Coventry & District Gundog Society

Coventry Gundog, 3rd December 2022

German Shorthaired Pointer

I was delighted with my entry, both in terms of quality and numbers.

I was also very impressed with how so many exhibits were in such fit

condition.

P (7, 1a): A challenging class to start the day purely on the basis that

there were some real babies in this class up against more mature

dogs – all at various stages of development through age and sex. 1

BP & RBPIS, Bowler’s Winterwell Iggy Inch, quality l/w ticked boy,

stood out standing & moving, the most together at this stage & the

best mover going around the ring. When he settles into his stack, he

has a lovely outline, he’s clean over his topline & has well balanced

angles fore & aft – nothing is overdone. On closer inspection, he has

an intelligent expression, tight feet, strength of bone, & a quality you

can feel as your hands glide over his depth of chest & spring of rib.

He is in good condition with good coat, & enjoys his time in the ring

which is lovely to see. When he matures & settles into his role, he

will do very well as he is just so sound. Delighted he went RBPIS.

Congratulations!; 2 Angus’ Keigame Hvitserk of Sparkenhoe, l/w

ticked, so very together for his age & really looks the part in the line-

up presenting a well-balanced outline with good angles fore & aft. In

lovely condition, taut throughout his body especially through the loin

& hindquarters. Preferred the tailset & movement of 1; 3 Bunker’s

Winterwell Little Itch.

J (5, 1a): 1 W Iggy Inch; 2 K Hvitserk of Sparkenhoe; 3 Merritt’s

Sperant Chocolate Cosmos JW.

PG (3, 2a): 1 Adams’ Kacela Sweet Zuri, l/w bitch of 22 months, good

depth of chest. Not performing at her best today, a little huddled

into herself - possibly to keep warm on a cold day – which made her

hard to really assess.

O (7, 2a): 1 BOB, Dymond’s Sh Ch Quintana Diamond Dust at

Friarsbelle JW, l/w ticked boy of only 19 months & full of sheer

quality. Has a great presence about him & as such, I just couldn’t

take my eyes off him. He appeals in outline, stands over his ground

with a streamlined appearance. When you get your hands on him, he

has lovely strength of bone through the forearms, harsh coat, well

laid shoulders, & is in such fit condition you can really feel how his

musculature is aiding to his strength of posture. There is nothing

slack or loose about him & he holds his underline firm. Strong

through the loin & lovely well-turned stifles. He moves with precision

& carries his topline well. He really is such a quality boy, has a cheeky

glint in his eye - as all the best show dogs tend to do. No hesitation in

awarding him BOB; 2 RBOB, Merritt’s Sperant Pamplemousse,

stacks up lovely to present a well-balanced outline with correct

angles fore & aft. Liked her bone & substance & her retained

femininity. Lovely ribbing & eye catching movement on the drive

around the ring. Just would prefer a little more forechest; 3 Trow &

Jowsey’s Winterwell Stoney Trail.

Large Munsterlander

O (3, 2a): 1 BOB, Ward’s Braccpoint Song Of The Wind for

Gemlorien, mature bitch of 5 years, good bone for size & yet retains

her femininity, correct body ratios, brisket down to elbow, well laid

shoulders, very well muscled throughout – looks capable of a day’s

work, good bend of stifle, & strong through the rear pasterns.

Difficult to really see her stride out on the gym hall with her runner –

sure she would like to feel secure & move out on grass, but looked

steady & held her topline on the go around. Thank you for bringing

her today, worthy BOB.
