BORDER COLLIES (Breed Supported Entry: Scottish Border Collie Club)

 JUDGE: DIANE STEWART-RITCHIE

PUPPY (4:2)

1st: Walker. RAVENSKIRK PRETTY IN PINK. This girl has the most beautiful head and eye. Fairly broad in skull, enough cheek and short strong muzzle, well balanced with good stop. Dark eye of oval shape with keen alert expression. She is straight and true in front when viewed from the front and has good angulation throughout her front assembly. Deep in rib which are also long and well sprung, through to strong muscular loin. Broad and muscular over the croup which is strong and well set. Well angulated quarters with plenty width. Short from hock to heel. Sound away and back. Best Puppy in Breed

2nd: Walker. RAVENSKIRK BROWN EYED GIRL. Pleasing head but just not the total quality of her litter sister at this point. A shade steep in shoulder but she has some upper arm, good ribbing and with enough development in hindquarters, just needs to strengthen up. Moved okay.

JUNIOR (7:2)

1st: Macdonald. ROMIODOR MIZZ DYNAMITE (B) Res. Best of Breed. Good size and shape, not overdone in any way. She stands on good bone and feet. Excellent in quarters. She has well sprung, long ribs of good depth. She is a smart mover and was very pleasing on the around with typical head carriage, keeping her level top line as she went. Res. Best of Breed.

2nd: Emery. STARSIDE WANNA HAVE FUN AT FLORAUNA (B). Typy well- made bitch who is well angulated fore and aft. I particularly liked her length of upper arm showing good reach as she went on the around. She is in good coat and good condition. Level topline with good croup. Would prefer a shade darker eye. She is really well put together, but I found her not quite balanced enough for me through body depth to leg length.

3RD: Kempton. CLAN-ABBY FLY ME TO BORDERBROOK (Imp. Aus)

GRADUATE: (4:1)

1st: Kempton. CLAN-ABBY FLY ME TO BORDERBROOK (Imp. Aus). This young merle boy was solid, well boned with good feet. Had good front angulation, ribbing and strength in quarters. He has good length of back but I would prefer a shade more angulation to his croup. He does move well but I found his shape not as curvy as I would prefer.

2nd: Emery. FLORAUNA WHEN I LIVE MY DREAM.Pleasing head, dark eye good expression. Not quite as balanced, leg length to body depth as is my preference. Level topline with good croup and tail set. Would prefer a shade more angulation in front and I found him not as true as I would have hoped for. Moved quite well on the around, however, could do with a shade more conditioning to strengthen.

3RD: Macdonald. BIRKCROSS RED RED WINE AT GAULSBAY (b)

POST GRADUATE (4:2)

1st: Walker. MIRAJE JUST BECAUSE AT RAVENSKIRK. Quite an appealing girl who carries herself really well on the around, maintaining her strong top-line and carriage as she goes. She is moderately angulated front and rear with no excess. I liked that she was short from hock to heel. Quality bone, good feet. She has a pleasing head with good expression and ample use of her ears.

2nd: Kempton. CLAN-ABBY FLY ME TO BORDERBROOK (Imp. Aus) See Graduate report

LIMIT: (3:1)

These two, although opposite sexes were from totally different styles. Each had things to like and for me overall balance just tipped the edge to first.

1st: Jones. WINDWALKER WALK ME HOME TO SIANWORTH. A good mover, who is nicely balanced. Straight and true in front. Deep well sprung ribs through to strong loin. Good in quarters. Good length and width of croup and well set tail. Sound out and back and well presented today.

2nd: Kempton. BORDERBROOK WINTER SUNSET JW. Level topline and presented in excellent condition. This 21 month girl is well presented, well put together in front assembly. Good spring and depth of rib just a shade longer in loin and good in quarters. Good proportions through depth to leg length. Standing on good bone and feet. Well handled.

Open (5:1)

1ST: Kempton. BORDERBROOK FAME OR FORTUNE. This girl is very well put together and carries herself beautifully on the around. She is presented here today in the best of coat and condition and I found her to be extremely typy. She has a good head shape, although a shade lighter in eye for my preference. Straight and true in front with good angulation corresponding length of scapula to humerus. She is well ribbed back, strong and well-muscled in loin and is well developed in the rear. She is balanced front and rear and with good proportions body depth to leg length as well as height to body length. She is most typical on the move and is sound out, back and quite delightful on the around, keeping the desired head carriage. As she went there were times that I caught glimpses of her where she exemplified exactly what she was bred to do. Best of Breed

2nd: Macdonald. LOCHEIL LOVE HEART (b).Pleasing head with good expression. Clean and dry in muzzle. Good stop. Good eye colour and use of ears. Well ribbed. Short from hock to heel. Moved well on the around.

3rd: Turner. Macdonald & Alexander. LEKKOU LET IT BE ME AT LOCHEIL (Imp RU)
