West Bromwich & Wednesbury Canine Society

West Bromwich and Wednesbury canine society - 1/10/2022. Thank you to the society for inviting me to judge two wonderful breeds, also thank you to all the exhibitors for entering. I was very honoured to receive a wonderful entry in numbers and quality. It was my first time to judging Dobermanns and bullmastiffs, I thoroughly enjoyed my day. Unfortunately the ring was very small and due to time I did feel rushed. Some dogs it suited however some of the bigger dogs struggled to get their stride. I was pleased with my overall winners. Huge congratulations to my best of breed bullmastiff, winning group one, and then reserve best in show, and my best of breed Dobermann getting second in the group behind the bullmastiff. Dobermanns Puppy (4,3) 1st Reid’s ZZ Dreamgirl V Nobel line (IMP NOR) - 11 months, old black and tan bitch. A nice puppy with great potential. Lovely clean cut wedge shaped head, with a slight stop, and a dark, almond shaped eye. Good ear shape and size. A lovely long well arched neck, shoulders okay with good balanced angulation for an aft. A little longer in back at this stage, but will improve with maturity as she fills out everywhere else. Nice feet and strong pasterns, true coming and going with a good reach and drive. Best Puppy. Junior (7,3) 1st Plowman’s Supeta’s Pocketful of Glory - 17 month old Black and Tan male. What a boy he is, just the substance I was looking for and at such a young age for the breed I hope will mature on to fulfil his potential. Head is very strong and masculine with clean lines and a nice wedge shape. Dark eye with correct shape and set with good size ears, set well. Shoulders were ok but had a great chest with good upper arm length. Nice strength to his front, parallel legs and wonderful tight feet. His back length was the best of the day, nice short back with wonderful balanced angulation for and aft giving a wonderful classic dobermann shape. Shown in excellent condition and even in the small ring was shown excellently to get the best out of him. Totally true out and back and plenty of reach and drive. BOB and delighted he won group 2 behind my bullmastiff BOB. 2nd Evans’s Lateagain Heart Of Fire - 14 month old Black and Tan male. He was very unlucky to meet 1st today as this boy ticks all the boxes for me, my notes say just want more of him. Nice head clean lines and wedge shaped with a pleasing dark eye and good ear set and shape. Nice lay of shoulder and good chest and front angulation, front could be a little neater but he is still developing. Slightly longer in the back than 1 but hoping as he develops and matures everywhere else this will lessen. Great overall shape balance angulation front and back just need to see more body develop as he matures. He was a little loose on the front in the small ring but otherwise sound showing good reach and drive. Certainly one to watch out for in the future. RBOB. 3rd Pollard’s Manzart Yuliana At Wizzbean. Graduate (8;4) 1st Plowman’s Supeta’s Pocketful of Glory - previous junior class winner see above. 2nd Lafford’s Lateagain Wild Heart Avec Sariandobes - 14 month old Brown and tan bitch litter sister to the RBOB and some of the comments apply to her. Her head needs time to mature at the moment, she was loosing some expression as he bottom jaw falls away slightly, otherwise nice eye with good ear set and shape. She had a lovely flow to her shape, shoulder placement was good with nice angulation with a parallel front into nice tight feet. Liked the length of her back and good tail set. Balanced angulation front and back and in great condition. She was true out and back but did have a tendency to crab in the small ring. Loosing a touch of reach and drive would love to see her move in a bigger ring. Very feminine bitch will watch her future with interest. Open (7;3) 1st Robinson’s Korifey Ivan - 2.5 year old black and tan male. This boy impressed me as he entered the ring however the small ring didn’t suit him and was playing his handler up somewhat. What a cracking head the best on the day so masculine without being course wonderful head planes and correct dark eye with a lovely almond shape. Good ear shape and set giving a wonderful picture. His shoulders were ok but I personally would like a tad more chest but he still has time to mature at 2.5 years old. Nice parallel legs and excellent tight feet. His rear angulation was a little more than his front today but hopefully as he develops this may improve. He was also a little loose on his front action today in the small ring. Shown in excellent condition and covered the ground well however I would love to see him in a bigger ring to show his full potential. Will watch his career with interest. 2nd Bradbury & Sanderson’s Jodaseen Bootylicious 3 year old black and tan bitch. Lovely head with a feminine look, correct dark eye with an almond shape, nice ear set and shape. Lovely neck, shoulders ok would like them set back a little bit more, I would also like to see more chest I feel her front angulation could be a better. Wonderful front legs with parallel lines and nice tight feet. Nice length to her back with a good tail set. Nice rear angulation and lovely shape to her rear. Moved true on the out and back with good reach and drive in the small ring. 3rd Thorn’s Grafmax Sergeant Pepper. Bullmastiff I only had 6 entries of bullmastiffs however all 6 were present and all could have walked away with BOB the quality was great to see. Junior (2;0) 1st Marshall’s Omfero Princess Audrey At Verosa - 13 month old bitch. Wonderful head with a nice dark eye and high set ears with a good mouth. Lovely neck into well laid shoulders. Nice straight front and great angulation front and rear giving a wonderful shape, so classic just needs time to body out and strengthen a little all over. Lovely movement out and back and covered the ground well, would love to see her moving round a larger ring to see her full potential. BOB lovely to hear she went WG1 and then RBIS huge congratulations to her owners. 2nd Thomas and Bull’s Phoria Eden 9 month old bitch who was unlucky to meet 1 today. Very much a baby but has all the right things in the right places for me at the moment. Nice head with a good neck leading into well laid shoulders. Excellent angulation front and back with a lovely overall shape. Moved well in all directions for one so young. She was just pipped by her brother for best puppy as he was a little bit more mature but both wonderful babies and will watch their progress with interest. Postgraduate (2;0) 1st Thomas and Bull’s Phoria’s Seventh Heaven 9 month old male. Really wowed me when he entered the ring. Lovely head with a good eye but wish he used his ears a little more on the day. Cracking length of neck into well laid shoulders and super angulation front and rear so balanced and such a lovely shape to him. Powerful mover and was sound in all directions was a contender for BOB but just lost out on maturity. He is a little weak on pasterns at the moment which hopefully as he develops will improve. Will watch his career with interest. 2nd Bratchie and Baillie’s The Love And Hope Is Dvariskiu At Skookumbull (IMP LTU) 19 month old dark fawn male this boy was unfortunate to meet 1 today. Nice head would prefer a shorter bottom jaw to give a better expression nice ear set and shape. Would prefer less wrinkle all over with him. Nice neck into well laid shoulders, angulation was ok front and rear with a nice shape and moved well from all directions. Open (2;2) 1st Bratchie and Baillie’s Essenceera Turn The Music On At Skookumbull JW 4 year old male. Lovely head, nice dark eye, well set and of good shape, lovely neat ears set up high giving a pleasing expression. Lovely neck into well laid shoulders with excellent angulation front and rear, nice straight front with a good strong pastern. This boy had a tendency to be bum high when standing but wasn’t on the move. Shown in excellent condition moved well from all angles and covered the ground well. Pleased to award him RBOB. 2nd Baines’s Essenceera Dream About Me at Torreyabloom 4 year old bitch litter sister to 1. Very much the same attributes to him however was very difficult to assess her today she didn’t want to be there. Lovely head but refused to use her ears in the class. Her oversell shape was good liked her front and rear angulation. She did move well when she got going maybe on a different day the placings could well change a lot didn’t like the packed out halls and small rings unfortunately. Judge Danielle Seward (Elleonia)
