1. Macdonald, Mcquade & Hindley Cornstalk Twiggy at Birkhall, feminine 3 year old fawn and white bitch, good head with slight stop, oval eye, rose shaped small ears, scissor bite, muscular neck into well laid back shoulders, forelegs straight with moderate bladed bone, pastern with slight spring, deep chest, definite tuck up and arch over loin, stood naturally over the ground, long tail, sound mover showing freedom of action. BOB.

1. Amstrong and McFarlane Cornstalk Candy Parti Boy, fawn and white male, lovely head and eye, scissor bite, small rose shaped ears, good length of neck, forelegs straight, pasterns with slight spring, deep chest, required body curves, well developed second thigh, stood over the ground, sound on the move, holding his topline.

I wanted to do a foreword before I went into my Rhodesian Ridgeback critique to highlight what good sportsmanship they all had. All exhibitors supported each other and cheered for all winners, it was refreshing to see.

Rhodesian Ridgeback Graduate (3,1abs)

1. Muncie and Crossan Callmn’s Queen Bee of Mahanovemi, feminine balanced bitch, head rather broad, long muzzle, round eyes, high set ears, scissor bite, good length of neck into shoulder, balanced moderate angulation front and rear, deep chest, compact feet, clearly defined ridge, free movement.

2. Black and Mckinley Asharaa Dark Side of the Moon at Gileeja, masculine powerful male, good head and eye, high set ears carried close to head, good length of neck into shoulder, balanced angulation, straight forelegs, hocks well let down, sound on the move. BPIB and Puppy Group 2.

Rhodesian Ridgeback Limit (5,1abs)

1. Black and Mckinley Rottzridge Perihelion at Gileeja, feminine bitch, won this class on her movement displaying a free and active movement but used her balanced angulation to cover the ground. Head of fair length, skull flat, stop well defined, round eyes, high set ears, scissor bite, strong neck into shoulder, forelegs straight, deep chest, strong loin, well defined ridge, good turn of stifle, well arched toes, tail strong at the root. 2. Buchanan Walamadengie Little Wren, bitch, taller in size than first, good head and round eye, moderate length of neck into shoulder, moderate angulation, straight forelegs, deep chest, well defined ridge, sound on the move.

1. Buchanan Nehdando’s Excalibur, powerful male, head of fair length, rather broad between the ears, scissor bite, round eyes, high set ears, good length of neck into shoulder, moderate angulations, well defined ridge, deep chest, won this class on his sound free movement.

2. Darling Steele Saadani Storm Catcher with Sharufa, elegant bitch, lovely head and eye, scissor bite, high set ears, moderate length of neck, deep chest, moderate balanced angulation, well defined ridge, compact well arched toes, low set tail strong at the root.

Basset Griffon Vendeen Petit Graduate (2)

1. Allen and Gilluley Ballencrieff Jingle Bell, really liked both of these dogs who are litter mates but my winner was the bitch, she has such happy character, good head of moderate length, stop clearly defined, strong underjaw, oval dark eye, low set ears, scissor bite, long neck into well laid shoulder, elbows close to body, forelegs straight, back of medium length, good bend of stifle, tail set on high, correct coat texture, balanced angulation which she showed on the move. BOB and Group 4.

2. Allen and Gilluley Ballencrieff Figgy Pudding, a nice male who presented a lovely shape on the stack, good head and eye, low set ears. Good length of neck into well laid shoulder, balanced angulation froe and aft, level topline, correct coat texture, cheeky character which he showed on the move.

Basset Griffon Vendeen Petit Open (3, 1 abs)

1. Allen and Gilluley Caldewriver Legally Blond at Ballencrieff, taller bitch but presented a nice shape, good head and oval eye, good neck into well laid shoulder, good front with straight forelegs, deep chest, level topline, balanced angulation front and rear, correct coat texture, good bend of stifle, free sound mover using her angulation.

2. Allen and Gilluley Afterglow Cinnamon Buns at Ballencrieff, preferred this bitches size to the winner but would prefer abit less length, good head and eye, low set ears, good length of neck, balanced angulation fore and aft, good depth of chest, sound on the move.

Basset Griffon Vendeen Petit Grand Graduate (2)

1. Buchanen & Maclaren Tarmachan Tipsy Lard, two very promising litter mates, loved the shape of this puppy male, beautiful head with dark oval eye, low set ears, scissor bite, long neck into well laid shoulder, good forechest and depth, balanced angulation front and rear, pasterns slightly sloping, level topline, tail set on high, moved with free action covering the ground. BPIB and Puppy Group 1.

2. Buchanen & Maclaren Tarmachan Clootie Dumpling, feminine bitch, beautiful head and eye, scissor bite, long neck into shoulder, straight forelegs, good depth of chest, level topline, balanced angulation, moved with that free action showing reach and drive.

Basset Griffon Vendeen Petit Grand Open (2)

1. Buchanen & Maclaren Tarmachan My Myosotis, I fell for this beautiful 3 year old quality male, well made all through, correct head with domed skull and well defined stop, dark oval eye, long eyebrows, low set ears, good length of neck into well laid shoulder, forelegs straights, pasterns slightly sloping, back of good length with level topline, good balanced angulation fore and aft which he used to advantage on the move, large feet and tail set on high. Pleased to award him BOB and Group 1.

2. Buchanen & Maclaren Tarmachan Miss Impatiens, another quality bitch from this kennel. 3 year old feminine girl, balanced all through, good head but would prefer a darker eye, low set ears, good length of neck into well laid shoulder, good forechest, back of good length and level topline, moves with a free action showing reach and drive.

Beagle Open (2)

1. Calikes Newlin Revel, pretty 3 year old tri bitch, good head with that slightly domed skull and well defined stop, dark eye, long ears, scissor bite, moderate length of neck into shoulder, forelegs straight and round in bone, level topline, well sprung ribs, balanced angulation, tight feet, tail set on high, was a little showgirl on the move showing free long strides. BOB and Group 3.

2. Kavanagh Davricard Honey Flower, 7 year old lemon and white male, good head and eye with long low set ears, scissor bite, good neck into well laid shoulder, balanced angulation, good depth of chest with well sprung ribs, level topline, sound on the move but would like to have seen abit more freedom in the front action.

Afghan Hound Open (1)

1. Anderson Ch Zandahar Tartan Xplorer JW, beautifully balanced shaded black mask gold boy who I have admired ringside on many occasion so it is always nice to be able to actually get my hands over him, masculine head with dark triangular shaped eye complete with chiselling, scissor bite, nice underjaw, good length of neck into shoulder, good balanced angulation front and rear, level topline, deep chest, sloping pasterns, low hocks, prominent hipbones, good fallaway finishing with a ring tail, moved soundly using his balanced angulation, just a shame the ring wasn’t big enough to let him fully get into a stride. BOB and Group 2.

AVNSC Open (4,1abs)

1. Russell & Graham Sheez Got It Russteck, 17 months Mini Wire Haired Dachshund, long head appearing conical when viewed from above, almond shaped eye with ridges over the eye, scissor bite, high set ears, long neck into well laid shoulder, balanced angulation, good forechest, forelegs covering lowest point of keel, topline reasonably level, broad rump, free flowing sound mover. Best AVNSC.

Grace & Twaddle Cotherstone Hashtag Sasilasy, Black and tan Std Smooth Dachshund male of good size, good head and eye, head appearing conical when viewed from above, scissor bite, high set ears, long neck into well laid shoulder, balanced angulation front and rear, good forechest, forelegs covering lowest point of keel, topline reasonably level, sound on the move.
