Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at this friendly, well run open show. My two stewards, Anthea and Michelle, kept the ring ticking over most efficiently, thank you. We had a large ring that enabled the hounds to really get into their stride and show off their movement. Thank you to all the exhibitors who entered their hounds.

1st Hills & Thornton, Miss M & Mrs B Absolute Afghans Djibouti At Karnak JW (IMP NOR)

2 years old, black masked gold male. Super masculine head beautifully chiselled, dark triangular eye and an attractive mandarin beard. Strong neck flows smoothly into lovely shoulder placement, good depth of brisket and well sprung ribs. Balanced hindquarters with no exaggeration, short hocks and large well-padded feet. Level top line, natural saddle with prominent pin bones and a correctly set ring tail. Moved with reach and drive, shown in super coat. RBOB

2nd Medley, Mrs JE Altside She’s Hot

2 years old, gold bitch. Elegant head, dark eye with correct ear placement and punishing jaws. Muscular neck that flows into a fair shoulder placement, good depth of chest with correct underline. Forelegs straight with ample bone and large well-padded feet. Level top line with a natural saddle and ring tail. Pleasing side gait, although slightly close in rear.

1st Gosling, Ms T & Mrs J Ayoubkhan Silk Road JW

19 months old, self masked cream male. Striking young, rangy hound with a lovely balanced outline. Quality head that is beautifully balanced through skull and fore face, mounted with a large topknot, expressive dark eyes and good pigment. Strong muscular neck flows into well laid shoulders and elbows set well under. He has a level top line, nicely ribbed back and a strong broad muscular loin. Natural saddle, prominent pin bones and a correctly set ringed tail. Length and strength to rear, good width to 2nd thigh and short parallel hocks. Powered around the ring with a style of high order, showing reach and drive. Such ring presence in a young hound. BOB, HG3

2nd. Turner, Hutton & Boydell. Mrs J, Mrs Z & Mrs M Nightwind You’re My Kind of Crazy (IMP DEU)

5 years old, black bitch with an eastern expression. Length and strength to jaw, lovely mandarin beard and low set ears covered with a silky fringe. Long strong neck with head held proudly, balanced angulation front and rear although a touch short coupled. Level back with a natural saddle. Ringed tail correctly carried on the move. Lovely coat condition.

6 years old, tri-colour bitch. Clean and compact in outline, with good angles front and rear. Pleasing head with dark eye, and correct dentition. Good width to front, shoulders well laid with correct return of upper arm. Stands with elbows well set under, round bone and compact well knuckled feet. Moved with plenty of drive holding her topline. Nicely handled. RBOB

6 years old, strong tri-coloured bitch, litter mate to 1st PG. Lovely balanced outline. Typical head, kind expression and correctly placed ears. Strong neck flows into a neat front with nicely angulated quarters. Ample bodied with a good depth of chest and spring of rib. Stands on good bone with tight feet and short nails. Good bend of stifle with low set parallel hocks. Strong hind action on the move, firm in top line and stern correctly set. She has plenty of substance and was shown in super coat. BOB HG4

8 months old, brindle boy. Balanced in outline and nicely grown. Balanced head with good length of muzzle, oval eyes and correct ear carriage. Lovely length and strength to neck, fair shoulder placement and good spring of rib. Sweeping underline with gentle arch over the loin. Nicely angulated rear with well bent stifles and tight feet. Moved steadily around the ring, holding his top line. BP & PG2

2nd Falconer, Ms D E Serrafina Star

8 months old, fawn bitch, litter mate to 1st. Typical head with kind expression and fine rosed ears. Good length to muzzle and correct dentition. Strong neck, decent front assembly and return of upper arm. Good dept of chest and infill for age, with a well ribbed back. Width to rear with low hocks. Shown in good condition.

1st Longhurst, Mrs A & Miss A Dancing Queen

12 ½ month old blue fawn bitch. Caught my eye when she entered the ring, and she didn’t disappoint. Beautifully balanced and smooth in outline, nothing exaggerated. Feminine head, oval eye, correct length of muzzle with strength to under-jaw and strong dentition. Elegant, well arched neck flows into correct front assembly with good infill. Forelegs straight with bladed bone and strong pasterns. Sweeping underline, correct rise over a strong loin and broad rear quarters. Presented in immaculate condition. Easy and graceful profile movement, showing reach and drive. BOB

2nd Soffee, Miss C Macchiato JW

13 month fawn with a black mask male. Presented a balanced outline on the stack. Masculine head of correct proportions, fine rosed ears carried well. Strong muscular neck that flows into a good lay of shoulder, with good depth of brisket and elbows set well under. Straight forelegs with lovely tight feet and good spring of pasterns. Broad, well angulated rear quarters with good width to second thigh. Shown in great condition. Moved true coming and going. RBOB

3 years old fawn and white bitch. Pretty head with lovely, rosed ears and strength to under jaw. Strong neck and correct front assembly. Deep chest, sweeping underline, broad well-muscled back with strength to loin. Balanced in rear with strong low hocks. Beautifully conditioned, both muscular and coat. Moved soundly with drive from her rear quarters.

1st. Bass, Mrs E S Blandings Treacle Tart ShCM VW

10 years old, black brindle bitch who is still in tip top condition. Balanced in outline, standing naturally over a lot of ground. Pretty, feminine head with the sweetest of expressions and well-placed rosed ears. The most elegantly arched neck leading into correct front assembly, good depth of chest, lovely length to ribbing and a strong muscular loin. Good rear quarters, short parallel hocks, and well knuckled feet. Moved with reach and drive, maintaining her top line. Beautifully handled and a real credit to her owner.

2nd Allansson & Macdonald, Miss C & Mr R Salted Caramel of Macalldon JW

4 years old, fawn and white male. Most appealing balanced outline, I initially thought he would be my winner. Head long and lean, with expressive oval eyes and well held rosed ears. He has strength to under jaw and correct dentition. Shoulders well laid back with flat muscles, curvy underline, good depth of chest and spring of rib. Good strong rear quarters with width to 2nd thigh. Ample bone with neat feet. Pleasing side gait, just a little untidy coming and going.
