I have exhibited at this show over the years and was delighted to be invited to judge various hounds and the hound group.  A well run show; the weather was good if a tad windy and a big thank you to David and my super efficient steward who kept me going throughout the day.  Thank you to all exhibitors for entering and bringing their hounds; I thorohgly enjoyed my day and was delighted to have such a quality entry and a super group and puppy group.

1st HAMILTON’S GALA (IMP SP), IBIZAN HOUND. 14 month rough coated bitch with a lot of personality. Presents a nice profile when stacked; feminine head of good proportions and correct head planes. Lovely eye and expression, good ears when she used them. Decent length of neck into nice clean shoulder, good front and well ribbed with plenty of depth of chest, nicely angled at rear. Moves well when settled, enjoyed her time in the ring ! (BOB)

2nd WESTON’S LONGMYND BLACKTHORN, BASSET HOUND. Masculine male of 2 years, nicely balanced in profile. Correct head, good leathers. Good front assembly, nice and strong, ample bone. Ribs are ok, strong loin giving level topline, good angles at rear, well muscled. Moves ok with good tail carriage but would prefer more animation, a little flat on the move today. (RBOB)

1st BRYANT’S BESSALIN MOONLIGHT THUNDER, BASSET HOUND. 14 month, tricolour female. Really giving her owner the run around today; when settled she presents a nice outline; feminine but sadly unhappy today and not giving a true account of herself.

1st SLADDEN’S KHYANNES TRITON AT CANEMAMANS (IMP HUN), BRAQUE D’AUVERGNE. Mature 4 year male, looks balanced on the stack. Masculine head, deep strong muzzle, nice dark eye. Strong neck into good shoulder, straight front with plenty of bone. Well ribbed and in good muscular condition which shows on the move. (BOB).

1st PORTER’S SCENTERBAY FIREWATER NAF, BLACK & TAN COONHOUND. 11 month bitch, super feminine. Nice head, good proportions, good leathers, set on well and nice dark eye giving correct expression. Good length of neck into clean shoulder; front assembly is good and sufficient bone. Ribs are ok but needs to develop in herself. Moderately angled at rear, correct tailset and carriage. Moved and handled well. (RBOB, BP)

1st SIMM’S STONEMARTIN ANILON AT EZHAR (IMP), AZAWAKH. 2 years male; elegant, good proportion when viewed in profile. Fine, narrow and chiselled head; aloof expression. Lean and muscular throughout with penty of definition, clean neck and shoulder, good depth of chest, moderately angled at rear. Light and easy on the move.

1st SMITH & HORTON’S COONSAR HILL TO HIGH WATER AT MORGANBURY, BLACK & TAN COONHOUND. Mature bitch, 3 yrs. Feminine, good head with nicely set on ears, nice dark eye giving correct expression. Good length of neck into well laid back shoulder, good front with ample bone. Sufficient ribbing, nicely covered and with a nice strong loin. Moderately angled rearquarters which she uses well on the move; tailset is good and carried correctly. Nice bitch. (BOB)

1st CARRINGTON’S BUSHWACKER OCEANS ELEVEN. Mature 2 year tricolour male. Balanced in profile; good head, nice dark eye giving correct expression, using his ears well. Muscular neck into well laid shoulder, good forelegs and feet. In good condition, muscular and moderate at rear. Moves with correct swinging action, keeping topline at all times. Lovely dog, presented and handled well. (BOB & Group 4).

1st HUNT’S DUFOSEE IYLA AT BONDLEA. 11 months tricolour bitch, nice compact bitch, feminine head with nice eye and correct soft expression. Muscular neck into good shoulders; nice straight front with good bone and feet. Well bodied, nice strong loin and muscular rear. Moves well coming and going; keeping topline at all times and good tail carriage. (BOB & BPIB & PG4).

1st HUNT’S DUFOSEE IYLA AT BONDLEA.

2nd DIXON’S GLADSTYLE HOPE AND GLORY. 3 years female; a lot to like about this bitch. Typical head, good ears and nice dark eye, Good front and rear assembly. Giving her owner quite the runaround today but she enjoyed her time in the ring !

3rd PORTER’S PUDDLEHILL WANDA MAXIMOFF.

1st MURDEN’S ROWSPRINGS JACKSON. Mature male, looks balanced in profile, good head with typical beagle expression, good leathers. Balanced throughout and in good muscular condition, moved out well. (RBOB)

1st BULLIS’S SUMMERVIEW BLUSHING BEAUTY. Lovely clear red bitch, nice feminine head, good front and nice feet. Decent ribbing and nice level topline. Really excelled on the move; plenty of reach and drive, shall watch her progress with interest. (BOB BPIB).

Class 111 : Yearling (2,1,1)

1st WILLIAMSON’S WILDSTAR WROBINA AT BARKROYAL. 20 months bitch, feminine head with nice dark eye. Good length of neck into good shoulders, would prefer more forechest, ribs okay. A little erratic on the move today but when shes in her stride moves well.

Class 112 : Graduate (2,1,1)

1st PITFIELD’S FOLLYFIELD FORTISSIMO. 2 yrs choc/tan male. Nice type in profile, head is okay, nice firm topline and excels on the move moving with plenty of reach and drive. Well presented and handled.

Class 102 : Open (3, 2,1)

1st PITFIELD’S LUNA CAPRESE D’OROE D’ARGENTO OF FOLLYFIELD (IMP ITA). 7 yrs mature male, nice typical head with dark eye. Neck is okay, good forechest, in great condition. Moves out well; enjoying his day out. (RBOB)

1st CROSS & BLACK’S RIOWOOD RED BOOTS. This exuberant youngster caught my eye as soon as he came in the ring, lovely profile; balanced and with a good topline and underline. Excellent head, dark eye and the cheekiest of expression. Nice forechest, good front assembly, excellent feet, nicely ribbed back with strong loin. Well developed for age, nicely muscled at rear giving him plenty of reach and drive. (BPIB & PG 1)

2nd HARWOOD’S PARADIGM HECTOR COLOSSUS. On another day 1 and two could easily change places; another super youngster. Nice profile on the stack, lovely head has good forechest. Well off for bone, good front assembly and is well bodied with a nice firm topline and nicely angled rear. Moves well but just missing out to 1 on maturity and showmanship.

1st CROSS’S LILLIA SHADOW SEEKER LOGGETA. Lovely feminine brindle bitch presenting a lovely outline when stacked. Good head, lovely dark eye, good length of neck into well placed shoulders. She is well made throughout, nice muscular condition which is evident when she is on the move. Lovely bitch. (RBOB)

2nd BULLIS’S AMAFFREY BRIDGET JONES. Another nice bitch with a lot to like; lovely feminine head; good forechest, nice front and good feet; ribs ok, topline ok and well angled at rear with well let down hocks. Moves well, keeps her topline on the move. Just carrying a bit too much weight for me.

Class 116 : Post Graduate : (3,0,3)

1st HARWOOD’S PARADIGM CEPHEUS FLARE. Mature 5 year old female, looks good in profile; nicely balanced. Head if correct, nice dark eye. Sufficient neck and nicely laid back shoulder. Nicely made throughout and in good muscular condition, moves well.

2nd LEWIS’S ROONARD TINY DANCER. On another day would swap places with 1, 3 year old b/t female, lovely head, good front and rear, ribs ok, nice firm topline, moves well, nicely handled. Just not quite the balance of 1.

3rd WARD-BLOWER’S WHITEWEBBS TITANIA

1st WATKINSON’S LOGGETA BOOM AND BUST. Quality bitch who really took the eye, typical head nice dark eye and pigment, good length of neck into nicely placed shoulder; nice forechest with good front and nice feet, ribbed well enough back with a firm topline and well muscled rear which she uses to advantage on the move. (BOB)

2nd CROSS’S LOGGETA PICKLED LILY JW. Lovely b/t bitch, super feminine head and nicely made throughout, ribs going well back and strong loin giving nice level topline, angled nicely at rear with nice parallel hocks; moves out well.

3rd BULLIS’S AMAFFREY TRULY SCRUMPTIOUS.

1st BLACK’S BOTHLYN BACK IN BLACK BASSODON. A lot to like about this young chap, nice masculine head with super dark eye, front assembly is ok, still to come together and develop but presents a nice profile; good topline and moves well with plenty of animation. (BPIB)

Class 119 : Post Graduate (3,0,3)

1st MACFARLAN’S BASSODON MINERVA. Mature bitch, nice feminine head, good dark eye giving a delightful expression. Well presented in good coat. Sufficient length of neck into good shoulder, front is ok, bodied well, moderately angled at rear. Moved well. (RBOB)

2nd WARD-BLOWER’S WHITEWEBBS JONNY BE GOOD AT WILLOWMIST. 2 yr male, a lot to like head is ok, sufficient neck, front is good, ribbed nicely back, firm topline and well muscled rear, coat needs attention and not really settled today on the move.

3rd TAYLOR’S WHITE WEBBS THE POWER OF LOVE.

1st MACFARLAN’S GRANHOWARD LILLY. Mature bitch, feminine, typical head with good eye and expression, nice strong neck into well laid shoulder, good forechest, nice front and good feet; well bodied throughout. Excels on the move with plenty of attitude, reach and drive. (BOB)

2nd TAYLOR’S WHITE WEBBS EARTH ANGEL. 2 yr bitch, a lot to like. Correct head, feminine. Nicely made throughout, well ribbed and good strong loin giving correct level topline. Good feet. In muscular condition, move and handled well.

3rd WARD BLOWER’S WHITEWEBBS JONNY BE GOOD AT WILLOWMIST.

1st PASKINS’ TERRITORIA LUBVI VESNA AT KINDEACE. 6 years mature bitch, feminine head, nice dark eye, good front assembly, good ribs, nice level topline, lovely coat and condition. Moved well.

2nd FOLEY’S LOGGETA WYNN BY MYLES. Young bitch of a different mould to 1, heavier throughout. Head is ok, nice dark eye, ribs ok but not the topline or movement of 1, she was carrying a a bit of weight today.

1st CROSS’S CH LOGGETA TROUBLE IN TEXAS. Masculine, S/R male of 3 years. In his prime and a lot to like. Masculine head with correct proportions and nice dark eye; balanced profile on the stack and well made throughout, in good muscular condition and outmoved the others. (BOB)

2nd PASKINS’ KINDEACE TEXAS RANGER. Another good male, masculine with a good head, eye, nice length of neck, font is ok, ribs ok and musculed at the rear. Moves well but not the reach and drive of 1. (RBOB)

1st GASKIN’S DOVESTREAM JAMAICA ME BAD Lovely young male, good shape in profile. Masculine head, nice muscular neck into well placed shoulder, good forechest and front, good ribbing and length of back, nicely angled, muscled at rear and moves with plenty of reach and drive.

2nd ALLEN’S ZORADEN JEIMA PUDDLE DUCK. Nice b/t bitch, 10 mnths and presents a nice balanced profile; correct head, good dark eye, nice front assembly and bodied nicely throughout, nicely angled at rear. Moves well but preferred the reach and drive of 1.

3rd COX’S BULLDAXIT SECRET LOVE

Class 125 : Post Graduate : (2,0,2)

1st GASKIN’S DOVESTREAM WOTZIT ALL ABOUT. Another promising male from this kennel and I see litter brother to the puppy winner. Good head, nice dark eye, good front and nicely developed forechest, ribbed well back and nice strong loin, good angles at rear. For me he is more settled than his litter brother. (RBOB & BPIB)

2nd COX’S DOVESTREAM BLACK RUSSIAN AT DACHSINBULL. Mature 2 yrs male, b/t. Correct head, muscular neck, front is ok but a little upright in shoulder. Good bone, ribs ok, muscular read with well let down hocks. Moves okay.

Class 126 : Open : (4,2,2)

1st GASKIN’S DOVESTREAM WHO KILLKENNY. Masculine dog who looks the part when stacked; lovely masculine hear with lovely proportions and lovely eye shape. Well made throughout, nice forechest, ribbing well back and strong loin giving level topline and a good underline. Muscular and this shows when on the move; driving from the rear. (B0B)

2nd HALL’S BENSARKA LITTLE WHITE DOVE TAF. Mature 3 yr female; of a different mould to 1. Feminine head but would prefer a little more strength in muzzle. Front is ok and has sufficient bone but carrying a little weight over the shoulder which spoils her profile and shows on the move.

1st COVERLEY’S AVENTINE AUNT PATIENCE. Promising youngster, exuberant and plenty of character. Feminine head, nice dark eye and cheekiest of expression, muscular neck into nicely laid shoulder. Good forechest and front with good feet. Good coat, presented well. Nicely bodied throughout and nice muscular rear, moving well. (BPIB)

2nd MAES-JONES & BATES’S DEROCHAISE BLUE DANUBE. Another promising youngster and a lot to like. Lovely balanced profile; masculine head of correct proportions, nice strong neck and good front assembly; ribbed well back and nice strong loin giving good topline, nicely angled at rear. Moved well.

3rd COX’S HOPEWOOD QUE SERA SERA AVEC BULLDAXIT

1st COVERLEY’S AVENTINE DOLCETTO. Mature 4 yrs bitch; presenting a lovely balanced profile when stacked; Feminine head; good proportions, nie length of neck and well placed shoulders; good forechest and front, nice tight feet. Ribbed well back and good firm topline. Muscular at reach with well let down hocks. Nice harsh coat. Moves with reach and drive, nothing exaggerated, in lovely condition (BOB & Group 3)

2nd OSBOURNE’S DEROCHAISE VINCENZO DI BRAEGO. Mature 3 yrs male; correct head with nice dark eye. Sufficient neck and good shoulder placement; well bodied throughout and keeping a nice firm topline, good angulation at rear and in nice hard muscular condition; good coat. Moves nicely, covering the ground. Presented well and handled well, just losing out on overall balance on the move. (RBOB).

1st CATHARELL’S CH FAAFAC FREE N’EASY JW SHCM (Rhodesian Ridgeback) 7 yrs male, masculine and in profile standing well over the ground. Nice head with good length of neck into nicely laid shoulder; straight front with ample bone and good feet. Well bodied throughout and in great hard condition which showed on the move; moves out and back well and keeps a nice level topline on the move.

2nd JANSONS & WILSON’S HAMILTONHILL DISNEY PYE TO NIXOPHEL (Whippet) 7 yrs male, nice masculine dog in profile; good head proportions, nice dark eye and good ears; strong muscular neck and nice clean shoulder; good front and ribbed well back, strong and muscular at rear and moves well, handled well.

HOUND GROUP

A lovely group of hounds and some beautiful dogs leaving the ring. It was a long sunny and windy day and for some it was a bit much; I was delighted with my winners. Group 1 : COX’S CH CARLINCOX PURE GOLD JW Rhodesian Ridgeback 3 yrs female. Lovely feminine bitch presented to perfection; in profile covers the ground with balance. Nice to go over and in excellent muscular condition and on the move she was foot perfect coming and going delighted to see her go BIS. Group 2 : ALLEN’S LOLANI MOCHA MARTINI AT ZORADEN Whippet 2 yrs female red / white bitch. Super feminine, good head with correct proportions and nice dark eye; good length of neck and well developed chest; lovely to go over and she moves well and with super rapport with her handler. Group 3 : COVERLEY’S AVENTINE DOLCETTO St Wire Haired Dachshund, 4 yrs female, presenting a lovely balanced profile when stacked; Feminine head; good proportions, nie length of neck and well placed shoulders; good forechest and front, nice tight feet. Ribbed well back and good firm topline. Muscular at reach with well let down hocks. Nice harsh coat. Moves with reach and drive, nothing exaggerated, in lovely condition. Group 4 : CARRINGTON’S BUSHWACKER OCEANS ELEVEN Basenji, 2 yrs male. Mature 2 year tricolour male. Balanced in profile; good head, nice dark eye giving correct expression, using his ears well. Muscular neck into well laid shoulder, good forelegs and feet. In good condition, muscular and moderate at rear. Moves with correct swinging action, keeping topline at all times. Lovely dog, presented and handled well.

HOUND PUPPY GROUP

Some promising youngsters which must surely bode well for the future. Group 1 : CROSS & BLACK’S RIOWOOD RED BOOTS Min Smooth Haired Dachshund, 8 mnths male. This exuberant youngster caught my eye as soon as he came in the ring, lovely profile; balanced and with a good topline and underline. Excellent head, dark eye and the cheekiest of expression. Nice forechest, good front assembly, excellent feet, nicely ribbed back with strong loin. Well developed for age, nicely muscled at rear giving him plenty of reach and drive. Group 2 : SHEPPARD’S GAELMARQUE TREASURED BY GOLDSWIFT Ir Wolfhound, 11 mnths female. Super feminine, presents a lovely profile. Lovely head and expression and with nice strong neck into well placed shoulder, she has ample bone, good forechest and plenty of depth of chest. Well bodied and moderate at rear but muscular and she moves with plenty of reach and drive covering the ground. Group 3 : CUTTER & LUBIN’S INA’S FASHION FINEST OF CHOSOVI (IMP DEU) Greyhound, 10 mnths female. Lovely, elegant bitch with the darkest of eye, typical head of correct proportions and strong and muscular throughout with nice deep chest. Group 4 : HUNT’S DUFOSEE IYLA AT BONDLEA Beagle, 11 months female. tricolour bitch, nice compact bitch, feminine head with nice eye and correct soft expression. Muscular neck into good shoulders; nice straight front with good bone and feet. Well bodied, nice strong loin and muscular rear. Moves well coming and going; keeping topline at all times and good tail carriage.
