Essex & East Anglia Pug Dog Club

Essex & East Anglia Pug Dog Club

13th November 2023

A really pleasant morning judging my favourite Toy breed, the Pug.

A friendly Club with a welcoming committee and great bunch of exhibitors. A very good entry on paper but sadly depleted by absentees. That said, there was quality to be found and I was pleased with both my line-ups.

Thank you to everyone involved for a lovely day!

VD (5) 1st Samhaven Rocket Man At Balthazar. 8 year old dog in super condition, still very fit and active. Good head, large, dark expressive eye. Excellent pigment. Strong neck. Plenty of substance in a compact frame. Holds a firm topline. Good conformation. Moved around the ring with conviction and power and great enthusiasm. BVIS.

2nd Let Me Be The One Of Rosewitch. Another 8 year old boy, also in excellent form for his age. Slightly smaller overall but still masculine in outlook. Pleasing head shape. Firm body, if a bit overweight, compact and a sound, free mover.

MPD (2) 1st Cedilla Medjool. Very promising 7 month old. Excellent shape. Correct head, muzzle and dark eye, full of mischief! Dark pigment. Well set, small ears. Strong neck. Excellent topline. Good ribbing. Balanced angles. High set tail showing desired double twist. Super mover. Just loved him! BPD & BPIS. Hope he fulfils his early promise.

JD (4) 1st Potbelli Limited Edition. Excellent young dog . Loved his compact outline, pleasing size and good bone and substance. Excellent head shape. Fine wrinkles and clean, open nostrils. Well set-on ears, used well. Good neck, plenty of chest room and well made all through. Moved with plenty of reach and drive and sound. Excellent double coat. Must have a great future. RBD.

2nd Myter Solo Surprise. Another really good youngster. Equally pleasing in head, body and size. Not quite the maturity of 1st. Excellent high set tail. Moved out very well, driving off sound hocks.

PGD (4) 1st Taftazini Pastuchovii. Masculine dog of pleasing size. Square head shape with correct skull and muzzle. Large, dark eye. Open nostrils and good ear set and size. Strong neck, deep chest with good angles front and back. Firm topline. Sound mover in all directions. Lovely coat and condition.

2nd Sicorn Not Mr Justlovejoy At Vankonia. Slightly smaller dog and not the body of 1st. He has a very pleasing head and expression. High set, small, button ears. Good overall conformation. Moved very well.

3rd Cedilla Carry On Cowboy.

LD (2) 1st Ragemma Hot Potato. Clear fawn who stood away today. Still relatively young at 2 years old but a really super boy. Lovely head shape, fine wrinkles, wide muzzle and dark eye of good shape. Excellent ears. Strong neck. Good body and bone. Nicely balanced angles. Excellent double coat that was well presented. High set tail. Easy mover and a happy showman. Should easily gain his title. BD & BIS. Congratulations!

Sp. Open Fawn (5) 1st R. Rumour Has It At Combleywood.

2nd Cedilla’s Olive. This lovely fawn excels in head, eye and expression. Excellent pigment. Wide, open nostrils. Good width of underjaw. Sound conformation having balanced angles and holds her outline well. Moves with drive from the rear but can tighten slightly coming towards. Eager showgirl.

OB (5) 1st Cedilla Cherry On Top. Very good fawn that is of a pleasing size, feminine but has enough substance for her frame. Strong, round skull. Could have a bit more width of underjaw. Excellent eye and pigment. Excellent compact shape with plenty of substance. Good angles. Tail set a bit low but has a good twist. Absolutely sound in all directions. Well presented and handled as were all from this exhibitor.

2nd Lampugs Magnolia. Pretty and feminine clear fawn. Super ear set . Darkest of pigment. Good eye shape, dark and endearing in expression. Would prefer a touch more width of muzzle for ideal balance. Good overall make and shape. High set tail but could be a shade tighter curl. Moved with purpose, reach and drive. Lovely coat and condition.

Michael Saffer Mem. Open Stakes (9) 1st Potbelli Keep On Dreaming. Stood 3rd in a good limit class, but more settled on the move here. A super little fawn from any angle. So appealing in head and expression. Excellent overall conformation. Keen showgirl.
