Redditch & District Canine Society

Thank you to the committee and officeholders for inviting me to judge the terrier group at their show. Also thank you to my hard-working steward.

CAIRN TERRIER

PUPPY (1)

1. Keeves’ Seveek Guilded Dream. Nice promising 10-month-old dog puppy. Super outline and shape, with lovely outgoing personality. Showing very well when settled. Correct head with broad skull and well carried ears. Nice front with feet turning out slightly. Sufficient turn of stifle and well let down hocks. Super weather-proof double coat of harsh texture.

JUNIOR (1)

1. Keeves’ Seveek Peaches N Dreams. 11-month-old bitch with very similar qualities to the above. Eyes perhaps not so sunken. Moved well and performed better in the challenge for Best Puppy. RESERVE BEST OF BREED & BEST PUPPY.

POST GRADUATE (1)

1. Keeves’ Seveek License to Dream. 17 month old bitch with good forequarters and nice feet. Good overall type and moved OK.

OPEN (2)

1. Day’s Trekhilli Pepperazzi. Super outgoing mature dog, standing well forward on forepaws. Lovely to handle, everything flows! Correct head, broad skull and definited stop. Well set on neck and good lay of shoulder. Level back and strong hindquarters. Moved very well. Excellent weather-proof double coat of harsh texture. BEST OF BREED.

2. Keeves’ Seveek Everlasting Dream. Half sister to the Post Graduate winner, of a similar type. Good head. Very good weather-resistant double coat of harsh texture. For me, the shorter tail detracts and spoils the outline.

ANY VARIETY NOT SEPARATELY CLASIFIED TERRIER

PUPPY (4)

1. Curtis’ Skye Terrier, Brakemill Midsummer Dream. A very promising puppy, who was beautifully presented, portraying elegance and dignity. Long and powerful strong head, nice expressive eyes and gracefully feathered ears. Long, slightly crested neck. Good forequarters. Long, low body, with level back. I expect substance will come with maturity. Well angulated hindquarters aiding effortless movement. Double coat of correct texture coming well. A.V.N.S.C. TERRIER PUPPY.

2. Bamsey’s Irish Terrier, Holbam Shamrock Kevin. Head appeared a little shorter than some. Good length of neck, well laid shoulders. Straight legs, with bone and muscle. Moderately long body and strong, muscled hindquarters, with moderately bent stifles. Nice tail set. Coat will harden with age.

3. Parker’s Manchester Terrier, Rattustrap Hazy Jane.

JUNIOR (1)

1. Bannister’s Bedlington Terrier, Miteymidgets New Variant. I see she is daughter of one of my favourites, inheriting a lot of the same attributes. Super to go over, everything flows. Nice head with narrow skull. Long and tapering neck that flows into flat sloping shoulders. Deep chested, flat ribbed with correct natural arch over loin. Hocks strong and well let down. Correct Bedlington distinctive movement. RESERVE BEST A.V.N.S.C. TERRIER

POST GRADUATE (2)

1. McBay’s Bull Terrier (Miniature), Phunsize Divo Noggin. Quite nice, but I considered rather heavily built for a miniature Bull Terrier. Presented in very hard condition, strongly built and muscled. Correct downfaced, egg-shaped head with triangular eyes and well-placed ears. Straight, strong round boned front legs, with round, compact feet. Nice topline.

2. Knapp’s Norfolk Terrier, Kinsridge Caribbean Queen. Feminine bitch. Nicely bodied, with good turn of stifle. Very good coat – hard, wiry, straight and lying close to the body.

OPEN (6)

1. Bamsey’s Irish Terrier, Holbam Celtic Wizard JW. One of my favourites and still a super showman with his ‘daredevil’ attitude, naughty but lovely tempered. Good size and well balanced. Well-proportioned long head, with flat skull. Dark almond shaped eyes, giving a keen expression, full of naughty intelligence. Wonderful well-set ears, set high on his head with tips correctly pointing to the outer corner of his eyes. Good slope of shoulder, powerful chest measuring to elbow. Moderate length of back, with ribs well ribbed back, good tail set. Strong hindquarters with powerful hocks, giving him good drive. Strong, round feet. Excellent colour of coat, with harsh, wiry texture. Slight fringe at the side of the neck. BEST A.V.N.S.C. TERRIER.

Two very nice Bedlingtons, both of excellent quality.

2. Bannister’s Bedlington Terrier Miteymidgets New Vision JW. Litte brother to the Junior winner and of the same type and quality. Super shape, lovely head and excellent mover.

3. Butler’s Bedlington Terrier, Ch. Yarbach Federers Final.

4. Lee’s Irish Terrier, Ivyblue Crinkles.

5. Worrall’s Bedlington Terrier, Bluesmurf Boogie Woogie.

A.V. TERRIER VETERAN (6)

A very difficult class to judge with excellent dogs present. Lovely to have three champions in a Veteran Terrier class and others of good quality. The first two were both favourites of mine.

1. Bannister’s Bedlington Terrier, Ch Miteymidgets Going Global. I fell in love with this one as a puppy. The next time I saw her was as a champion winning BOB at Crufts. A very worthy champion. I felt she moved with more animation on the day.

 2. Butler’s Bedlington Terrier, Ch. Yarbach Fedeers Final. Another favourite of mine, now in veteran. I am pleased he gained his title and he is another worthy champion. He looked lovely, but just felt he acted his age more on the day.

 3. Dean’s Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Kylestaff Muddy Water JW ShCM.

 4. Lee’s Irish Terrier, Sujoncla Goyathlay.

 5. Bamsey’s Irish Terrier, Ch Holbam Pearly Star ShCM.
