Great Dane Club

Great Dane Breeders & Owners Association

Many thanks to the GDBOA committee for the invitation to judge their Open show. A good entry on paper and an excellent atmosphere made for a pleasant day.

Overall there was much quality to be found. I was very pleased with both my unbeaten line-ups. The ring size was excellent but the floor was a touch slippy causing some to lose their footing at times. That said, most took full advantage of the space and gave a good performance.

Temperaments were excellent and the well filled puppy classes must bode well for the future.

20/11/22

MPD (7) 1st Vanmore Pass The Buck. Super pup of just 6 months. Fawn of great type and stature, even at his tender age. Good head, neck and front. Pleasing outline. Strong bone and stands on tight feet. Easy mover, still loose, understandably at this stage. Confident pup that enjoyed his debut and shows much promise.

2nd Droolakiss Aladdinsane. Equally promising pup. Squarer in outline that 1st. Well grown with super head. Medium neck. Good angles and body. Excellent mover. Close-up.

3rd Murrayvale My Main Man.

PD (4) 1st Zefather’s Ralph Lauren. Quality fawn. Elegant but masculine, a mature 11 month old pup that looks the part. Strong, long head. Good parallel planes. Reachy, arched neck. Good lay of shoulder and return of upperarm. Strong, quality bone. Shapely outline. Good ribs and firm, muscular loins. Well angled quarters. Tail well set and carried. Moved with reach and drive and coped well with the slippery floor surface. Made and impressive picture. Pleased to award him BPD, BD, RBIS & BPIS.

2nd Novavida Hellboy By Ravendane.Liked this young harle. Good size and impresses with his overall presence. Slightly heavier in head and lip than 1st but not lacking quality. Good reach of neck. Still needs to drop in chest but should come with age. Good angles and an easy, free mover. Super colour and markings.

3rd Busdan Ziva’s Terzo.

JD (1) 1st Tamzdane Empower Mint. Large, impressive mantle. Really eye-catching in outline with markings to match. Very mature in body for his age. Strong head and muzzle with good length and quality. Well set ears. Strong, reachy neck. Excellent front angles. Deep, roomy chest. Strong bone. Well angled rear. In super condition. Excellent mover with plenty of reach and drive. RBD.

YD (2) 1st Devorin Washington Via Leamap. Liked this young black. Still to mature fully but has an excellent outline combining elegance with some strength. Excellent head with parallel planes , tight lip line and well set ears. Good conformation with angles front and back nicely balanced. Good strength of loin. Sound mover, with good reach and drive. Excellent deep black colour and in lovely condition.

PGD (1) 1st Droolakiss Tripe Miner. A fawn of great size and substance. Probably would have benefited from being outside as he couldn’t really get into his stride. That said, he is a well made dog, of good type and has a strong, masculine head. Stands on excellent feet. Quite a character and was in super body condition and muscle tone.

Sp. VD (4) 1st Ch. Ravendane Deal Me In. One I judged and did well as a youngster. Now 6 years old and now carries his well deserved title…congratulations! Deep chest. Excellent topline. Well angled rear. Excellent profile mover, showing scope and soundness. Pleased to see him again looking so well and made a worthy BVIS.

Sp. Open Blue D (2) 1st Busdan Ziva’s Terzo. Excellent temperament and enjoying his day. A promising youngster. Very good head, masculine and has quality. Could have a touch more angulation both ends but is relatively balanced. Holds his topline well for his age. Needs to settle more on the move but is sound.
