Vale Of Glamorgan Agricultural Society

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at this popular open show, and for my stewards who kept the ring moving in good order. The sun was blazing but there was plenty of shade for the dogs to stay cool before they went into the ring. It was such a shame that the volume of traffic caused so many delays which resulted in a lot of exhibitors missing their class. This was not the fault of the committee although they took the brunt of complaints from frustrated exhibitors.

BORZOI

1st Logvinenko, Dr T Ryazan Vladimir Almost 3 year-old fawn and white male who is balanced fore and aft. Aristocratic, masculine head with a keen expression, lovely veining and the desired Roman nose. Long muscular neck which flows smoothly into clean shoulders. Straight forelegs and well arched oval feet. Great dept of brisket and sweeping tuck up - would just prefer a little more infill. Well made rear with good angulation and broad low hocks. Beautifully presented, he moved effortlessly around the ring. BOB

DEERHOUND

1st Owen & Brodie, Mr K J & Ms Z L S Wolfscastle Soul Sister 4 year-old bitch. Feminine typey head with dark eyes, small well held ears and a lovely moustache. Good reach of neck, a strong, well muscled front with correct return of upper arm. Deep chest, well arched broad loin that flows into a powerful rear with good length from hip to hock. Lovely shape and outline and a super coat. Moved with an easy and active gait. BOB 

2nd Owen & Brodie, Mr K J & Ms Z L S Fritzen Zareef at Wolfscastle NAF TAF 7 month-old male. A quality puppy with lots to like. Masculine head with dark oval eyes and that keen far- away expression. Muscular neck of good length that flows into a well made front. Good depth of chest for age. Plenty of infill and a well ribbed back. Shapely rear with good width to second thigh. Moved well for one so young. A promising puppy. BP & PG2

IRISH WOLFHOUND 

JUNIOR 1

1st Simpson, Mr P A Rainster Europa 9 month-old upstanding and well grown wheaten bitch. Feminine head with beautifully rosed ears, good length of muzzle and strength to underjaw. Stong neck fits easily into correctly placed shoulders with good return of upper arm and elbows set well under. Well ribbed back of good length. Pleasing underline and decent top line. Muscular rear with fair width to second thigh. Long tail, carried well. Moved around the ring using an easy and active stride. BOB & BP

1st Broderick, Miss S E White Lightening Blue 16 month- old red wheaten male. Attractive head with correct ear carriage and deep muzzle. Neck of good length flowing into well laid shoulders, deep brisket and ribbed well back. Balanced hind quarters with strength to second thigh. Used his rear quarters well on the move. BOB 

2nd McKenna, Mrs M Kiromol Hot Cocoa. 13 month red male. Broad masculine head, with correct dentition though would prefer a bit more length to his muzzle. Strong neck flows into decent shoulders, deep chest and strength to his loin. Still only young and needs to develop in his hindquarters. Super tight feet Looking a little long in the leg at present. Lovely profile movement.

1st Strong, Mr M & Mrs J Shahzad Zaki Ter Dolen (Imp BEL) 3 years-old black fringed fawn male presented in super condition. Balanced front and rear angulations. Beautiful head and expression with lovely dark pigment and well set ears. Good reach of neck into a well made front assembly. Straight forelegs with slightly sloping pasterns and correct feet. Good depth of brisket with a nice rise over the loin. Well made hindquarters with a good bend of stifle and low hocks. Held his top line on the move. BOB
