Allen’s Lolani Mocha Martini at Zoraden, red fawn bitch of 17 months. I liked this bitch, and it was close for BOB but I feel that she wasn’t happy getting wet by the rain which just didn’t do her justice on this day unfortunately. Lovely feminine bitch of a nice size, pleasing head and expression, tidy ears, good length of neck into well laid back shoulders. Really nice in front and good depth chest with plenty of heart room and good spring of rib. Good hind angulation and just enough muscle. Free easy on the move holding her topline, true coming and going.

2 Paipala & Winup’s Pagarni , Rogansrock Love Me Do, fawn brindle bitch of 2 years old. Different type to 1, bigger in size but still in proportion for her build. Nice alert expression and eyes, good length of neck into her shoulders. Lovely rise over the loin and definite tuck up. Good rear angulation and well let down hocks. Plenty of muscle tone, shown in great condition. Moved out well in profile.
