German Shorthaired Pointer

Junior (3 Ent, 1 Abs)

1st Best Puppy In Breed Bunker’s Winterwell Little Itch

Almost 10 Months old feminine bitch in super well muscled condition with lovely outline, proportions and overall balance for her age. Very pretty head, nice dark eye and rim, with good reach of neck. Scored highly in her quarters which were well angulated both fore and aft. Lovely sweep of stifle, nice width to upper thigh and stood on great feet. Her balance really showed on the move, she really powered around the ring with such precision for a young girl whilst carrying her shape all the way around.

2nd Merritt’s Sperant Chocolate Cosmos JW

Although the more mature of the two, not quite the overall balance of the first at this stage however still a very promising young bitch having just turned twelve months. Again, very nicely proportioned - well boned for her age with good depth, very clean through her neck into good shoulders and strong topline. Adequate forechest into well sprung rib and strong in loin, just preferred the angulation of the hindquarters of first. Moved okay on a difficult surface.

Post Graduate (1 Ent)

1st Garget and Morris’s Winterwell Eeh By Gum With Garvin

Two year old male just reaching his maturity, stood alone in this class but nonetheless a very deserving winner. Well muscled throughout and presented a lovely outline on the stack. Masculine in head with super straight front and bone, good layback of shoulder and return of forearm, deep through his chest into well sprung ribs, nice turn of stifle into well let down hocks and super feet. His driving movement covered the ground easily and with panache. Reserve Best Of Breed

Open (2 Ent, 1 Abs)

1st Best Of Breed Merritt’s Sperant Pamplemousse Very eye catching 3 year old bitch again sporting the substance and balance I was looking for whilst maintaining her femininity. Really lovely headpiece with correct ear set, clean flew and beautiful dark eye. Clean through her neck into well laid back shoulders, equally good return of forearm emphasising a good sternum and forechest. Well boned and true at the front with good elbows. Ribs carried sufficiently well back and showing lovely spring. Hindquarters balanced with her fore, with a great turn of stifle and width to upper thigh. Moved very well today with ease, covering the ground effortlessly.

Irish Setter

Puppy (4 Ent, 1 Abs)

1st Reserve Best Of Breed Milligan-Bott and Bott’s Thendara Big Love.

Almost 11 Month Old Male. Striking in outline on the stack, racy with lovely proportions being substantial with good bone but maintaining elegance. Handsome, masculine head with strong brow, good stop and lovely chiseling. Clean through the neck into brilliant forequarters, good length and layback to scapula and lovely return to forearm complimenting a prominent sternum and strong forechest. Ribbed well back and well sprung into muscular loin and good croup, lovely width to upper thigh and strong turn of stifle. Really came into his own on the move here, covering the ground efficiently whilst being true and maintaining a good width.

2nd Chorley-Newton’s Kerryfair Just Be

Shorter cast 11 month male Lovely head on this young man, kind dark eye of correct shape and again well chiseled with a very nice finish to foreface. Good length of neck setting smoothly into his topline. A little steeper in shoulder than first but showing a great depth of chest and spring of rib. Clean over the croup into correct tailset and muscular rear quarters. Needs to drop into his stifle a little but is still only a baby. Super short pasterns into fabulous tight and neat feet. Clean topline both on the stack and held on the move. Very exhuberant on the move today and needs to tighten a little at the rear but still only young so has plenty of time on his side.

Junior (4 Ent, 1 Abs)

1st Best Of Breed Bott’s Bardonhill Carry On Cleo

An honest and utterly balanced young bitch who flows from her nose to the tip of her tail, in super quality coat and strong muscular condition. Sweetest of heads with such a gentle expression. Fabulous balanced planes, possessing an excellent finish with clean flews, good stop and occiput into a lovely arch of neck. Front of the correct width and true over lovely tight feet. Excellent shoulder placement and strong sternum into well sprung ribs. To nitpick I would prefer a slightly shallower croup however it didn’t spoil her outline. Still not yet fully mature at only 17 Months however her movement was effortless, free and collected showing her correct footfall and lovely reach and drive, could not be denied Best Of Breed today and showing such promise, I will follow her career with interest.

2nd First In Puppy

Post Graduate (2 Ent, 1 Abs)

1st Fox and Fider’s Kerryfair Heart To Heart

Lovely classic head and expression on this girl, super dark eye with strong brow and beautiful chiselling. Would prefer a little more length to neck but clean through the throat into good layback of shoulder and strong sternum. Correct spring of rib and well muscled through the loin into moderate hindquarters with super width to upper thigh, neat rear pasterns and tidy feet. Her tailset was a fraction lower than I would prefer and a shade level in topline today.

Open (3 Ent, 1 Abs)

1st Fox’s Kerryfair Special Diamond

Very feminine 4 year old bitch. Elegant in overall shape with good proportions and a smooth and flowing topline. Clean head with correct earset highlighting a lovely cheeky expression, correct parallel planes and strong occipital protuberance into lovely arch of neck. Longer in loin but well muscled and with good width to upper thigh. Lovely turn of stifle further highlighted by her short, neat pasterns. Just a little lacklustre on the move both in her class and the challenge.

2nd Weir’s Kerrimere Irresistable

7 year old gentleman presented in super coat condition belying his years. Masculine and refined in head, lovely earset with good arch of neck into well laid back shoulders. Not as true at the front as first but liked his bone and substance. Good spring of rib and strong turn of stifle showing well developed, muscular hindquarters and highlighting the lovely width to his upper thigh; Again another exhibit with really lovely rear pasterns and tight neat feet. Perhaps carrying a little ‘winter padding’ today and understandably not the exuberance of the youngsters on the move.

Pointer

Puppy (4 Ent, 3 Abs)

1st Abbott’s Tenshilling Dock Of The Bay Promising 8 and a half month old male, appealing overall shape, well balanced and in lovely condition for a youngster. Well boned, Handsome in head with well defined stop and correct colouring to eye and nose showing a lovely kind expression. Clean muscular neck into well laid back shoulders of good length, correct depth and strong spring of rib, excellent turn of stifle into tidy feet. A shade steeper in croup than I would prefer and he did carry his tail a little high on the move but still just a young boy and very much enjoying himself today Best Puppy

Junior (3 Ent, 1 Abs)

1st O’Neills Tenshilling To Sir With Love Almost 11 Month old orange and white bitch who pushed very hard for RBOB. Loved her style and shape. Feminine in head with correct proportions, slight dish and a really super expression. Lovely arch to her neck, cleanly set into great shoulders. Correct depth of brisket and well ribbed with short couples into lovely turn of stifle and well let down hocks. Came into her own in this class with her movement, easily covering the ground with drive and fluidity, however just lost a little of her energy in the challenge.

2nd Stilgoe and Fox’s Teisgol Snow Queen JW Lovely feminine black and white bitch with a very pretty head piece, correct dish and length of foreface with well defined stop; liked her for bone and body. Good through her topline and super reach of neck, not the forequarters of first, having slightly less layback of shoulder and return of forearm, but neat elbows, strong through the ribs, nice short couplings and very well angulated behind. In lovely muscular condition just seemed a little uncertain of the flooring today and didn’t quite have the reach or coverage of the winner.

Post Graduate (5 Ent, 4 Abs)

1st Stilgoe’s Glenariff Mojito Over Teisgol Reserve Best Of Breed

Black and White One and a half year old male. Certainly lots to like about this boy, strong in outline with a very handsome masculine head but not overdone. Good layback of shoulder and return of forearm, correct depth of chest and ribs carried well back into slightly arched muscular loin. Well angulated at the rear and straight from behind. Moved with purpose, precision and drive maintaining his shape throughout.

Open (3 Ent, 2 Abs)

1st Philo’s Tenshilling It’s My Party For Salmonmist JW Best Of Breed

Presented a picture on the stack and on the move being clean and curvy in outline. Handsomest of heads with the most beautiful expression, nicely chiselled, slight dish and correct in proportions. Long, clean neck with slight arch into brilliant forequarters, strong shoulders of good length with correct layback and complimentary return of forearm, lovely sternum and forechest, forelegs true showing good oval bone and slight slope to pastern. Strong in spring of rib carried back into a muscular short loin. Hindquarters balanced with his fore, being well angulated and supported by lovely musculature. Such a fabulous mover on the day, covering the ground effortlessly with both reach and drive being true fore and aft.

Golden Retriever

Puppy (2 Ent, 1 Abs)

1st Williams and Pritchard’s Sonham Your Kinda Love For Trebettyn

Very pretty 6 month old girl just endlessly eager to please showing promise at such a young age. Good proportions and shape on the stack, sporting overall balance. Sweet head and expression with dark eye and correct pigment to rims, good earset and clean through her neck into nice shoulder placement. Good fill at the front and forelegs tucked neatly under her. Proportionate in rib to loin and sufficiently deep in chest and hindquarters already showing good width and definition of both upper and lower thigh. Very much a baby on the move but took it all in her stride covering the ground well and driving from the rear. Promising young baby.

Junior (3 Ent, 1 Abs)

1st Taylor and Tenn’s Strettonhills Ultimatum Best Of Breed

Lovely 14 Month old darker coated boy, well off for bone and just awaiting his maturity to finish the picture. Balanced and clean in outline, strong in head but without being coarse, showing good proportions, lovely dark eye and dark rims. Correct reach of neck setting well into lovely layback of shoulder and return of forearm, forelegs true. Deep in rib and well sprung through to good second thigh and turn of stifle. The best mover on the day, covering the ground with power and precision, maintaining his topline and shape throughout

2nd Steel’s Chalkswille Make A Wish To Juhua

12 Month old, compact bitch built on smaller lines. Another darker coat with good undercoat, head broad and balanced in proportions with correct muzzle length, dark eye and rims. Neck of good length with forelegs tucked well under her strong sternum. Good spring of rib into nice hindquarters which were well muscled, allowing her to move with drive and enthusiasm She did like to present herself a little overstacked which occasionally spoilt her topline but was certainly enjoying herself.

Post Graduate (3 Ent)

1st Taylor and Tenn’s Strettonhills Ultimatum See First In Junior

2nd Riley’s Wylloh Lost In Translation JW Reserve Best Of Breed

On my initial look and hands on I found this boy really quite striking. Presented in super condition and well made throughout, really lovely head and expression with good proportions and great chiselling, correct earset and clean through his strong neck into super forequarters with great shoulders in both length and layback, corresponding return of forearm and elbows sitting close to his rib. Balanced through his body and in strong muscular condition. Hindquarters well angulated with a lovely turn of stifle and straight from the rear. On the move however he was quite unhappy with the ring surface and it did cost him, thankfully his handler persevered with him and managed to somewhat bring him to terms with it by the challenge, as such he could not be denied Reserve Best of Breed.

3rd Hammond’s Merimoor Adventuress

Open (2 Ent, 1 Abs)

1st Hammond’s Merimoor Satin Nights

5 year old bitch showing a very pretty profile on the stack just a little out of coat at the moment. Sweet head and expression with nice dark eyes, slightly longer cast. Forelegs true and well boned, good forequarters although not the return of forearm of the BOB and RBOB, ribbed well back with an excellent width to both upper and lower thigh showing a beautiful turn of stifle. Correct tailset and carried well. Another that seemed to find the floor a little disconcerting and slippery, this time on the stack which did occasionally cause her to lose her shape but very well handled.
