General Open Show

Thank you for inviting me to judge pastoral breeds (except corgis) and the group. For many of the dogs, this was their first show experience since lockdown. My overall impression of the dogs was 'what a delight!' Dogs were well presented and fit. The majority had lovely clean teeth and scissor bites. Many dogs had lovely side movement. Handlers need to practice their movement in a straight line, as many needed two attempts in order to show the dog's movement to its advantage when coming and going.

Australian Cattle Dog

Graduate (1)

1st - Greehill; BEHITA WARRIGAL PAWS IMP SK. Bitch RBOB. Head is her best feature: flat skull, well defined corners to her eys, alert and intelligent expression. Scissor bite. Stood square with short, tight toes, slightly oval feet. Would have liked to see more reach and drive.

1st - Greenhill; CH JAHANGHIRS LICENCE TO KILL AT HEELERHILL. 10.5 yr old Dog BOB and Veteran Group 1. Moved like a dream, giving the impression he could work all day and then some. Good strong bone, tight feet, well muscled. Very masculine head, with scissor bite, flat wide skull, lovely oval eyes. Alert and intelligent, but wary.

Bearded Collie.

I was impressed with the beardies. They were well presented with happy temperaments, good bites, nice balance and depth of quality in general, which made it difficult to choose the winners.

Junior (2)

1st - Jones; MOLLYFLECK MYFANWY. BOB and G3. 16 month bitch. Sweet expression, sissor bite, Equal proportions of muzzle to skull. Lovely bone and chest developing nicely. Well padded feet. Lovely angulation front and rear, which enables an efforless flowing gait.

2nd - Steer-Eldridge; KAKOS THE HAPPIEST DAYS OF GWALLTAFWYN puppy Bitch BP, PG2. Just over 6 months old baby, with a nice bite, good bone and feet. Moved nicely coming and going. She had a lovely day out and enjoyed herself.

1st - Jones; MOLLYFLECK CELTIC LASS. Bitch RBOB. 2 yr old at her very first show. Square head with equal length muzzle to skull. Nice bone, good angulation, moved well in all directions.

2nd - Kitchen; CEILMEAR'S WISE MAN. 4yr old Dog, masculine with lovely side gait. Slighly longer muzzle. Well developed chest.

3rd - Kitchen; MOLLYFLECK GIFT OF GOLD. Dog

1st - Morris; CAIRBAR SPELLBINDING. Bitch BOB 2.5 years of age. Scissor bite, Slightly longer than she is tall. Lovely alert expression with well-defined corners to her eyes. Bright white teeth. Nice tight feet with short dark nails. Moved soundly in all directions.

2nd - Morris; DOMBURG CAN'T SAY NO TO CAIRBAR. Bitch RBOB.

Belgian Shepherd Dog (Tervueren)

1st - Davies; AMBRAJAI ETERNAL DREAMS. Puppy Bitch BOB PG1 RBPIS. What a lovely 6 month old baby. Graceful head with dark oval eyes and a sweet expression. Muzzle slightly longer than skull. Very keen, intelligent and alert. Scissor bite. Stood balanced and square with no fussing. Free moving from good angulation. Nice tight feet. I was very impressed with her stamina during the long day.

2nd - King; NIAELLE ZENOS OF GRIZWOLD ShCM. Veteran Dog RBOB and BV. Strong boned, masculine 9 yer old with a noble expression. Preferred his side gait to his front and rear movement which was a bit close.

3rd - Morris & Cousins; AMBRAJAI TEMPTATION WITH CAIRBAR. Bitch

Border Collie

Puppy (1)

1st - Warren; WELSHPOOL CELTIC WARRIOR. Dog BP & PG3 9 month old. Wedge shaped head with broad skull, soft muzzle with no snipyness. Well defined stop. Round eyes, scissor bite. Top line a bit high in the rear at this age. Moved soundly coming and going.

Junior (1)

1st - O'Connor; CARTEZZ SPRITZER. Bitch RBOB 14 month. Lovely free mover, looks like she could travel all day. Light in bone with oval feet, well developed chest and strong loin.

Graduate (1)

1st - Warren; MEISTERWERK SKOMER. Dog 3yr old. Broad skull, round eye, level bite. Decent bone, moved okay coming and going and had choppy side gait.

1st - Garland; TONKORY ROYALE ShCM. Dog BOB 5 yr old lovely alert expression. Lovely dark oval eyes, broad skull and lovely proportioned muzzle. Well sprung ribls, nice angulation which propels free movement, well set tail, good tight oval feet.

1st - Ogborn & Titman; ASTEREL DONATELLA VERSACE. Bitch RBOB 3yr old with slightly narrow domed skull which gives her a doleful expression. Strong muzzle. Very slight scissor bite. Good strong bone, oval feet, well muscled condition. Lovely balanced reach of stride fore and aft.

1st - Ogborn & Titman; ASTEREL MIUCCIA PRADA. Bitch BOB litter sister to graduate. This one has broader skull, better bite. Lovely head proportions and dark mask. Strong bone, well developed chest, good strong loin. Good lenght of stride, but pasterns not quite as strong as her sister.

1st - Williams; RYCAMRHIA BRIANNA IN TINLAND. Bitch BOB and Group 4. She was alone in her class, but struck me with her lovely poise. She stood beautifully sound and square, with natural grace and balance. Sparkling eyes and sweet expression. A compact and sturdy dog with good oval feet, lovely dense coat, scissor bite. In lovely condition, her lovely angulation provides the basis for effortless gait, moving easily in all directions.

1st - Nowak; GAYLA Z GRODU RAKA. puppy Bitch. BP and RBOB. light boned and slight curve to the topline. Skull flat, round muzzle. Round eyes, oval feet. Hocks need to strengthen.

Noble expression, neck flows into his strong straight topline, lovely deep chest, strong hocks. Moved straight and sound with lovely reach length of stride. Grace and elegance from every direction.

1st - Robins; MOURNEBRAKE COLD AS ICE. Dog BOB 13 month youngster. Lovely square outline, round skull, lovely scissor bite with sparkling teeth. Well curled tail, cords beginning to develop. Sprightly mover.

1st - Morris & Cousins; CH SWISS/CROA CH PONADTO OBEREK TO DORIANBLUE ShCM veteran Dog BOB and VG3. This dog was a delight to go over. 11 year old in excellent condition, moved like a youngster. Balanced skull with well defined stop. Well angulated and smooth movement. His lovely shaggy coat raised clouds of dust from the hall floor.

2nd - Cousins; AMCH STONEBROOK'S O THE POSSIBILITIES (IMP USA) Bitch RBOB. While constructed okay, this girl did not want to be there today and refused to show off to her best advantage.

1st - Leader & Wright; ANGELICUS QUE SERA SERA AT BJELKIER ShCM. Veteran Bitch BOB and VG2. Brilliant white with a lovely wedge shaped head, lovely black eyes and pigmentation. Well feathered snowshoe feet. Well angulated and moved lovely in all directions.

2nd - Wilson; ROSSKAJA SILVER TEMPTRESS. Bitch RBOB. Lovely head and expression. Not quite the same quality of movement as 1st.

3rd - Ashbourne; KARMYNSKI SILVER VIENNA@ ANGELICUS. Bitch

1st - Price; STARVON YOU GOT IT AT CONINGSBEAR ShCM BOB His head is his forte, with good wedge shape, alert intelligent expression, well defined corners to his eyes, decent bite. No nonsense attitude. Nice tight feet. A bit cobby, looks better from the side than from the rear as he swings his rear when gaiting.
