Thank you for the generous and supportive way my results were taken. I had some lovely exhibits, and we were lucky that the day allowed a lovely sunny day to enable them to move well outside in our large ring. I must thank my lovely steward, Sharon Barkley for keeping the ring moving smoothly, it is always a lovely day when you have a good steward with you.

Good spring of rib, depth and correct length, shoulders nicely sloped set on well from a muscular neck. Nice head, balanced throughout with roundness across skull with defined eyebrows. Correct eye shape and colour giving the look of alertness, enjoying his day. BP AVNSC Gundog Puppy Group 3

Post Grad 3

1st Moon Deanway Proper Charlie – Sussex – my notes start with ‘Full of breed type’ – Beautifully constructed all through but his shine really comes from his movement. He just oozes strength and endurance that could go all day with his correct Sussex roll and his unhurried stride with such correct footfall out and back. RBOB AVNSC

2nd Whittington Mrs W & Miss K Juldeane Line of Duty (AI) – English Setter – Nice bone and substance, good eye and kind expression. A hard decision but just lost out on movement as 1 just flowed round the ring being slightly firmer on the move.

Open 7 (2)

1st Mayhew & Middleton C & J Sh Ch Arnac Bay Hebe Europe’22 – Retriever Chesapeake Bay – Solid & powerful construction yet feminine throughout. Love the fact nothing is overdone but all just well-proportioned and fitting together so well to allow for strong powerful drive. Junior 3 (1)

A difficult class with 2 really lovely dogs at the differing end of the class. 1st was 12 months and the 2nd was just 6 ½ months so lots of difference in maturity and construction at this age, made it a hard class to judge as I really liked them both.

1st Bellamy Mrs P & Miss A Bochilbarley A Place of Land, A happy full of himself exuberant dog. He nearly lost the class on movement as he was close on rear movement but did settle down to correct gait as he got into his stride in the class. Well off for bone and good sternum. On the larger side and would not want any more height to him, however he is in proportion with himself. Was pleased to hear this gave him his final point for his JW.

2nd Durrant, Mr AF, Mr M & Mrs CJ Glenturret Gyspy Tart, I really liked her, a very pretty girl all full of fun. She has the correct shape and length to height for her age just now needs the time to mature up and show herself off – will be interested to see her progress. BP, Puppy Group 4 where she settled more on the move in a larger ring size.

Junior 6 (1)

A really lovely class to have hands on, so thank you and I am sure many will swop places as they mature and grow on.

1st Phipps-Baker & Baker Mrs S & Mr I, Maddouse Hippi Hippi Shayk, A really lovely baby with correct eye colour and shape with lovely dark rims, giving that pretty & kind expression. Really lovely shoulder placement with good length of upper arm allowing free flowing straight movement in front. Nicely balanced throughout with moderate angles throughout, nothing overdone – another I will be interested to see how she matures up. BOB, BP, Gundog Puppy Group 2

2nd Poile Miss V, Summeramba Starshine a Cherrimar, slightly longer cast than 1 when stood. Good head and eye pigmentation with nice strong head in skull without coarseness. Slightly shorter upper arm not quite allowing for such good front action, giving a slightly shorter stride on the move. Good hocks well let down to give power on her rear drive as she moved round the ring.

3rd Phipps-Baker & Baker MRs S & Mr I, Maddouse Must be Trouble

Post Graduate 1

1st Pounds-Longhurst Mrs S H, Mossburn Galloping Major JW, 21 months dog just coming into his own now & maturing up. Good proportions with nothing over done and moderate angles. I liked his front assembly and overall front construction which allowed for straight, good length of footfall out with a good bend of stifle and nice strong straight hocks to give the right drive from rear.

Open 4(1)

1st Simms-Stelling Mrs PA, Penbridge Play Fast and Loose for Stvincent, lovely mature boy. Nice head and eye pigment giving a really lovely expression, liked his depth of muzzle giving a good strong head. Neck correct length leading to shoulders nicely laid back, firm topline, short coupled and well-muscled. Good hocks and nice tight feet with precise placement on the move. RBOB

2nd Poile, Miss V, Summeramba Twizzle at Cherrimar, slightly smaller in size but lots to like about her. Good feet allowing her to stand true and use them to advantage on the move giving a nice flow round the ring, just would prefer more drive.

3rd Hudson Miss DJ Aymsbury Akaysha

Retriever Labrador

Junior 3(1)

1st Boulden Miss, Rumhill Firecracker, 12 months old. Larger size boy sitting, in proportion with himself though, head strong and giving a good expression. Nice strong neck into strong laid back shoulders, good upper arm allowing correct front action on the move and feet to fit nicely under when stood. Back & length correct with strong loin. Would prefer slightly more turn in stifle. BOB

2nd Boulden Miss, Rumhill Firebreeze, I see litter brother to 1. Not as settled on the move & slightly smaller all round. Good strong head with nice stop and adequate length. His movement was not as precise as his sister today.

Post Graduate 3 (2)

1st Kerr, Ms LA, Trulance Candy Girl, a pretty chocolate lab. Nicely put together but lacking in muscle tone throughout which showed on the move. RBOB

Open 2(1)

1st Kerr, Ms LA, Trulance Candy Girl

Spaniels (Cocker)

Junior 5 (3)

Again a difficult class as both at varying degree of maturity and age.

1st Griffin Mrs J, Griffial Love Rescue Me – slightly older so more settled and construction fitting together slightly better at this stage. Nice length of back with correct height ratio. Had a better front and front action than 2nd. Lovely eye and good reach of neck into good and correct shoulder placement. Nice hock, well let down giving good reach of drive. BOB

2nd Beckwith Mrs H, Sheigra Special Secret with Balaambeck – only a youngster but a lot to like, however not the bite that I would like. Needs to settle into herself more and will I am sure in time. As she matures up her front will strengthen up and settle on the move. RBOB

Post Graduate 1

Griffin Mrs J, Griffial’s Rue Herb of Grace – sadly withdrawn as lame. Hope she is feeling better.

1st Anderson, Mr J & Mrs C, Hollieseast Chanel Chic -9 ½ months old. Good proportions, not being too long in length so its feet sit within its framework allowing balance & strength of movement. Correct angulations in front, lovely shoulder placement and deep brisket. A pleasing head with good eye colour and shape. A very calm girl for her age. BP, BOB

2nd Wood, Ms CS =, Stormdancer Plum Pudding – straighter in front than 1 and slightly longer in length taking away from the balance slightly with long hocks giving a slightly weaker movement in rear. Although still young so lots of time to mature up and settle into her framework. RBOB

Gundog Group

What a lovely group to go over and see move. Well done to you all for representing your breeds so well. I shortlisted down to 6 Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Portuguese Pointer, GSP, Pointer, Flat Coated Retriever, Weimaraner.

Final Placings were

Group 1 - Dymond, Mr B, GSP – such a cracking dog that really shone today in the large ring and moved with ease, strength and endurance. Put with his powerful framework, correct length and sitting nicely 4 square on firm feet he really couldn’t be denied the group.

Group 2 – Mayhew & Middleton C&J, SH CH Arnac Bay Hebe Europe’22 – Chesapeake Bay Retriever. Another powerhouse of a dog. Really shone today, a really close decision, but just on the movement lacked that final sparkle needed today to top the Group.

Group 3 – Phipps-Baker & Baker Mrs S & Mr I, Never Say Never Oasis of Peace to Maddouse – Flat Coated Retriever

Group 4 – Kaye, Byrne & Barclay Mr I & Miss A & Miss A, Bryanelly Woody Among Nizzana – Portuguese Pointer

Puppy Group

Group 2 – Phipps-Baker & Baker Mrs S & Mr I, Maddouse Hippi Hippi Shayk – Golden Retriever – couldn’t deny this very typy baby her place, showed her socks off with such lovely straight movement at front and powerful rear movement.

Group 3 – Walden, Mrs S & Miss K, Taramount Golden Ticket – American Cocker Spaniel

Group 4 – Durrant, Mr A F, Mr M & Mrs CJ Glenturret Gyspy Tark – Flat Coated Retriever
