Otley Canine Society

Otley Canine Society

Open Show – 2nd August 2022

What an absolutely brilliant show this is! The world-class Otley team make sure no stone is left unturned when they organise this spectacular event. I was able to go and see the site before anything had been done; quite how such a small team managed to pull it together into the resplendent show venue that it was, by Tuesday morning, I will never know! Thank you for making my day extremely enjoyable and very memorable, and thank you to all of the exhibitors who made the brilliant atmosphere very apparent all day. There were many wonderful dogs to judge, and the weather even played ball – well, most of the time. I’m fairly certain that by the end of the show I had an honours degree in gazebo assembly and dismantlement!

YKC Members Handling

What a spectacularly talented group of young handlers across all three classes, which were each a pleasure to judge. All of the handlers today were courteous and respectful, both of the judge, their dog, and their peers. This is most certainly the strongest handling classes I have ever had the pleasure to judge and all of the handlers competing should be immensely proud of themselves. Well done!

6-11

1 ELIZA DARWESH - age 9 handling an exuberant young Labrador puppy, and what a great team they make! Eliza skillfully piloted her dog to execute all the moves I asked of her precisely, whilst talking to and encouraging her young dog all the time. If this handler continues in this way, she will be extremely successful in the future. One I would confidently give any of my dogs to handle.

2 CHARLOTTE RUTHERFORD - age 11. What a talented young handler who got everything spot on, and another who worked really well with her dog. Sympathetic and kind, whilst being accurate and precise. A very good job indeed and a very good placing in this strong class.

3 EMILY WHITEHEAD - age 11. This handler just needs to add a few finishing touches to her performance to get it absolutely perfect. She made a really superb job of handling her young vizsla, which are not an easy breed to get the best from. A future top winner I am sure.

12-17

1 DAISY MASON - age 16 – headed up this excellent class of talented handlers with an absolutely flawless performance. Her dog was set up perfectly each time, and she moved her at the correct pace. They worked together as a great team which is so important. Technically spot on, and used every inch of the ring to her advantage to judge edge ahead of - 2, WILLOW JOHNSON - age 16 – who was very close up to the winner indeed and is another very talented handler. A brilliant job, and a tough decision between 1st and 2nd. These two handlers were a pleasure to watch working with their dogs.

3 ERIN WILLIAMS - age 17 – another good round from this handler, just needing a little work on sharpening up corners, but that is a very minor criticism.

18-24

1 BRYONY FOSSETT. Foot perfect handling with her dachshund, Bryony did a skilled and professional job from start to finish. All of her manoeuvres were executed slickly and with professionalism, working extremely well with her dog at all times. First class handling.

2 SHANIA BAILEY, who did a great job handling a large Bullmastiff whom I understand she only met just before going in the ring! Demonstrated skill in her movements and has obvious talent for being able to work well with a new dog.

Handling Classes

6 – 11

1 ELIZA DARWESH & 2 CHARLOTTE RUTHERFORD. This was a tough decision as both were 1 & 2 in the YKC class, so I added in an extra request for each of them, which they both executed very well indeed. There was little to separate! Charlotte was just a little hurried in setting up her dog at the end, and needs to stay nice and calm to finish off her stacking to best effect. Well done to both of you!

12-16

1 DAISY MASON & 2 WILLOW JOHNSTON, again both were in the same placings in the YKC class and both performed perfectly here. A tough decision which could have gone either way!

3 SCARLETT COSTELLO, handling a pug, who made a really smashing job of this often stubborn breed!

17+

1 BRYONY FOSSETT, who continued to impress with another flawless performance in this class, and carried on giving her all to take Best Handler.

2 DEBRA KAY giving an excellent round with her JRT, excellent performance from start to finish working very well with her dog at all times. Executed all moves with accuracy and had a great relationship with her dog.

3 WENDY SMITH.

Retriever (Flat Coated)

P (1) 1 Gloi Dubh Kristofer Robin. What an exciting youngster, I thought very highly of him and will watch his progress with interest. Grand head, super forehand construction and balanced in hind angles. Has good balance of leg length to body depth already, and holds his topline firmly both standing and moving. He is well muscled and growing on really nicely. Moved out extremely well to take a well deserved RBoB & BP.

PG (4,1) 1 Vynesbrook Deja Bleu. Shapely feminine b with a clean and tidy outline. Liked her balance of head and muzzle, and strength in neck and topline. She has good shoulders and a well balanced hindquarter. Gave her very best on the move in this class to win it. 2 Steelriver Hit The Beach With Buckleyhill. Lovely type and a good make, with substance yet strength. Liked his head and expression. Liked his balance of leg to body length A little untidy coming towards today which cost him the class. 3 Gloi Dubh Just One Look

O 1 Rodsdream First Choice For Vynesbrook. Very impressive outline on this d, and he didn’t disappoint on the move. Overall his outline and balance are spot on, he is fit and up for the job and enjoying every minute of it in the ring. His exuberance just added to his showmanship. He is well balanced fore and aft, and moderate in construction all through. On the move he really goes some, covering plenty of ground with ease, BoB.

2 Gloi Dubh Illusion JW. Exuberant young lady, who thoroughly enjoyed herself! Longer cast than the winner and as such wasn’t as firm in topline. Stands up on good feet and moved out with drive from her hocks.

Retriever (Golden)

P (8,2) 1 Goldmarker Coming Home To Garvin (AI). Well grown mid gold d who looks to be shaping up very nicely. He is strongly made throughout but with balance and nothing to excess. Presented in first class order, he used his balance of angles to great advantage on the move and produced a sound economic gait. Stands on good feet and presented in first class order, BP. 2 Firey Dancing Queen. Lovely clean typical outline on this usefully constructed b, close up to the winner and another with great promise. 3 Tenfield Sparkling Sunrise

Y (10, 4) 1 Drumkilty Vanadium. What a cracking young d and an exciting prospect. Appeals in head for balance of skull and muzzle, with plenty of work already. His dark pigment sets off his beautiful expression from dark eyes. His strong neck leads smoothly into a well placed shoulder, firm level topline, and along to a well set on tail. Excels in correct proportion of leg length to body length. Produced an excellent action when asked to move, with accuracy of footfall and length of stride. Appeared to take himself up a level when it came to the challenge and claimed BoB today with his skilled handler. 2 Gloi You Make Loving Fun. Smaller make all through on this tidy b, and she has many positive breed attributes to admire. Very fit and active in her outlook, I would just prefer her to come up on the leg a little for more balance. 3 Tsarmont Starlet

L (7,3) 1 Brekswood Lady Eleanor. A very decent and honest sort of correct balanced construction and without exaggeration. She has a lovely head, and all through she is a picture of moderation which greatly appeals. Moved the best away and back in this class, as she is very tidy in her footfall. RBoB. 2 Gloi You Make Loving Fun. 3 Auristela Lady Luck At Lamhryn.

O (9,4) Quite a mixture in this class with a huge difference in height, and length of body. 1 Quakerhall Lady Bountiful By Brekswood JW. Felt this 5yo b was the best overall on the move, as she held her outline well when asked to go around. Appeals in eyes and ears, and has good pigment. Stands on excellent feet and presented in good order. 2 Gold Totem Ma Belle (Imp Rus). Has a good head and pigment, a little longer and lower then the winner which is where 1 scored. 3 Gloi Unchained Melody JW.

Retriever (Labrador)

P (5,3) 1 Harrop Rumour Has It. Just a youngster fresh out the box and new to it all, but putting on a good showing and demonstrating that wonderful temperament of this breed. Head needs time to develop, but the basics of construction are there and he has a decent coat and tail, and stands on good feet. 2 Malchiek Naruto Of Elizad. Large well grown dog with plenty of size and substance about him. Presented in really fit condition and standing on the best of feet. Another showing very well and with an endearing happy character.

J (3) 1 Potterzuri Wanda Vision. Has femininity all through, yet strength and enough substance without being too much. Looked athletic and capable of a job of work. Has a good head, well laid shoulder, and strong enough in topline. Tail is well set and carried and hocks are well let down. Just needs to come up a fraction on the leg to even up her proportions. RBOB. 2 Ebeshb Mistress Of Magic. Chocolate b who didn’t have much enthusiasm for the job today sadly, and could use her ears and tail a little better – perhaps the weather wasn’t to her liking, as it did affect some. Liked her construction and balance, nothing exaggerated, and is well ribbed back. Standing on excellent feet, she moved out with composure and steadiness. 3 Potterzuri Chip Of The Old Block

Y (2) 1 Potterzuri Wanda Vision. 2 Potterzuri Chip Of The Old Block. Young d growing on well but rather at an inbetween stage. Head needs to break and come on, and his nails could do with some attention. Has a strong topline, good tail, and well let down hocks.

PG (1) 1 Oakhouse On Show At Ebeshb. This is a really b, presented in peak condition – it is always a pleasure to judge fit dogs, and this dogs fitness shone through in her enthusiasm for the job, too. Liked her eye colour and shape giving her that correct kindly expression. Has strength in topline and well developed first and second thigh.

L (4,1) 1 Shaymiloney Schinus Afinmore. Muscular, strong, and all male, this d was presented in first class order, in good coat, skin, muscle, short nails, and clearly afforded plenty of quality exercise. He has strength and masculinity throughout, and with many breed attributes. 2 Potterspiney Silas JW This d appealed in outline and head, however didn’t seem to have that will to please today. Lots of positives, I would like to see him on a day when he’d got out the right side of bed, as he has lots of positive breed points but he didn’t want to show them off to advantage today. 3 Ebeshb Flora's Spring

O (1) 1 Beskerby Pageant. What a smart upstanding d, full of breed type, and well constructed fore and aft with balance all through. Appeals in head balance with eyes and ears of good set and shape. Strong neck leading to long shoulder, strong level topline, and correct wide loin. Has correct barrel rib and was presented in good order without excess condition. Sound, well constructed quarters with low hocks enabled a strong driving action when asked to move. BoB.

Poodle (Standard)

P (3) 1 Aclayre's Heavenly Shadow. This d really appealed to me, he was just like a young colt – so full of himself and up for the job, buzzing with that poodle attitude and taking everything in his stride. Appeals in head with chin developing well, has lengthy leathers and eyes which scream mischief! Grand sort to go over, balanced fore and aft and well ribbed in between. As his attitude would suggest, he comes alive on the move, nothing was to phase him in today’s blustery conditions. Has plenty of well textured coat which was very well presented, and to top it all off his was fit and hard. Pleased to award him BoB and to see him go on and collect honours in the adult group and also claim PG1. Good luck! 2 Dawnbloom Pebble Of The Nile. Neat feminine b of a good sort with plenty of breed type – she could just do with a touch of 1’s enthusiasm for the job! Immaculately presented jacket, standing on good feet, in good body and muscle condition, and moving on a sound easy stride. 3 Elzekiel

PG (5,1) 1 Aclayre's Heavenly Shadow 2 Sterlingway Astronaughty. Very well presented b in grand order. Appeals in head which has length and strength, with dark expressive eyes. Has the advantage of being balanced in angulations at both ends, which showed in her tidy movement. 3 Belleazure Astra

O (3,1) 1 Achara Girl On Fire. Smaller sized feminine b with a pretty head. Has excellent pigment, well developed chin and dark glinting eyes. Good to go over, she is presented in mint condition throughout, and has good front and rear angles with balance and moderation. Moved out with tidy footfall, however the weather didn’t appear to be to her advantage in the challenge where she tucked herself under and didn’t want to show to best advantage. As one can only judge on the day, she had to settle for RBoB. 2 Belleazure Astra. Another feminine b who was, again, well presented, which makes assessment a pleasure. Sweet head, strong in topline and well ribbed back. Produced a decent action when asked to move.

Dalmatian

P (2) 1 Bellehoud Tipple At Portunes. Sweet young b who was very settled to her job and put on an excellent performance. She appeals all through for strength with femininity, balance without excess, and was presented in first class order. 2 Tolkain Caliban. A bit behind 1 in terms of development, this d was considerable less mature than the winner and giving a bit away in his development at present. He stands up well on strong legs and good feet, and was presented in excellent order with good coat and muscle.

PG (8,4) This class was a challenge as some weren’t making their best effort to show to advantage – and you can only judge on the day! 1 Perdita's Aurelia. A decent sort, soundly made and well constructed with balance fore and aft. Liked her length and width of skull and balance of foreface with moderate stop. Has correct high ears and oval eyes off good colour which gave her a super expression. Has the advantage of being balanced fore and aft which showed when standing and when moving. Needs time to body up and fill in a bit, but won this class on her settled free action with lengthy sound stride. 2 Dalpetro Dotty. Appeals greatly in outline when stood up, as she has the balance and symmetry in construction, happy temperament, obvious glow of health, and with well defined spots. Liked her head balance, eyes, ears, and expression. Didn’t want to work with her handler today at all, despite being given a couple of chances, and rather spoilt herself on the move. 3 Miragua Heart To Heart

O (4,1) 1 Perditas Anastasia At Manchando. Typy sort with a nice shapely clean outline when stood up. She is well made throughout and scores in all departments. Has length and strength of neck, is clean over the shoulders and strong in topline, and correct in height to length ratios. Superbly muscled she moved out with soundness of stride and great ground coverage. BoB. 2 Thearrix One Thing Only. Younger and rangier young d who gave a bit away in age. Put on a great performance and was presented and handled very well. 1 just scored in shoulder placement. 3 Bellili's D'amore De Loin

Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Disappointing to see that neither the BoB nor BP stayed to represent their breed in the respective groups.

P (1) 1 Skyland Eruption. Clean headed young b with pleasing outline. Liked her overall head and eye shape, and general outline. Has a well laid shoulder with desired width, straight front and strong pasterns. Strong level topline leads to a very well muscled rear which she used to advantage on the move. BP.

Pg (5,2) 1 Scoutor Rogue One. Liked this smartly made young d, who is coming to his best. He had an endearing character, full of verve and confidence. From his dark round eyes come a keen expression, with some mischief, and a lot of life. Soundly made fore and aft he has a useful balance of angles and strength throughout. Liked his skin coat and muscular condition too. A very decent mover with agility of gait and strong drive. BoB. 2 Hatson Getting Away With It. As 1 was masculine in outlook, this b was appropriately feminine in her outlook. Her head appealed particularly for size, strength, and balance. Just preferred the topline of 1 today, RBoB. 3 Valglo Deja Vu At Scoutor

O (3, 1) 1 Scoutor Rogue One. 2 Hatson Getting Away With It.

Border Terrier

P (7) What a super class of youngsters. 1 Raedwulf Daybreak. Really smart young chap with a smashing outline already. Liked his head and expression, eyes, small ears, and balance of skull to muzzle. Has a good lay of shoulder giving a good neck length and clean wither. Well ribbed back he is strong in topline too. Tail is well set on. Moves out with confidence and ground cover, combined with accuracy of footfall. One for the future! BP. 2 Raedwulf Nightfall. Rather different in outline to 1, but with many merits. Longer cast than the winner and needs to settle down to use his tail better, but a useful sort with many positives. 3 Lynsett Miss Molly.

G (8,2) 1 Raedwulf Daybreak. 2 Raedwulf Nightfall. 3 Pipruda Dark Rum at Beckholm.

L (2) These two were a bit of a mixture with varying attributes between the two of them. In the end the positive attitude and strength in quarters of 1, Raedwulf Mata Hari edged her ahead of 2, Otterwood Aura, who has better shoulders but didn’t want to use herself to advantage today.

O (3) 1 Ch Brumberhill Backatcha. Stood away from the competition – right up until he took BIS later in the day! This is a fabulous dog. Wonderful to appreciate on the table, great to get hands on, and excellent on the move. Smashing headpiece with strength and length in jaw. He is well constructed at both ends, nothing is exaggerated, and everything just fits right. He flows together neatly and is balanced in his angles for and aft which is evident when standing and when in motion. On the go around he is absolutely sound and rhythmic in his action, covering plenty of ground with minimal effort and accurate tidy footfall. Presented in first class condition, he just couldn’t be denied. A credit to his ultra talented breeder and handler, I was delighted to award him BoB, G1 & BIS. 2 Goldenmill Illusion at Vandamere. Liked the overall shape of this b, who particularly appealed in topline, length of upper arm and her excellent muscletone throughout. Another who is a usefully constructed sort with many breed attributes. 3 Bordergold Rudoph at Beckholm.

Norfolk Terrier

P (2) I thought the two youngsters in this class showed a lot of promise and each had many positives, which were difficult to split. Liked their heads, front and rear angles, ribbing, legs, and feet, however I just felt 1 was a little more forward in development at this stage, 1 Watercroft Cuckoo Waltz, 2 Javidel Handmayds Tale.

O (5) 1 Watercroft Crafty Tipple. Presented the smartest outline in this good class, and was really up for the job with an impression of a fearless attitude! Liked her head a lot with good width, depth, and strength, clean dark eyes, and well shaped ears. Constructional soundness throughout, with balance and moderation which in turn produced a very sound action on the move with tidy accurate footfall and strong drive from her powerful quarters. BoB & G4. 2 Nordalset Destiny’s Child. This is a quality d who needs to do a bit of training and whom handler needs to get to grips with a little more. Presents a smart and typical outline, with useful balance of angles. Moved out very well. RBoB.

Manchester Terrier

P (1) 1 Hurrockheath Miss Emmeline. Shapely youngster just getting to know her job but would do with a little work to build her confidence in the ring. She had a decent head of balance, strong topline and is well ribbed. Produced a sound action behind when moving away. BP & RBoB.

O (1) 1 Digelsa Dark Velvet. 1 A very tidily made, sound, honest sort, with lots of breed attributes to admire. Excellent neck, topline, croup, and tailset. She is feminine but with enough strength throughout. Moved out well, and presented in fit order, but nails could do with a trim. BoB.

Norwich Terrier

P (3, 1) 1 Elantiz Angels & Demons. This is a smart young b with lots of potential, which a lovely prospect! Well made throughout I liked her balance in angulation at both ends, good ribbing in between, and overall shape. Head appeals with balance of skull and muzzle lengths, has good ears and expressive eyes. Moved out with confidence, kicking up her heels. BP. 2 Javidel Smart Girls Dnt Talk. This is a really lovely youngster with lots of appeal, however just wasn’t as forward as the winner today, despite there being little between them age wise. Lovely head and presented in perfect order, she will be one to watch.

PG (2) 1 Elantiz This Is Me. What a tidy b, so smart and up for the job. Keen attitude, and correct and useful construction throughout. The overall outline is very Norwich, and the whole package is neat and compact with a useful balance of angles fore and aft. 2 Elantiz Verde. This smart looking young man just wasn’t up for it today, and didn’t want to play ball. Needs a bit of work to get his head into the job.

O (2,1) 1 Javidel Walk In The Park. What a smart young d, and doesn’t he know it! He is full of charm and character, whilst being very nicely made indeed, and to top it all – beautifully presented. Grand head with strength of jaw. Strong clean neck and well laid shoulder, leading to a strong topline with long ribcage beneath. Has excellent width behind, and is strong in his hock with well developed first and second thigh. Super mover with parallel neat action. BoB.

Jack Russell Terrier

P (2,1) 1 Blazingjacks Best Mate with Jackopeaks. Nicely headed young d with a keen expression. Was presented in superb condition, and good coat. Easily spannable on the table, he moved out with a confident attitude to take BP.

PG (4,2) 1 Jackopeaks This Is Me. Smooth coated d who was the more confident in attitude of the two in this class. Another who was presented in really great condition, one could tell he is clearly afforded plenty of exercise as this was evident in his muscle tone throughout when going over him. A good mover who holds his topline particularly well standing and moving. RBoB. 2 Hunterhawk John Mcenroe. A shade longer in body and lower in leg than the winner, he lacks confidence and needs work. In good coat and condition, with strength in rear.

O (1) 1 Fast Love With Locheil. Tidy useful sort of a d with good construction throughout. Typical in outline, he was nice to handle on the table, spannable, and presented in great coat and condition. Has an excellent shape throughout with balance and moderation, strength and straightness of limbs. Moved out very well indeed using his construction to advantage to produce a correct, sound, strong action both going around and away and back. BoB.

AVNSC Terrier

P (3,2) 1 Ruarokatiro Lollipop with Bareve. This is a real smasher, and I found her so equally correct and captivating that she claimed BNSC, G2, PG1, and later in the day RBPIS. She has excellent construction all through which is evident from the fact she can’t stand wrong. Super head with good length and balance of skull to muzzle, and strength in jaw. Clean neck and well laid shoulders lead on to a strong level topline and long well spring ribs. Has the desired moderation of angles behind, with well developed first and second thighs, and stands on tidy feet. On the move she has the freedom of action with that spring in her step as she goes around, and her lively attitude just takes her up a gear. Superbly presented and handled, I’m sure she will do a lot of serious winning.

PG (1) 1 Shielmarh Fortuna Forseer. Medium sized Airedale who seemed a bit overawed by the occasion and rather lacked the presence and showmanship one would expect from this breed. Nice to go over, she is well made and very well presented. Sound away and back on the move, she has a good width of thigh and well let down hocks.

O (2,1) 1 Ch Danchester’s Can You Hear Me Roar for Bonnybeck. Very typical Dandie with a lovely outline. Super head and eyes, with good foreface and strong jaws. Well angled fore and aft, she has the desired balance and nothing to excess. Lovely to handle on the table, however was a little disappointing on the move as she seemed very tired and somewhat lethargic, which meant she had to bend her paw for Best NSC to younger more eager counterparts today.

AV Terrier

J (8,3) 1 Elantiz Angels & Demons. 2 Shielmarh Fortuna Forseer. 3 Raedwulf Nightfall.

O (3,1) 1 Locheil Stop Right There. What a smart JRT, of lovely make and shape. Useful balance of body proportions, with strength and power but nothing to excess. So extremely sound on the move, coming from that ultra-soundness in construction all through. 2 Nordalset Destiny’s Child.

V (6,1) What a superb class of oldies, all of which were credible representatives of each of their breeds. Well done to their owners for bringing them all in such great order. 1 Winning Colours at Duchmorn. Very smart WFT with an upstanding outlook and keen attitude. Presents quite a striking outline on the table, and certainly doesn’t disappoint on the move either! Very well presented. 2 Montravia Kit Kat to Rodale. Close up, sparky JRT with wonderful attitude. Just not quite so together and settled on the move today. 3 Nordalset Little Bit of Sun for Ivrig.

Terrier Group

A super group with all of the best of breeds present putting on a good performance to represent their breeds. The weather had improved by the time we were judging the group, which suited most of the dogs all the better, and we were afforded a larger ring to really make everyone work for it!

G1 went to the outstanding Border Terrier, who can’t stand wrong and never stopped showing, closely followed by the superb young Australian Terrier who must have a very exciting career ahead of her. Into G3 came the sound and smart JRT, who just edged ahead of the lovely Norfolk BoB who claimed G4.

Next came the puppies, and there was nothing to stop the Australian Terrier, who had been group 2, topping this line up of exciting youngsters. 2nd went to the Border, who – whilst just a youngster – has so much type and promise. The lovely Norwich claimed group 3 as she was still moving out with verve and soundness after a long day, followed by the Smooth Fox Terrier Bokma Kirie at Borovale, who was still young and raw but so full of type and life she could not be denied. Liked her headpiece, clean dry outline, and strength in action on the move. Good luck for the future to all of these exciting youngsters!

Best In Show

After a long but hugely enjoyable day it was time to judge best in show, in the huge ring in the middle of the showground with a large audience who had stuck around to watch the culmination of the show. The sun was shining, everyone was having a great time, and there was a fantastic atmosphere to round off the day.

Each group winner gave a great account of themselves, and BIS could have been claimed by a variety of contenders right up until the end. Thank you to the other group judges for sending through such worth representatives, and congratulations to all of the group winners with your beautiful dogs.

In the end, Best In Show was claimed by the outstanding Border Terrier Ch Brumberhill Backatcha who continued to show with precision and professionalism right until the end; this excellent dog just could not be denied. Into the reserve spot came the winner of the glorious Lhasa Apso who was presented in first class order, and didn’t disappoint under the coat either. Lovely head of balance, with clean eyes and good ears. Excellent neck leading to well constructed front with straight limbs. Excels in topline and ribbing, leading to strong well muscled quarters. Lovely to watch on the move with elegance and style.

Now on to the puppies who were all a joy to judge, each representing their breeds and groups with great aplomb. The showmanship from each of these top class youngsters was commendable, and their owners should be rightly proud of them all. It was a very difficult decision to make, but in the end I selected the Pomeranian as the winner, Poshdonpoms Donperignon. Top drawer exhibit with a very typical outline and equally endearing character. He is lovely to handle on the table – immaculate presentation is the first thing which strikes you, however under his perfectly tailored coat is a very well balanced, correctly constructed dog, with lovely angulation, ribbing, and sufficient width – there is plenty of dog in this neat little package! Moved out with a keen attitude and air of arrogance, defying anyone to beat him, and they couldn’t today – BPIS was his! Close up to this sassy little pom was the equally vivacious Australian Terrier whom I had awarded the puppy group to earlier in the day. She challenged him all the way and never put a foot wrong, so claimed a very credible RBPIS.

Next up were the veterans, and whilst not all groups were represented each of those forward were worthy representatives of their breeds and excellent examples of the longevity of pedigree dogs. Taking the top spot in this line up today however was the outstanding English Setter, Sh Ch Crimbledale Seaing Stars JW. Presenting a class outline, she stood with her nose up in the air and into the wind, knowing she was wonderful. Beautiful head, and balance in construction throughout, she is sound and well made and nothing is exaggerated. On the move, she goes out with such strength, accuracy and vigour, she just could not be denied BVIS.

A great day with great people and great dogs, thank you all for making this judging appointment one to remember.

David R. Alcorn (Judge).
